I loved my stay at The Ferry Inn. My wife and I wished we could have stayed longer. The food, the drinks, and our room were all wonderful and relaxing. I am already thinking up reasons we need to return.
Tips:Get off of the beaten track and explore beyond what the tourist sites tell you about.

The Ferry Inn provided the perfect backdrop for our wedding celebration. The staff, including Gordon, Shona, Anna, Hamish, and Mac, were exceptional. Their attention to detail and warm hospitality made our special day even more memorable. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, and the food and drinks were fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better team to help us create lasting memories. Thank you to everyone at the Ferry Inn for making our wedding weekend unforgettable.

Without doubt the best place that I have stayed in Skye and have been travelling there most years over the past twenty. Immediately made welcome by Gordon and the quality continued with a superb dinner and a selection of excellent malts. Thoroughly enjoyed being part of conversations at the bar post dinner. Will most certainly return.

14th September 2024:
We feel so lucky to have found this place. It was total bliss. Not only does it have amazing views and absolutely charming bedrooms and common rooms but the food was unbelievable. We felt like we were at a Michelin starred restaurant except it was cosy and comfortable. We ate everything on the tasting menu two times. it’s a family run inn and the son is the chef and honestly it was not just the best food on our trip but maybe the best food I’ve ever had! There was lobster, there were scallops, cod, Caesar salad with crab, amazing grilled vegies. The bar was lively and crowded at night and the owner is the bartender. We didn’t want to leave and I almost don’t want to post this review because I want to keep this secret all to myself!! But sharing is better.
Tips:Don’t be an idiot. People go to Skye because it’s remote and isolated so guess what, there are NOT a lot of restaurants. Remember, you came there to look at the views and go hiking, things that you can’t do in places where there ARE a lot of restaurants! Just Google Earth it and look around people. Plan your meals carefully for every day and make reservations or bring your own food. also, unless you’re a really seasoned self-sufficient camper, this is not the greatest place for little kids.

The atmosphere in your bar was really welcoming and loved Mac on the bar! Gordon and Anna looked after us so well and the food was exceptional. All in all the very best stay so far on our road trip. Thanks !
Tips:Just ask Gordon who will be happy to tell all about the best places !

The Ferry Inn is absolutely charming & was our favorite place of all during our 3 weeks in Scotland. Every area from the bar to the dining & sitting room to our individual room was so beautifully but comfortably arranged & decorated with new furnishings & wall decor but featuring the beautiful wools of Scotland & prints of isle of Skye sea life. We ate both breakfast & dinner & both were delicious & well presented. Thank you Gordon, Shona, Anna, & Hamish!!!!

The best hotel experience I've ever had. The inn is beautiful, the owners are delightful, the food is incredible, and every single thing made us feel right at home.

Gordon and Anna were amazing hosts. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here if you are lucky enough to be in the area. The food was exceptional! If you are driving through Uig definitely book a table to experience the different range of sharing platters. A choice for everyone, it was all so delicious it’s hard to stop ordering!! The cooked breakfast was superb, with little changes each day, from local marmalade and jams, and a little bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice. The bar has a great range of drinks and whiskey tastings. If your lucky enough Gordon will be accompanying a great playlist on his drums in the background. The bed was heavenly after a days hiking and a fabulous hot shower. It was spotless with loads of personal touches all around the place. We would love to come back someday and have more cuddles with Mac. Katie and Gareth x
Tips:Book everything in advance to avoid disappointment. The fairy glen is beautiful and just down the road.

If you are lucky enough to find an opening here, take it. The Ferry Inn is easily the best bed & breakfast we've ever stayed at. Gordon, Anna, and the Ferry Inn team went above and beyond to make this a literally perfect stay. The Room was beautifully designed, comfortable, modern, and clean. The breakfast is excellent, and not to be missed! Dinner and the bar were exquisite. But the hospitality and friendliness of the Morrison family was the icing on the cake. It was a joy to be welcomed into their home for food and fellowship.
Tips:Of the most notable hikes on Skye, the inn is very close to the trailhead for the Quiraing, about a 15-20 minute drive - use your strategic location to get there early and beat the crowds! But don't miss Gordon's breakfast - the yogurt parfait was simply exquisite.

Very comfortable inn, family-owned and operated, serving breakfast and supper which are delicious. Particularly, supper at the inn is not to be overlooked, and is as good as restaurants on Skye rated with Michelin stars. The rooms are nice and are well-maintained. Gordon the owner made us feel at-home and was very attentive to our needs.

