A wonderful place to stay. Views are great and the breakfast was enjoyable.

Tips:

Very close to be able to catch the ferry to Mallaig ie 5 mins. Due to it being April Pub was closed for renovations so drove to Broadford (about 20 mins) and had dinner at The Claymore has good Gluten free options. Food was service was good.

Our stay at Homeleigh was great - the room was very spacious, with a beautiful view, the whole B&B is very clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Angus was a great host - having thought of everything to make guests feel at home and welcome. Very dog friendly, I would definitely recommend Homeleigh to anyone visiting Skye & will return next time we our in this area.

In every respect it was a very comfortable stay of four nights. Our host was supportive of our needs, friendly, and a great cook to boot! The room was comfortable with a beautiful view across the water to Mallaig. Our host's attention to detail made it a great comfort to be there.

Tips:

There is a trail to the sea further up the road from Homeleigh that we learned about on our last day and did not get a chance to walk. We recommend giving it a try.

29th August 2023:

The best mixture of friendliness and efficiency. Add this to a location that overlooks one of the most beautiful views in Scotland: Over the Sound of Sleat to the mountains of Knoydart.

Tips:

Sleat is a beautiful peninsula - not as mountainous as other parts, but equally interesting. Homeleigh is only a short distance from the Pier at Armadale, the destination of Skye-bound car ferries from mainland Mallaig. Less than a mile away is the MacDonald museum and archive at Armadale Castle with its garden walks. The Ardvasar Inn is close where meals can be had at a reasonable cost. Drive over any of the minor roads and there will be magnificent mountain scapes and seascapes to marvel at.

Wir haben uns erneut sehr wohl im Homeleigh gefühlt. Sehr schönes B&B in Ardvasar nahe zur Fähre, dem Armedale Castle, der neuen Destillerie Torabhaig. Leckeres Frühstück - was will man mehr. Unbedingt zu empfehlen.

Tips:

Tips:

Visit Armadale Castle and The Stables Cafe for the homemade soup of the day. A beautiful gift shop at Castle entry. Yummy food and a wonderful view at The Inn within walking distance from B&B. Definitely visit the Ragamuffin store at the pier for many laughs reading their greeting cards.

Homeleigh is a great place to stay on Skye. The rooms are clean and comfortable with well thought out details. Instructions for the shower and tv were clear and accurate! Carpets were all spotless and there was a fresh, light fragrance throughout….not that musty smell you often get on old places or those by the water. The small couch and desk in the room made it comfortable for relaxing before and after exploring beautiful Skye.

Tips:

Consider utilizing the nearby ferry service if road tripping. The hotel restaurant and bar just down the road is quite good and just a short walk away.

excellent B&B, we arrived late and left early so didn't get to see Angus or Fiona but they left detailed notes on what to do etc.. their house is ideally situated to explore the local area and the small harbour is a short lovely walk. We had a lovely stay, easy to find, really nice rooms. Only downside, sloping gravel carpark not good for motorcycles, paving slabs provided but not fully accessible and not the best arrangement.

Our stay with Angus was brilliant. The location is very nice to explore the less tourist-y bits of Skye. Breakfast selection was great, and we really enjoyed a full library of streaming services, as the weather was not ideal during our stay. The room was clean and quite big, with a beautiful view of the sea.

Great family run b&b. Rooms spotless and host Angus top notch. Breakfast was excellent and set you up for a great day ahead. Views across the sound of Sleat were fantastic.

Tips:

Location means you can vary the journey on the mainland by either coming over the Skye road bridge or getting the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale. Also, you need to book for tours of the Toraphaig distillery as it gets quite busy. The Sleat of Skye was quieter than some of the island but there are beautiful little bays and harbours to explore.

Beautiful B&B and Angus was an excellent host. Only two drawbacks. First no restaurants nearby - the nearest hotel was only open for residents. Secondly it is a bit out of the way. 21st August 2021:

Fantastic B&B run by Angus. Lovely big room with everything you need e.g. well thought out. To be honest better organised than many way more expensive hotels. The information we received beforehand was also very helpful. We actually know the island well, however for those that don't it is very useful. The location is ideal for the ferry and for doing anything on the Sleat peninsula. The road to Kyle of Lochalsh and Broadford is quick, so you are not 'cut off'. I would very happily stay again.

