Skye Basecamp was a great place to stay for our exploration of the Isle. Clean, inexpensive, close to groceries and bus stops, well equipped common spaces, and a super friendly staff.

We would recommend renting a car if you stay here. There is not much for public transportation and most of the taxis are based out of Portree. You may be able to catch a ride with others, but if you have a short stay, it’s hard to plan on that.

Scrupulously clean hostel with well stocked, pleasant kitchen and lots of space for several groups to sit to eat. Very friendly with organised spaces for everyone to leave food in their own tray. Hot water for drinks ready at all times. Great!

After a long tiring day in the hills we bought fresh pasta at the Co-op just half a mile away and were eating our dinner within about ten minutes of getting back to the hostel. If budget allows we had a good meal at the Clachan and I think there's also a fish and chip shop nearby. Our pint at the Sligachan after our day's climbing was stellar.

I stayed for two nights here. The room was clean and tidy. Same as showers and toilet room. It never felt too crowded. The kitchen is well kept, I believe also because in general the people staying was nice and tidy. The staff I met, Adam and Alexa are very friendly and helpful. For example I had a headache and Alexa helped me to find some painkillers. Location is fantastic to have it as your basecamp, it is very close to little cafés and a supermarket. Easy to park and a marvellous view from the hostel.

The Co-op and a service station are close to the hostel, which is quite practical. Location is pretty good if you arrive late to the Isle and want to arrive quickly and then keep exploring other further places as Portree.

Loved my stay at skye base camp. Lovely big kitchen well equipped with everything a traveler could need. Immaculately clean and big island bench to prep food so heaps of room even with a few in the space. And open early till late. Really kind and helpful staff. Lovely lounge space with pool table overlooking the sea. All very easy and organized. Comfortable beds and warm toasty room I could completely black out and get a good nights sleep.

On the local bus route so I could use public transport to get to most tourist spots and walks I wanted to see. Even a small health food shop in Broadford which was a great find! And the local cafe/restaurant Sia (walking distance) has amazing food! Plus a Co-op to buy groceries to cook your own.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The comunal area is great and the rooms are also very cozy :) And waking up to a sea side view is not bad either ;)

Drive around the island! Go up north and do the loop there (So many nice stops on the way)! Hiking up to Old Man of Storr is so worth it as well. And if you got time and the weather is good, go and watch the sunset at Elgol - you won't regret it :)

One of the best hostels we have ever stayed at! Incredibly comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, super organized and helpful reception, convenient parking right out front, and overall such a cozy vibe. We loved the common kitchen which had all the dishes and utensils we could need to cook, & it was a treat seeing Cleodi the dog walking around to greet the guests :) Cannot recommend Skye Basecamp enough!

The atmosphere at Skye Basecamp was second to none. From the moment you walk in the door you’re greeted by the friendliest staff who show you around the large communal spaces. The beds are comfortable and the showers the best we’ve had in any hostel stay. The ample free parking out the front was a huge bonus, definitely felt safe.

We had dinner just down the road at the Hebridean Inn and that was delicious. The walks at the Fairy Pools and the Old man of Storr are not to be missed.

1st time using this hostel and very pleased. Well situated for eateries and provisions, yet in a quiet location. We had a 5 0erson private room with en suite and the shower was excellent. This hostel is one of the best I've ever stayed in (and I've been to many around the world). The staff and owners have setup a space that really takes into consideration what a traveler will need. Everything from a drying room for all the wet hiking clothes, to a dream kitchen to cook in, "free food" boxes so food doesn't go to waste when a traveler leaves and can't take it with them. The showers were hot, the rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. It also seemed to attract chill people, so it was a great mixture of socializing but also getting quality sleep and rest. Kudos to this team!

If you want to beat crowds, head to Elgol. The drive there from Basecamp is spectacular and very few tourists.

Broadford is a great starting point to explore Skye and the Cullin Mountains if you are driving. Limited to public transport can make it an adventure but is doable. Met lovely young international travelers.

Our favorite restaurant is the Harbour House. We were lucky to be walk ins, reservations are recommended. Delicious savory meal. Deli Gasta was another favorite with smaller meals and fabulous desserts.

Nice friendly place with plenty of parking. Centrally located so good base from which to explore Skye at a reasonable price. As a couple we had our own room with en-suite rather than stay in a bunk room which suited us fine. Self catering facilities were excellent, with identifiable containers that you can place your food in the fridges.

There is a large Co-op supermarket not far away that you can get all you need for self-catering and a great fish and chip shop a bit further on.

Basecamp is a good starting point for trips on the isle of Sky. The rooms are simple and rather small but clean, good beds and attached bathrooms. The kitchen is clean, huge, well equipped and we liked the possibility to use or leave things you do not need anymore. Laundry available.very nice and helpful staff. Good public rooms with pool. We enjoyed our stay there.

First and foremost communication is easy with your team. Regardless of whether it’s email or calling in, I have had quick responses and always spoke to someone pleasant. Finding the place I appreciated the detailed instructions and even driving to the place the signs directing you to the hostel were most helpful. I stayed in the 5 bedroom private room. The cleanliness cannot be faulted, the room was comfortable- my only complaints was being on the ground floor, the upstairs neighbours walking is noisy but to be fair that’s not something the hostel owners can control and there was esr plugs offered to buy. I was pleasantly surprised by the facilities. The communal areas were clean, inviting and comfortable. I personally didn’t use any of the kitchen facilities but confident it had everything I would need. I acknowledged other members staying there could cook a meal and enjoy comfortably. I definitely appreciated the drying room for all our wet stuff from walks. Oh the views from the hostel was lovely as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the stay and have no complaints. Thank you for accommodating us

We did travel out to see places, but that was the purpose of our trip. There’s a lovely little restaurant a 5 minute walk away, however it gets really busy. The staff were really friendly and got us seated as soon as they could. You have good access to roads to make you trips out accessible. Overall a good area.

