A picture-perfect holiday home – absolutely recommendable! Our stay at this wonderful holiday home was simply amazing, and we would have loved to stay much longer! The hosts were absolutely fantastic – from the first contact to our departure. They personally waited for us on arrival and welcomed us with such warmth and kindness that we immediately felt at home. One of the highlights was the generous welcome package with groceries, which was a lovely surprise after our long journey. The house itself was perfectly equipped – we didn’t miss a thing, and everything was thoughtfully designed, modern yet cozy. The fireplace added a wonderfully warm and homely atmosphere. The location is unbeatable: the view from the house is breathtaking, and as if that wasn’t enough, we were able to spot seals right outside! The spacious property offers plenty of privacy and space to relax. With the EV charging station, it was easy to keep our electric car charged. We were so thrilled that we spontaneously extended our stay by two nights – and would have loved to stay 100 more. There’s really nothing to complain about. For our personal taste, the pillows were a bit uncomfortable, but that’s just nitpicking, as everything else was absolutely perfect. This holiday home exceeded all of our expectations, and we highly recommend it – everything about this place is just right!

I love coming back to An Clamhan again and again and it is lovely when you are greeted with the words "welcome home". I can't praise the work Caron and Iain have put into this wonderful house enough. Everything is top of the range and there is always an amazing welcome pack with items which cater for my dietary needs. It is a little piece of heaven. I will be going back again.

Tips:

A generous welcome pack is provided as there are no shops near by. Shops can be found in Dunvegan 5 mile's away and there is a Co-Op in Portree. The Three Chimneys restaurant is a short walk away. It is a destination restaurant so you have to book well in advance. The house has a number of books detailing local sightseeing areas.

Very good option for your stay on the Isle of Skye. Luxurious cottage with all things you need for a wonderfull time, well maintained and clean, situated on a beautifull spot at the water with a direct view on the sealife ober there. Calming and relaxing place to be, like a ray of sun in todays busy world. Also very hospitable and friendly hosts!

Tips:

Restaurant 'The Dunvegan' serves an excellent and original vegetarian menu. This restaurant is a 10 min drive away.

### Five-Star Review for An Clamhan Self-Catering Lodge Our stay at An Clamhan Self-Catering Lodge was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed by the hosts, Caron and Iain. Their friendliness and helpfulness made a big difference. The lodge offers stunning views, and the facilities are excellent. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the entire place is very comfortable. Everything was clean and well-maintained, making our stay very enjoyable. A highlight of our trip was the Two Chimney restaurant. The kitchen table experience was outstanding. Thanks to Caron and Iain's advice, we booked in advance, which I highly recommend as the restaurant is very popular. Overall, An Clamhan Lodge is a perfect choice for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Highly recommended!

Caron & Iain have created the most beautiful home in a tranquil setting. Everything from the luxury feel of An Clamham to the tasteful interior design ticked all of our boxes for what made a memorable stay. The welcome goodies were very much appreciated too and the thoughtful anniversary card. We appreciated the attentive check in and check out too. We would definitely return and hope to plan another trip before too long! Thank you both.

Best place we’ve ever stayed. This is the gold standard of self catering accommodation. Chic, stylish, luxurious and in a gorgeous, private setting. Iain and Caron were helpful, friendly, responsive and unintrusive. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway, it is truly perfect.

Tips:

We recommend Neist Point, Talisker Bay and the Quiraing walk. Walking boots essential and recommend proper outdoor clothing. The Quiraing views are spectacular but the path is steep and uneven in places. Early booking of restaurants essential.

What a wonderful place to stay. A beautiful setting, a modern and well presented cabin, and friendly and welcoming owners. The cabin is warm, comfortable, and more spacious than it looks. The fixtures and fittings, from the oven to the shower, are all high quality and a pleasure to use. The bed is large and comfortable and there's clearly been an attention to detail in the design of the cabin. Highly recommended.