Anyone looking to stay in Skye would be lucky to find themselves at the Ferry Inn. We spent two nights there for our honeymoon and wished we had booked more. The rooms are cozy, the beds are comfy, the bar is full of friendly locals, and the family that owns/runs the Inn are the nicest most genuine people we’ve met in a long time. We were made welcome and felt comfortable immediately. I don’t write reviews often and could wait share what an incredible place this was. If you like good company, atmosphere, music, food, dogs then this is the place for you.
Tips:Make sure to reserve dinner reservations each night because there isn’t much around and none of it compares to what’s served at the Ferry Inn.

Without a doubt the best lodging experience we’ve ever had. Every single detail from the music to the decor and dining experience was beyond exceptional. In short we really felt like we were home. Gordon and Anna were inviting, helpful and treated us like close friends/family. Mac also deserves high praise for his sheer existence and cuteness. Thank you for everything, Morrison family — we will be back!! :) PS — Chase accidentally took a small towel with us from the room, lol. We felt terrible once we realized it was yours! The Ferry Inn exceeded every expectation. From amazing accommodations to exquisite cuisine, the family-run Inn offers warm, friendly, thoughtful service that leaves you anxious to plan your return! We loved exploring the Isle of Skye and returning to The Ferry Inn, where every consideration had already been thought of for us. The only thing better than Gordon’s drinks and excellent playlist were the conversations with Anna and petting Mac!
Tips:Plan meals and snacks in advance! Mid-day meals can be difficult to find so be prepared. This was our third visit to The Ferry Inn and as previously we had a wonderful stay. It’s a family run inn but with a very high, professional standard. So we always feel very welcome and relaxed whilst enjoying a great atmosphere, with lively banter, a very good music playlist alongside fantastic service and incredible food/drink! We’ll definitely be going back to stay and be pampered again as soon as we can!
Tips:This year we enjoyed a tour of Talisker distillery and a walk to & on Talisker Bay Beach on our first day. Then a ferry ride to Raasay, tour of the Raasay distillery and walk to the abandoned settlement of Hallaig on our second day. There are of course all the wonderful famous sites to see on Skye, and we’ve enjoyed visiting these in the past, but this year we went to places that were generally less busy (well, okay Talisker distillery wasn’t empty but the tour groups aren’t too large!).

Located outside Uig, the Ferry Inn is welcoming from the moment we stepped in. The residents lounge, in keeping with the rest of the place, was delightfully decorated and relaxing. The bedroom simply could not have been improved upon. Unfortunately, my wife now wants changes at home! Every comfort catered for. Dining at the Ferry Inn was exactly what was needed. A wet day and a long drive then…really relaxing dining in a warm ambiance, pleasant music and delicious tapas-type cuisine. The Morrison family really aim to make guests stay at the Ferry Inn special. The bar is small and atmospheric and Gordon looked after us very well. Then we went to the wee restaurant where daughter Anna was so helpful and attentive snd made for an excellent evening which both enjoyed so much. We have stayed at a dozen hotels this year. Most fade in the memory. The Ferry Inn will not. The Morrisons deserve credit for what has been created. We really appreciated our two nights there.
Tips:Tip to travellers on local restaurants. Unless you have no alternative do not venture beyond the Ferry Inn. Others in the immediate area are no match. Dunvegan Castle and Gardens is definitely worth visiting. Also, the short boat trip to see the seals. Take A855 north of Uig, following the coast to Staffin. Then take the small road west back to Uig. Stop and admire Quairaing or better still walk up it.

The attention to detail in the rooms was everything you would want. They had personalized notes and an anniversary ballon when we arrived. The shower pressure was fantastic and the heated towel rack is always a nice touch. Dinner and breakfast were so good!! The bar had so many great tap beer selections (cask options as well). The Ferry Inn is one of those special small hotels with a truly personal touch. Every detail has been tended to, from the greeting at the front door to the insanely comfortable bed and deep bathtub. Family run—by a family with loads of personality—this renovated old stone building has been redone in style. Visitors are made to feel welcome and comfortable. The location is convenient for exploring Skye and far enough away from Portree to avoid crowds. The restaurant is also excellent, with an interesting variety of small plates. The breakfast is a feast (best poached eggs anywhere). I would highly recommend The Ferry Inn and look forward to returning.
Tips:Dinner options are tough on Skye and you have to book in advance. The hotel gives priority to guests for dinner and I strongly recommend it as an option.

Perfect location when visiting Skye. The host and his companion (the West Highland Terrier Mac) are very welcoming. The hotel, restaurant, and bar are intimate and frequented by locals which makes the experience that much richer. Dinner at the inn was excellent, but only 10 seatings at a time so booking early is a must.
Tips:In Uig, per se, not much. But, it is at the origin of a magnificent drive around the northern tip of Skye to Portree. Also, the ferry to Harris and Lewis departs from there. Easy to get to Dunvegan Castle and other sites on Skye. Although Uig appears north and remote, it is not and the scenery is beyond beautiful. I will definitely return to The Ferry Inn when I return to Skye.