Tips:

Right now - August 2021 - getting food in the evenings is a challenge. This is a combination of restaurants sensibly keeping some distancing, small restaurants, and Skye being hit, like the rest of the UK, with lack of hospitality staff. There is food around. We would highly recommend booking at least some evenings before you arrive. Back up options are, bring some picnic kit, have main meal at lunch and buy food at Armadale stores, An Crubh or the Co-op in Broadford for the evening. The fish and chip shop in Broadford is excellent and that was coping, especially if you eat earlier in the evening. The Claymore restaurant in Broadford doesn't take reservations at present - this means you can rock up and wait. We did this twice, we didn't have to wait long and the food and staff were excellent.

Breakfast was good & served in the conservatory-again with a lovely view. Very friendly & helpful host.

Tips:

We are in a local bar which is in easy walking distance of the B&B. Other restaurants are around but probably would need to drive. During the summer guess you would need to book. Perfect place to start exploring Skye.

1st October 2019:

Really excellent accommodation. We only stayed for one night as we were heading back to the mainland the next day but I would have booked us in for longer had I had the chance. The room itself was really nice, I appreciated the hot shower in the morning. And everything you need really is there, we didn’t have to ask for anything, which was appreciated also. The host, Angus, really makes this place. He was conversational and knowledgeable about the area and what there was around here. He was also quick to respond via email, which I appreciated, especially as we were in travel. The breakfast selection was really good, just fill out the card and bring it downstairs and your all set. Like I said, really nice place, good location, especially if you are taking the ferry as opposed to the bridge, definitely one that I will file away for next time if we come back. Oh and if you are on a longer trip like we were, make use of the laundry services offered, I didn’t and I wish I had!

Tips:

Armadale Castle is nearby, and your about an hour...hour and a half from The Storr and Portree. If you are going to The Storr check the forecast. If it rained the day before bring hiking boots and go early. I wish I could submit some of the photos I took. Really nice.

Angus is an extremely kind and helpful host who works very hard to provide a homely and friendly space. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious. Angus offers many tips and suggestions for local travel and the rooms are very well maintained and comfortable. The location is beautiful with views of the sea and mountains and not too far to visit various places.

Tips:

We travelled to Uig via Portree and headed down the other side to Kilt rock which was pretty amazing and great views. It took around 3 hours in total.

We stayed at Homeleigh when we visited Skye in June, and I would definitely choose to stay there again if we ever have the opportunity to revisit. The view from our room was beautiful, the choice at breakfast was great and despite a number of food allergies there was more than enough to choose from, and the breakfast room was lovely. I loved sitting at breakfast watching the birds come and go at the feeder.

We stayed for one night and enjoyed the beautiful views from this lovely home. Angus was so helpful with travel advice. We had a very good dinner at the pub down the road. Also Angus prepared and delicious breakfast that we ordered ahead the night before at the time we requested. We stayed in a small suite on the first floor that was good because we did not want to climb stairs. Our travel companions stayed on the second floor with a more spacious room and lovely view. The sunroom dining overlooking the water was very special. I would highly recommend this B&B Mary Ann and Bob Shomaker

Angus gave us a very warm welcome into his home, which was warm, pristine and comfortable. The room was perfect and the gorgeous bed with beautiful while linen bedding made it very difficult to get up for the early morning ferry. Lashings of hot water in a good strong shower, with fluffy white towels, made the stay luxurious and was very welcome after a very wet dreich day on the road. Breakfast, served in the conservatory was perfect - thank you Angus

Tips:

We had a very nice meal in the Hotel a short walk away down the hill to the left ( can’t remember the name) but good to book as it gets busy. We only stayed here 1 night, but wished we could have stayed longer as South Skye is a beautiful area to explore & Homeleigh the perfect place to stay

The physical location is great if you come in on the ferry from Maillag. Angus and his home are I. A quiet neighborhood overlooking the ocean. Quiet with a bar pub to eat at within walking distance of HomeLeigh. The breakfast knook is fantastic for being pleasant and has a killer view. Great bed and view from the room as well. Breakfast was perfectly cooked, try the scrambled eggs, Angus has those nailed in my book Be prepared for this, our room had a shower mounted on demand water heater the was pretty good but my experience is they don't usually deliver a consistence temperature or pressure.