Another wonderful stay at An Clamhan. We are always made so welcome and the property is clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The weather was also excellent this year, showing the loch and the surrounding landscape in the best light.

Tips:

The property is very convenient for the Three Chimneys restaurant and there are other very good restaurants nearby and there is plenty of good walking in this part of Skye. We saw seals in the loch on only one occasion but that mainly because of the state of the tide while we were there.

First time on the Isle of Skye (and the island did not disappoint). Likewise, An Clamhan, provided an absolutley fabulous base from which to explore the island. A beautifully appointed property with every convenience and applaince of the highest quality. Oft-times, pictures of holiday properties to rent can flatter the accommodation – not An Clamhan – it really is as beatifully appointed as it looks. My wife and I stayed for 4 nights (late July/early August 2023) and we wanted for nothing. The property had every convenience you could wish for (and all top quality from cutlery/tableware, dishwasher, coffee machine, induction hob, combined cooker/microwave, automated blinds, large modern TV and sound system, powerful mounted binoculars for viewing local wildlife and seal spotting). Our hosts – Caron and Iain - were very welcoming and took all the time needed to walk us through the property and explain what was what and how to get the best from the house and it’s features. A great base from which to explore the beautiful island of Skye (albeit you will quickly realise that you’re best to treat some of the island’s roads as quaint and rustic with quite a number of large stretches being single track with multiple passing places to try manage the through traffic). Loved our time at An Clamhan – will defintiely be back.

Tips:

The three chimneys restaurant (formerly a michelin star restaurant) comes with a reputationj for "fine dining". For our part, we were very disappointed with both service and quality of the food. For the kind of money you are asked to spend here - our advice would be dont.

An Clamhan is a beautifully positioned property with a lovely view. The building itself fits into the landscape so well and the view of the sea and the peaceful grounds mean that it's restful from the word go. Caron and Iain have thought of everything - normally I find myself saying 'if only they'd thought of' but they have thought of everything. It's perfect. And the warm welcome and personal touches were much appreciated. I have done a lot of travelling for work and pleasure and this property is at the top of the list. It's certainly a property that you could use as a base for exploring or alternatively as a perfect, calm retreat.

Tips:

A walk along the road is the famous Three Chimneys restaurant. Dunvegan has many more which were of variable quality and the village seemed to close down by 9pm if you are the kind that eat/drink late. As a base for one part of Skye there is Skye Weavers, lots of potteries and artists' little places. I would get on the roads early or late in the day if you want to go to Neist Point or the Coral Beach and the like as the traffic jams in the middle of the day looked awful and hair-raising on some roads.

I have lost count of the times I have stayed here. The house is stunning with amazing views. Everything has been thought of and is scrupulously clean. There is even an electric charge point for your car. Iain and Caron are the most generous hosts. Looking forward to my next visit.

Tips:

The house is around 100m from The Three Chimneys restaurant. Well worth a visit but book early. The Old School restaurant in Dunvegan is very good too. Skye Silver jewellery is about a mile further along from the house and if you keep going you will come to Neist Point.

Absolutely stunning cabin on an idyllic piece of lush land by the Skye seaside. Private, yet close to amenities (15m from Dunvegan restaurants and shops, 45m from Portree). Incredible modern kitchen with induction stovetop, convection oven, and dishwasher - be sure to pick up some groceries and make some homemade meals. Other highlights include a cozy iron fireplace with provided firewood, a modern high-end soundbar for music, and a calming brook that runs through the property. Your neighbors will be the sheep who roam freely near but not on the property and the seals that you can watch from across the water through the mounted telescope. My mother and brother were immensely happy staying here and I was able to find a beautiful place to camp nearby.

Tips:

It's so comfortable that you'll almost have a hard time tearing yourself away to explore the legendarily beautiful surroundings. That said, almost anything you'd want to see on the Isle of Skye is within an hour drive.