Faultless. Everything had been thought of and we felt welcome the second we walked through the door. You can see the hard work the owners put in and you feel the benefits of it, from binoculars in the room, to the perfect glasses with beer/wine. Really lovely place.

What a special place! The quality of the offering and attention to detail here are second to none. Great personal service, immaculate surroundings, amazing food and drink choices, super comfy bed, powerful rain shower and beautiful toiletries. This place is as near perfect as you can get! The ONLY downside was the fact we had to leave. If you're on Skye then your stay is not complete until you have experienced the Ferry Inn. Truly beautiful stuff.
Tips:Uig is a great location on Skye whether or not you're intending to hop over to the Islands or just want to explore the north of Skye in more detail. The Fairy Glen and the Quairaing are a stones throw away (both highly recommended) and if you're island hopping, the Ferry Port is literally within sight. The food and drink offering at the Ferry Inn is outstanding so we didn't venture out elsewhere but in all honesty, why would you?! In the evening the Langoustines are unbeatable, as are the Haddock Goujons and the Scallops. For breakfast the Full Scottish is amazing (the scrambled egg is the best we've ever had!) and the Herby Mushrooms are top notch. Gordon has a great Whiskey selection so if you fancy trying a wee dram with a great view you're in the right place! Enjoy yourselves.

We had the room nr. 1, which was very beautiful. Good bed, spacy bathroom, nice view through a big window. You have to tell what kind of breakfast you want the next morning (homework). There is a great number of choices you have. The Innkeaker is very friendly, an ex drummer, so there is always cool rock music in the Pub. In the morning the music is calmer... We had a five nights stay, and had dinner in the inn every evening. All the meals we got have been delicious, really well done, very spicy. The cook, the son of the owner, is genius. The daughter makes the service, always friendly. Over all a perfect stay for us, a couple about 60 years old... From Germany, so excuse the English.

Honestly couldn’t recommend it more highly. If you see a day available you SNAP THAT UP because it’s everything that is good about a b&b, a hotel, a bar and restaurant, and an island all in one. The room was spacious and the bath and shower huge with strong water pressure. There’s a personal coffee machine and all kinds of tea (good tea, decaf tea, herbal teas) and homemade shortbread too. The mugs in the room are ACTUAL MUGS not those tragic little round crappy hotel ones you can not even get your finger around. The bed is comfy. The food is incredible. The bar is friendly and welcoming, and the sitting room is pleasant and quiet. (I sat there for hours on Saturday night reading and drinking whisky, listening to the laughter and chatter from the next room, watching the light dim out the window, and was so content). The banter is good. The people are kind. The dog loves everybody (I even heard the hilarious story of the exception). Oh, and it’s only a half hour walk up and round the hill to the Faerie Glen which is glorious at any time of day - I enjoyed it in the mist and silence of the morning.
Tips:Food and drink here are lovely. Faerie glen only a half hours walk (recommend the walk rather than driving if you’re staying in Uig!)

We had an absolutely beautiful couple of days staying at the Ferry Inn this August. The Inn is such a carefully curated, special place. The decor is completely unique and you can see the love that has gone into every inch of the Inn. The personal touches in the rooms from the robes, to the toiletries to the wee dram makes the entire experience feel surreal. We can't wait to come back one day in the future.
Tips:Buy a nice bath bomb from Skye soaps in portree on your way up and enjoy it when you get to the inn. Pack waterproof everything & enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather.

First class service. Loved the relaxed atmosphere. Excellent food. Great cocktails , should you want one. Small details make all the difference to us such as hot dinner plates, excellent well presented food which was better than the Michelin star restaurant we visited in Skye, and that's no lie., comfortable lounge and bar seats were also a bonus. Rooms that had a fragrant just laundered smell was pleasing together with clean fresh ensuite. Service was excellent and nothing to much bother. Will definitely make it our go to accommodation when returning.
Tips:Book well in advance as rooms are limited this is a family run business where everybody chips in. So please be patient. Excellent location as you are less than a few minutes away from the ferry port for Harris. Great location for exploring that side of the island.

Had a fantastic stay at Ferry Inn. We discovered it on Instagram with fabulous photos and posts, we knew it was going to be great! First was the lovely candle aroma and cosy lighting as you enter the property together with a warm welcome from the owner Gordon. Room was beautifully decorated, warm and very comfortable. With Anna's friendly greeting at dinner and the amazing pre dinner cocktail....we felt ever so relaxed. Evening dinner cooked by Hamish, was very very tasty, good selection and beautifully cooked. We enjoy trying new places to eat out and we certainly weren't disappointed! Gordon cooked up a fabulous breakfast, good choice and again all freshly cooked to order. This family run Inn, has a winning combination... friendly, warm and comfortable accommodation, fab food, great service and yummy cocktails. Attention to detail is obvious throughout, you really do feel at home here. Huge thanks to all the team, including their cutest wee West Highland Terrier "Mac".... we look forward our return. Thank you!
Tips:We stayed in a Bay View room so were able to see the Ferry as it sailed in from the Western Isles, the Restaurant and lounge area face this way also. Great base in which to explore Skye. Although next to main road the Inn is very quiet. Plenty off-road parking right outside the door.