Tips:

I'd stay here or recommend this place without concern. Just be aware the shower could be great or inconsistent with pressure and temperature

Owner Response:

Hello Todd, and thanks for the review. I wish you had asked my advice with the shower at the time, or even mentioned it before you departed so I could have checked it over. Anyway, I have now had the shower checked in the room you were in and it is (and was) working perfectly. I have now produced a printed instruction sheet which is posted on the wall to explain how to set the shower. Even though the operation of the shower is very simple, if set incorrectly can give poor results. If you ever return here you will be sure of a lovely hot shower!

Friendly and welcoming host who was also generous with his time and local knowledge.

Tips:

The location is ideal especially for those wanting to utilize the Maillag ferry. The terminal is within 400 m as is a local pub that serves good meals in a relaxed environment. There are a number of tourist attractions and good walks in the local area. Homeleigh overlooks the sea and is in a quiet area. It is a long established B& B that has recently undergone a change of ownership. The new owner is very friendly but not intrusive and is generous with his local knowledge.

You are very friendly hosts. It was a beautiful stay.Thank you

Tips:

This B&B is a good starting point for trips around Loch Alsh and Duich with Eilean Dunan Castle and around of Isle of Skye. A hotel with restaurant and bar is nearby (450m). Nearby is a ferry port to Mallaig and the Gaelic academy Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. There we had a nice evening at the Skye Festival.

What a fantastic find! Deb and Charlie are perfect hosts and the 2 nights we stayed we wanted for nothing.Perfectly located 5 minutes from the ferry, with beautiful views of the sea and the pretty garden. Our room was spacious with everything catered for including large wardrobe space, dressing table/work surface and a full length mirror. Lots of options for breakfast, which was tasty and plentiful. Shame we were only there for such a short stay! The welcome, attention to detail and personal touches make it one to definitely revisit.

Tips:

Not being on Skye for very long, we didn't get round the whole island, but the scenery is stunning and Armadale Castle/Museum and further afield to Portree were well worth a visit.

22nd June 2017:

Family of 4 from Norway on a roadtrip in Scotland, needed an overnight stay before taking the ferry to Mallaig in the morning. We were warmly welcomed by Deb and Charlie and got spacious, comfortable and stylish en suite rooms with a view. The "tailormade" breakfast in the conservatory and the overall good athmosphere made this a great stay. And not to forget Midge - we just loved the cat :)

Tips:

We took the 08:40-ferry to Mallaig and drove further to Glenfinnan where we parked to the left just before the river. Then we had a short walk up to the Glenfinnan viaduct - famous from the Harry Potter movie - and found a nice photo spot up the path to the left of the viaduct. The "Harry Potter" train (Jackobite) came around 10:45, so the timing was great!

I stayed for one night with my boyfriend. The owners were really welcoming and their home is amazing. The location is lovely, quiet and picturesque. We arrived a little bit later than we expected around 8.15pm, but that wasn't a problem. After we checked in, we headed to the Ardvasar Hotel for dinner, however, they had stopped serving food at 8.30pm, so we had to go back to the B&B and look for another place. Our hostess saw that we came back quickly from the hotel and we told her what happened. She immediately offered to make us sandwiches for dinner, as the closest restaurant was miles away and would probably be closed by the time we arrive there. It was so thoughtful and nice from her side to do that and we are really grateful. It made us really feel at home! I can't speak highly enough about their hospitality. About the room and the breakfast: Our room was lovely with a great view and free binoculars to enjoy it. There were small chocolates and tea, coffee and hot chocolate inside. There is a lot of choice on the breakfast menu, but we decided to order full Scottish breakfast and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious. Thank you!

Deb was wonderful. Our train from Glasgow to Mallaig had broken down at Fort Williams, so Scotsrail put us up for the night on the evening that we had booked for Homeleigh. We emailed Deb and let her know of our predicament. She had already left to Armadale as we had pre-arranged that she pick us up from the Armadale ferry, but when she returned she was exceptionally understanding and accommodating. She offered to cancel our reservation and refund our deposit even though she was unable to rent the room as we had to cancel the afternoon of our booking. I cannot recommend Homeleigh enough. The owner is wonderful.

Avoid the Castle Moil restaurant in Kyleakin - we made the mistake of going in there for a coffee, not at all nice. Ardvasar Hotel is convenient for food, but suspect there are better places to eat. The breakfasts were also delicious - we looked forward to them each morning. We're so appreciative of their beautiful accommodations and hospitality.