Am Clanham is a fantastic property on the road to Glendale and Neist Point. It was clean, comfortable and a great base to come back to. Great view across Loch Dunvegan where you could watch the seals relaxing when the tide was out. Caron and Iain were very helpful with an appreciated touch leaving some food and wine on our arrival.

Tips:

Dunvegan Castle is not far and worth a visit, as is Neist Point. We stopped at Cafe Lephin in Glendale and had a superb lunch after a walk around Milovaig and Loch Pooltiel. There are lots of good art and craft places in the area that are well worth a visit.

Caron and Iain welcomed us into their beautifully situated and extremely well appointed holiday house. Everything has been carefully thought out and the house is an absolute pleasure to live in. We really did not want to leave at the end of our lovely 3 day stay! Our hosts had thoughtfully provided an extensive welcome package of food and drink. The following day, they contacted us to see that all was well. It certainly was! The house is situated in a small copse of trees in a lovely plot overlooking a beautiful bay. Through the telescope in the living room, seals were visible basking on nearby rocks. Everything was perfect. We would certainly return for another stay and thoroughly recommend An Clamhan for a relaxing stay in a stunning location.

Tips:

The 3 Chimneys, one of Scotland's finest restaurants is only 100 yards down the road. We would highly recommend the tasting menu served at the kitchen table. There are good walks locally. In particular the Neist lighthouse walk provides excellent views out to the Outer Hebrides and proximity to nesting seabirds on the cliffs.

This is simply the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in - anywhere in Scotland. The house is beautiful - warm, cosy, luxurious, well equipped with high quality fixtures, fittings and equipment - just perfect! It was so lovely to be greeted by Caron and Iain, and to be welcomed and shown around on arrival. The location is ideal as well. We didn't want to leave but will certainly be back. Thank you!

Tips:

The Three Chimneys (obviously!) - right next door. So much walking in the area. But just enjoy being there!

Caron and Iain are fantastic hosts with a wealth of knowledge about what to do on Skye. The property has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Beautifully furnished and lovely art work. Welcome pack had everything needed for the first evening stay. Would love to return one day as it was so relaxing.

Tips:

There was lots to do but the property is so cosy in winter it was hard to leave. Great entertainment just watching the wildlife over the water to Dunvegan Castle. It was nice to have the covered porch to sit out with lovely heavy blankets.

A wonderful home and great place to stay. The accommodation is furnished to an incredibly high standard and everything that you could possible need is available. Caron & Iain were great hosts and welcomed us to the property, gave us an overview and provided a lovely welcome hamper. A lovely place to stay with some great views across the loch.

Tips:

We can strongly recommend The Three Chimneys for dinner (we had two wonderful meals there and its only a 5 min walk from the accommodation) along with Loch Bay (a 25min drive) which was incredible.

Caron and Iain are fantastic hosts - warm, friendly, and full of good advice on how to make the most of your trip to Skye. An Clamhan itself is furnished to an extremely high standard and has excellent facilities. It is situated by the sea and has absolutely beautiful views. We wished we could have stayed for longer!

Tips:

The Dunvegan Deli does excellent lunches and freshly baked pastries. If your budget can stretch to it, then a visit to The Three Chimneys restaurant next door is a real must. An Clamhan is a stones throw from Dunvegan Castle, which is a lovely day out and also offers great seal watching boat trips

21st September 2021:

We had a fantastic stay at An Clamhan. The lodge was exceptionally clean with everything you could possibly need for a stay (and things you wouldn't even think of). Hosts Caron and Iain were super friendly and spent a little time explaining how everything worked and how to get the best out of the lodge - really appreciated this as we are not that technical! Wonderful views over the loch and you could not help but relax - we didn't want to go out! A lovely welcome hamper which was really appreciated with the basics - bread, milk, beer and wine etc - enough to get you started and a good pantry of condiments which are usually missing when self catering.

