10th August 2024:
The house was very clean and well-equipped. It was lovely that dishwasher tablets, coffee pods and washing powder were already there. We did light the wood burner on the one cold, wet day we had and that was made it really cosy. We all liked the shower very much too. There was ample crockery and cutlery, which isn’t always the case when self-catering. It was evident that there’s been a lot of thought put into the facilities beyond the expected e.g. the binoculars. Overall, we loved it!
Tips:This proved a good base for exploring the north of the island. We enjoyed visiting Uig Pottery and the brewery there, Dunvegan Castle and Portree. We all enjoyed a boat trip from Portree and also the walk to Neist Point. We looked for fossils on the beach at Flodigarry. We went to the Agricultural Show in Portree, which was fun. We enjoyed meals at The Misty in Dunvegan (excellent pizzas and fish and chips) and in Portree (the place opposite the steps from the harbour between two car parks - we think it’s called An Talla Mor).

14th July 2024:
We had another lovely stay at Altavaig House, we love it here. The views are amazing and the house is styled so nice & modern but goes well with being up in Skye, lovely quality things makes it a great stay! Beds are so comfy, shower is great. Cosy livingroom with log burner with was fabulous as we had some rainy days again (3 out if 4 of them were rain 😂) but we spent most of our time in the snug room looking out to the view and the island. On arrival you are left fresh eggs from their chickens which is a great touch, also cereal, and salt pepper oil etc are there. And they had a nespresso coffee machine which is great with pods. Everything you would need for your stay!
Tips:The location is great if you are into walks/ climbs we climbed up the quiraing from the house on our nice day it was amazing seeing it on a good weather day! You actually can see it before you go to bed at night! Also we climbed to a point where we were looking down on the house which was pretty cool. You are also very close to the beach at Staffin with the dinosaur prints. They are another few lovely walks at the top of the island listed in the information they have provided. We travelled all over the island again visiting various places we just love the island! Would love to return again to Altavaig!

16th June 2024:
Beautiful house, real homely feel . Everything you need supplied , great touches such as binoculars in the “observation room” Such a quiet area , ideal for a relaxing break
Tips:Skye is gorgeous, but there’s a lot to see , and getting from venue to venue takes quite a while , the scenery is just stunning, and every trip is memorable. Watch out for straying sheep on every corner, drive cautiously. Some of the sites do get busy , but it’s not intolerable. I would recommend Armadale castle , as the grounds are stunning. Portree is a must , Dunvegan castle , just try and see the as much as you can , but a week is not enough time to do everything.

18th August 2022:
Gavin & Marion’s home is stunning, exceptionally clean and well catered for. The welcome package was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. The house is cosy and spacious. There was nothing they hadn’t thought of. We would most certainly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful home away from home on the Isle of Skye.
Tips:Enjoy the snug, make use of the binoculars. Make sure you buy and use Smidge when outdoors in the summer for the midges! Must dos…. Visit the fairy pools, old man storr, Skyeskyns and if you have time take a ferry trip to the Isle of Harris and visit Luskentyre beach, most beautiful beach we have ever seen.

8th July 2022:
Beautiful, comfortable and well equipped home with amazing sea views. Plenty of space around the property for parking, playing or outdoor dining. The lounge Is a perfect room to relax in, by the wood burning stove and the snug is a great place to bird watch, read or just look at the views. This is our second year at this property and we plan to come back again.

4th July 2021:
Beautiful, spacious home, tastefully decorated in wonderful location overlooking the beach. Kitchen was very well equipped with everything you would need. We had beautiful weather and made good use of the table outside. We would definitely book this accommodation again.
Tips:We cycled to the old man of storr and over the Quiraing and round the top of the island. It took about an hour to get to Sligachan and 1 hour 15mins to Glenbrittle from where we started hillwalking in the Cullins.