Deb and Charlie are superb hosts and Homeleigh is blessed with a wonderful location and marvelous views. The B&B itself is excellent - decor, rooms (ours was a twin bedded room) and facilities are really good, and the breakfast is delicious. We stayed for six nights and enjoyed every minute and staying at Homeleigh was a real blessing.

Tips:

Number one is to go to Ord, Tokavaig and Tarskavaig and watch the sun set over the Cuillins. Other things to do: walk to the Point of Sleat - a great walk with superb views; go to Elgol and go on a boat trip (we can recommend Misty Isles); visit the Trotternish peninsula; Isle of Ornsay - spend an afternoon just resting and having a meal & drink (alfresco) while looking at the view. Places to eat and drink - Ardvasar Hotel is good food and local beer, and friendly (we enjoyed chats over dinner with others visiting Sleat and with locals) - also Creelers in Broadford is an excellent seafood restaurant (but you need to book)

Lovely B&B in quiet area. Great hosts, clean and comfortable room and a generous breakfast.

Tips:

Only a 40 minute walk to the Dores Inn which is right on the shore of Loch Ness. We were on route to Skye, but took our time along the road which follows the Loch, and stopped off at the Change House and did a little circular walk, and also at Foyers to explore the waterfalls and extended the walk right down to the pier. A post office/cafe/shop at Foyers with good parking.

Walk the few hundred yards down the road to the local hotel for a nice dinner.

friendly, helpful, very good service.great scenery with Morar in sight, very good location.

Tips:

To get to the beach at point of Sleat, there is an easier way to get there. Check it out - you go around or past a shed, a farmer said, rather than climbing the rocks. Armadale Castle is within walking distance. There are other points of interest that I didn't have time for and will have to come back to see. Fortunately, the weather was beautiful.

A beautiful location with amazing views. We had a wonderful time on Skye getting to know our lovely hosts and finding our way around the local community. The service and facilities are second to none.

Tips:

The local walks are great. Sally's coffe shop just down the road from Homeleigh has great coffee and the local art and photography is well worth checking out. We also enjoyed learning about the history of Skye at the museum. The local farm shop makes great salads for a picnic!!

27th October 2015:

Hosts Deb and Charlie were very welcoming and helpful. We travelled with a 3 year old and 1 year old and they were very accomodating putting up a single bed and a cot. They collected us from the ferry terminal in Armadale as it is a good 800m walk uphill which would have been difficult with our luggage. Lovely accommodation with great views back to mainland Scotland.

Tips:

There is no public transport or shops open on a Sunday. The only place to get food if you don't have a car is the local hotel which is a bit overpriced but nice food and welcoming.

This is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. We were only sorry to be staying just the one night. The location speaks for itself, the bedroom was very comfortable and while they don't serve the breakfast on the floor, they could - it's that clean. The shower and toilet are top class with a generous supply of toiletries. The lift down to the ferry was very welcome too!

Tips:

The Ardvasar Hotel is a decent place for a meal and a quiet beer.

Homeleigh was very welcoming and homely. We really appreciated the facilities available and the attention to detail that covered all aspects of our stay. The breakfasts were exceptionally good. I can't praise the owners highly enough and hope to visit again in the future.

Tips:

We liked the Clan Donald museum, Castle, Gardens and cafe. There are great views from the top of the hill nearby. At the right time of day it is possible to see seals and otters nearby. The shops at the ferry terminus sold some nice local craft produce. We loved the beach near the ferry.

You were both perfect hosts with a lovely home. All our needs were catered for and more we just wish we could have stayed longer. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to friends and family and actually took a couple of your business cards to do just that. Thank you

Tips:

We would highly recommend the Ardvasar Hotel, we enjoyed an evening meal and drink there. We would also recommend a trip to Elgol, passing Torrin en route, spectacular views of the Cuillins from both areas. Portree is also worth a visit with a view interesting gift shops and a very colourful harbour area.

Excellent comfortable stay and superb breakfast and service. Very convenient for the Armadale - Mallaig ferry by foot or bicycle.

Tips:

Table booked for us at the Ardvassar Hotel just down the hill. Very convenient but the meal there was decidedly average and atmosphere dreary, if you have a car try further up the coast of you want a decent dinner. Book good venues in advance in the tourist season.