I throughly enjoyed my stay. As soon as I saw the front entrance of the hostel I thought the vibe was fantastic, I was greeted with friendly staff and shown all the facilities. I felt right at home, free tee and coffee and fantastic kitchen facilities. Cleodi the hostel dog was my absolute favourite she is such a beautiful edition to the hostel! I would 100% come back and recommend the stay for my friends and fellow travellers :))

Plenty to see! Go for a walk along the waterfront (plenty of maps on the hostel to show you). Go for hikes, visit the local shops and coffee shop, great food! Jump in a car (I got in with some people from my hostel) and visit the fairy pools/fairy Glen, walk the old man storr ! So much to see and do!

Loved my stay at Skye Basecamp!! I had only planned to stay for three nights, but extended it to a whole week. My room was nice and bright with both mountain and ocean view, and I even had a real and very comfortable bed, not a bunk :-) Everything was really clean and I also liked the kitchen and common rooms. Oh, and the drying room was a blessing after wet days! The BEST part however are the lovely people working there. They gave me lots of great ideas for hiking off the beaten path and were always super friendly and helpful - even borrowed me their guitar! Thanks a lot for making my time on Skye so special - mòran taing agus mar sin leibh!

The "Coffee Bothy" next door has great cakes and soups (and a dog), and the Siaway Fish & Chips had a vegan version that was very delicious! Broadford Bay and the Irishman's Point make a woderful walk in the evening during sunset.

It is a lovely place to stay. I stayed in the room with in room bathroom. The room is clean and the bed is super comfy. The share kitchen area is great. We cooked breakfast everyday. The location is also good, near co-op and it is not really far driving from place to place.

Beware of the midges! I got bite a lot cause I thought it was just fruit flies.

We really enjoyed our stay at Skye Basecamp and will recommend it to others. However, the car parking arrangement needs to be improved as we found ourselves blocked in one morning when we had an early start. We noticed we were blocked in the previous evening and pointed it out at reception but you seemed unable to get the car moved. If staying again I will probably park elsewhere- or not leave enough room behind me for anyone else to park without blocking the road.

We enjoyed climbing in the Cuillin (Skye Guides were excellent). Ble Bheinn is also well worth climbing. Camas Darrioch beach is fantastic. We enjoyed meals at The Broadford Hotel and The Claymore.

Fantastic experience, I never tried hostels before as I like my privacy! this experience turned my thoughts. the location you have is amazing, especially the Kitchen that you have maintained is really great.

COOP is near, and travellers can buy easily food and daily need items from there.

It was a wonderful stay at this place. It is a very clean hostel, kitchen is well equipped, rooms are nice, staff is friendly. People staying there are very mixed aged, what I really liked! I felt very welcomed and I am sure I come back!

Bothy Café is a close and cute spot to go. Hiking the cuillin mountain is just wonderful. Rubha nam Brathairean is a wonderful spot to go besides all the touristic places. :)

Great location, great facilities, friendly staff with nice worldwide mix of guests from climbers, walkers & tourists. There are extras that count for a lot like the shower mats, hand towels, soap, air freshener and not forgetting the local walk suggestions. The pool table was a fun diversion. Also loved Cloudy the Old English sheepdog. Thanks Basecamp for a great stay. X

The coastal walks either side of Broadford Bay are beautiful with great wildlife particularly if you time them right with the tides.

I had an excellent stay!! The staff and people were absolutely lovely, facilities clean and in great condition, and the view sublime!

My friend and I used public transport and hitch hiking to get around the island so the location was not a problem!

The staff that I met were all really friendly and introduced themselves. The only negative comment I have is that the walls are quite thin and there were 2 men chatting in the next room til after midnight the first night whish kept me awake. I enjoyed my stay and will hopefully be back next year.

Generally speaking very good experience. Love the shared kitchen. However, my labelled food box with a few coffee bags disappeared in the second day. But it's fine, some people left their coffee grounds for sharing so I could still enjoy it.

My family of 5 was only here for one night. We arrived late and left early. We had the private room with a private bath. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. We were greeted upon arrival even though we arrived late. Very friendly! We did not use the kitchen, but it looked nice and well equipped. We wish we could have stayed longer. The view was spectacular from our front facing room.

Cafe Sia was delicious for pizza. Gasta Deli was very quaint and cozy. We had breakfast and lunch here and everything was fantastic! Highly recommend!

We had the best stay at Basecamp. I could not recommend it more. It was clean, the shower was really powerful and hot. ALL THE STAFF WERE AWESOME. The kitchen was the biggest/ most well stocked & user friendly hostel kitchen I have ever used. 10/10 for everything.

Tutte le persone che lavorano per L’ostello sono molto amichevoli, simpatiche e disponibili a dare informazioni. L’ostello è curato e anche e ho trovato il letto davvero comodo. Ci tornerei subito.

Bellissima location con vista sul mare e che consente di fare passeggiate e scalate sulle montagne vicine partendo direttamente dall’ostello senza prendere alcun mezzo. Supermercato vicino aperto 24/24, alcuni ristoranti e piccoli negozi di artigianato nelle immediate vicinanze

Staff were so friendly and accommodating, offered great advice and recs on where to go for beautiful walks! The hostel was also very homely and great facilities for the price! Cleodi the dog was the cherry on top!

The walk to Torrin is lovely and scenic, with a great cafe at the end which lots of lovely cakes! Additionally, Lean to coffee, a cafe just outside Broadford was really nice and near some beach walks which were very pretty!