Tips:

We visited the three chimneys restaurant which was just a short stroll down the road which was good - highly recommend the pigeon pie. Walked to top of Dunvegan Head (not a track so you need to be able to read the lay of the land) exceptional views and worth the effort - if you have a dog then do keep it on a lead as a steep cliff drop at the top. Oyster Shed is definitely worth a visit - as well as the oysters the lobster and chips were amazing

We loved staying in this gorgeous lodge . Caron has excellent taste, everything was just perfect .There were no negatives at all The lodge had everything in it you could possibly wish for and it was spotless ! There is no need to bring condiments or cleaning material s and the welcome basket was lovely It will keep you going over night. There is a washing machine that Caron and Ian provided washing liquid for There’s also an iron and ironing board Did I mention that the bed has the most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on 😴

Tips:

You definitely need a car as it is remote but this added to the beauty of the location . We ate at the Three Chimneys - expensive but absolutely delightful and you can walk . There is nothing really else in strolling distance but plenty of restaurants within a short car journey.

We arrived early and Caron and Iain were very accommodating and allowed us an early entry to accommodation. They were excellent hosts who have thought of everything that you may need during your stay. The property itself was spotlessly clean, had excellent facilities and the styling of the property was, individual, unique and very complimentary to the property and location. We had a wonderful time and hopefully will return some day.

Tips:

Try and visit as much of Skye as you can, Dunvegan Castle and gardens are an excellent attraction. The Fairy pools were great and we had fantastic weather during our stay. Coral beach is stunning on a sunny day, but get there early as parking soon fills up. Neiste point lighthouse is a great walk. The Old School is a great restaurant and although we ate at the Three Chimneys, we did not enjoy the experience, no atmosphere and food pretty ordinary at over inflated prices. Roads at some attractions could be kept in better condition. Stunning scenery and walks all around Skye, go and explore.

An Clamhan is a little gem that served as a wonderful escape in September last year and was still as good in July this year! The bed is still as comfortable and the location is perfect. We will return the next time we need a fill of Skye scenery and food.

There is not one negative thing I can say about An Clamhan. It was absolutely perfect. A warm welcome was waiting for us from owners Caron and Iain when we arrived. The house had absolutely everything we needed and more. It was ultra clean and everything was to an extremely high standard. Sometimes when you see pictures online of holiday rentals they're never as good as their photos but I'd say this was even better than the great photos online! 29th September 2019:

We were lucky enough to spend 3 nights at An Clamhan in September 2019 and had the most fabulous stay. The property is a extremely high standard with high quality all fixtures and fittings, it has a very homely and welcoming feel as you enter. We were welcomed by the lovely owners and provided with a very generous welcome pack of provisions which was really helpful for our arrival. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped with everything you could need for self catering including a superb oven/microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and Nespresso machine (fab for us as coffee lovers!). There is also a washing machine, which we didn't use, but I'm sure we would on a longer stay. The living area is beautiful, with 2 comfortable sofas and floor to ceiling windows where you can watch the stunning sunrise and sunsets over the Loch across from the house, there is even a fabulous telescope from which we saw the local seals relaxing on rocks in the Loch from (a particular highlight for us!) We also enjoyed use of the log burner in the evenings which added to the cosy feel of the property. The bedroom is large and has a superb hanging unit and plenty of space for your belongings. The bed is a super king and the most comfortable mattress and linens we have ever slept on! Watching the sunrise from the bed was another highlight for us. The bathroom is stunning and the shower is excellent, lovely hot showers after a long, wet walk! The location of the property is great for getting out and about across Skye. Dunvegan is about a 12 minute drive and has a shop with all the provisions you will need and also the Old School restaurant where we had a wonderful meal and would highly recommend. We would also recommend a meal at The Three Chimneys restaurant, next door to the property, where you can have a taste of seafood straight from the Loch in front of you, 5 star food! We can't recommend this property enough, it is definitely 5 star and a great place to stay when visiting Skye. It is a very high quality property, luxurious with a homely feel and the owners were very helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be booking to stay here again next year.