We really loved our time at the Ferry Inn. Gordon & Anna were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was impeccably clean and had a wonderful view over Uig bay. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed sampling some of the wide selection of gins at the bar! We’ve already booked to go back next year!
Tips:Definitely book ahead early if you want to stay at the Ferry Inn - it’s a small family run business and very popular! If you aren’t staying at the Ferry Inn we’d recommend their restaurant as the food is amazing - though at present, early in the easing of restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant aren’t fully open to non residents - but we’d suggest checking! As for places to visit - we love walking on the Quiraing and Trotternish Peninsular and would recommend it! Further afield visiting Coral Beach, near Dunvegan, Neist Point, Talisker Bay and a boat trip from Elgol to the internal Loch Coruisk surrounded by the Cuillins are some of our top picks.

The Ferry Inn is a really like a small ‘boutique hotel’. The attention to detail, the lovely contemporary decor, log burners, books, comfy cushions, fantastic music, flowers and beautiful scents from candles that linger about the place all create a lovely atmosphere which hits you as soon as you walk in and sit in the lounge. We have stayed in both a sea view and a garden room now and both are again beautifully appointed and have comfortable beds and good sized, immaculately clean bathrooms. We always eat at the Inn as the food has local fresh produce that is cooked to a very high standard with a nice selection of wines. The decision was taken that the Inn will open late in March this year, but as we had booked last year for 2 nights in early March they still honoured our booking. Indeed we were the only customers on one night but no effort was spared, we were very well looked after and had our choice of everything. That truly is the mark of a good hotel! Of course ultimately it is the staff that make any hotel and Gordon and his family are very welcoming and highly professional. We will certainly be staying again soon. Deborah and Graham Mouat

We came back in 2019 (and stayed for two days and nights) because we stayed at The Ferry Inn in 2018 and LOVED it - Gordon and Anna and all their staff were, and remain, the best of hosts, friendly, informative, professional and welcoming. The chef is superb and dinner and breakfast are among the best we have enjoyed in many trips we have taken to Scotland. This year we brought my brother and his partner with us to stay in Uig, and they were just as impressed as we had been last year. I can't imagine ever coming to Skye again without staying at The Ferry Inn.
Tips:Just check with Gordon - he knows all conceivable directions, local interest sites, even how long it will take to drive anywhere on Skye, AND the state of the roads! We liked Dunvegan Castle and its gardens, the haunting ruins of Duntulm Castle, the beautiful drive from Portree to the northern tip of the Trotternish peninsula, the boat trip into the "heart of the Cuillin" (and the views of the Cuillin from Sligahan) and the fantastic walking in the Quiraing and up to the Old Man of Storr.

Breakfast selection is everything you could want, all very easy and a grand start to the day.
Tips:Very handy for the ferry to Harris, 5 minutes. A well stocked shop along the road, Rankins for the last minute food or drinks to start your holiday, when you get off the ferry. The Ferry Inn was by far the best portion of our two weeks in Scotland.

Stunning venue for food, drinks and accommodation. The food is delish and served by friendly staff. Everyone at the ferry inn is welcoming from the minute you walk threw the door. The accommodation rooms are spotless and are very comfortable.
Tips:Uig Bay is full of interesting things to do and a great central point to spend a couple of days to explore the north east peninsular. We enjoyed walks such as fairy glen and the Quiraing.

Gordon and his family are the bonus in this first class experience. Everything is well done in this sweet little spot. We loved all of it! Originally booked dur to proximity to the Farey Glen.
Tips:Value for price paid is awesome!

We loved staying at the Ferry Inn, and will definitely be back. The owners have spared no expense in creating a very welcoming and stylish place to stay...and to eat. The food in the restaurant was superb - and a wonderful full Scottish breakfast really set us up for the day. Our bedroom was lovely with views across fields towards the sea, and the bathroom was beautifully appointed with a gorgeous rain shower, fluffy white towels and Noble Isle toiletries. Thank you to the Ferry Inn for a memorable visit.
Tips:The Ferry Inn is ideally placed for an overnight stay if you (as we were) are catching the morning ferry over to Harris. But...Skye is a wonderful island to explore and the Inn is in an especially good location for visiting the spectacular Quiraing area of the Trotternish ridge with the Cuillins easily accessible too. No need to go out to eat - you'd be hard pressed to beat the food on offer at the Ferry Inn - delicious!
