Perfect location, beautiful view from the balcony and front windows. Watch for the eagle, and the otters swimming in the loch. Best equipped cottage kitchen we've been in.
Tips:Would highly recommend Cafe Cuil just down the road. Very nice place to eat. Just remember petrol stations are few if you intend to do a lot of travelling .

A hugely memorable week. Fantastic weather, interspersed with classic Skye downpours. The cottage is perfectly placed for walking and climbing, facilites are top notch. Kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, etc. I hope to return next year, and probably the next as well. My thanks to your cleaning staff for being so kind and helpful. She was great.
Tips:The local pub is a delight. Food is fantastic, a huge step above normal pub grub. You can't book a table so be prepared to wait. It's worth it.

19th February 2024:
Torgorm is a lovely cosy and warm cottage overlooking Loch Harport. The beds are comfortable and it has been newly redecorated. Excellent standard of comfort and cleanliness, it's perfect for exploring Skye due to it's central location. Alternatively you can sit in the lounge or on the balcony and watch the sea eagles fishing in the loch. 10mins walk from the community shop and pub in Carbost.
Tips:Would recommend the Oyster Shed for it's amazing fresh lobster in garlic butter with beautiful views of the Cuillins. Caora dhubh (Black Sheep) coffee hut in Carbost has wonderful coffee and a spectacular view. Talisker Bay with it's golden eagles and the Fairy Pools are only 10mins by car.

13th November 2023:
Wonderful cottage. Well-equipped and close to a small shop for essentials and a wonderful inn for good food and mingling with the locals. The cottage has a lovely deck overlooking Loch Harport and it is just beautiful. Sam, the woman who takes care of the cottage and lives 5 minutes away, is so lovely and helpful. Paul, the owner, is attentive and quick to answer questions. I needed Paul and Sam to do a special thing for me and they were delightful, not begrudging the request. I could not have asked for a better experience than we had. If you've a desire to see wild Scotland as we had, this is definitely your cup of tea! I so loved it!
Tips:There is a hairpin turn down the lane to the cottage off the main road coming into Carbost. If you are a bit intimidated by it the solution is a simple one block or so drive straight ahead and then turn around at the Community Shop carpark to approach the lane straight on. If you can, you MUST visit the Fairy Pools....just wildly gorgeous no matter the weather.

We really enjoyed our stay - the view from the cottage was stunning and we found the location was great for all the things we wanted to do. Facilities in the cottage were great - the beds were particularly comfortable.
Tips:The Olde Inn at Carbost was a favorite place to go after a busy day - it's within walking distance of the cottage and has a nice outside seating area for warmer days. The food is very tasty. Talisker bay was also worth the visit and we enjoyed a walk to the fairy pools too. There was a craft fair at the community hall in Portnalong when we visited that served generous portions of lunches and cake.

Exceeded all expectations. Clean, charming, well situated. Excellent comms from the owner from start to finish. Incredibly well equipped. I wanted foil for cooking? - tick. I wanted sellotape to fix something? - tick. The pans etc. were all of a very high standard unlike some of the junk that you often find in holiday accommodation. I really can't fault Torgorm cottage - an excellent place to stay.
Tips:On a sunny evening in summer look west along the lock to see a truly magical sunset, and get your camera out.

Fantastic location. House was perfect for our long planned for break. Brilliant communication from the owners. House was fully equipped, beds comfortable, and appliances of a high quality.
Tips:Fantastic location. House was warm and well insulated. Great library of maps, guides and local attractions. Local pub The Old Inn was really welcoming and beer, whiskey and food were of great quality. Talisker visitor centre is very impressive, dog friendly too. Oyster shack just a short climb up the tarmac hill behind the distillery is fantastic if you love seafood. A trip down to the campsite cafe at Glenbrittle is a must. Great coffee and pastries. Coop in Broadford had everything we needed. The butcher on Kyle of loch ish is really good, closed on Mondays but the haggis and sausages were absolutely fantastic. Totally recommend Torgorm and Skye. Can’t wait to return.

19th August 2022:
Excellent location overlooking Loch Harport in the village of Carbost. The kitchen was well equipped. Especially liked that OS and Landranger maps had been provided too for the local areas. These helped us quite a lot. Directions had been provided very clearly before we set off. Paul had also mentioned about Supermarket stores being available in Broadford and Portree on a Sunday too. This helped us plan accordingly.
Tips:A visit to the Oyster Shed is a must for Seafood enthusiasts. The Hungry Gull at Staffin do good brunches and coffees and cakes too. The cottage is suited to watch the sunset at Talisker Bay, which is just 4.4 miles away (A short walk of a mile from the Car Park to the bay). Talisker Distillery is a 5 mins walk from the Cottage. Fairy Pools and Glenbrittle too are quite close. We visited the Sligachan Old Bridge and did the walk at Glen Sligachan too. Niest Point, Old Man of Storr, Falls of Rha, Fairy Glen, Brother's Point (Rhubh Na Braitheren), Lealt Falls, Kilt Rock, Otter Haven at Kylerhea were some of the other attractions that we visited.

Fabulous cottage, spotlessly clean, beautiful views, everything you need for the family. Skye bakery hamper was an added treat with hot cheese scones to die for. Could not fault! Very hard to leave at the end of the week, best holiday ever!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tips:Spar Cave Fairy pools Quairing Coral beach Talisker beach The old inn to eat Skye bakery was LUSH!! Dunvegan castle with boat ride All of the above were fab! Give harbour fish n chips in Portree a miss, expensive and tiny portions. Bring food shopping with you as Co-op is pricey!

12th June 2022:
A fantastic cottage with uninterrupted views across the lake. Really well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and sitting room, plenty of hot water and easily controlled heating. Parking is next to the house which is very convenient and it is wonderfully quiet but with easy access to many of the islands attractions. The complimentary food from the bakery was absolutely delicious and very much appreciated. The maps and walking guides at the property also proved very useful
Tips:The Talisker brewery is a 5 minute walk away and there is a well equipped shop, a post office and pub in the village. The brewery are also in the process of building a posh new restaurant/cafe. There are plenty of walks within easy driving distance in the Cullin mountains or along the coast. It is also a good base for wildlife spotting. We had fantastic close up sightings of golden eagles quite near as well as seals and porpoise.

Great location on Skye, especially for access to the Black Cuillin Ridge for walking and climbing. Nice views from the house which is walking distance to the local shop and excellent local pub. The house is comfortable and has good facilities although I personally found the mattresses a bit on the soft side, as suffering from back ache I prefer a more supportive mattress
Tips:The Old Inn Carbost, Talisker Distillery, Taigh Ailean Hotal Portnalong & Donald John's Cafe near Satran

3 hillwalking friends and I had an excellent week at Torgorm in early May. It's an ideal base for exploring the Cuillin, being only a few miles from Glen Brittle, and the excellent Old Inn is only a short walk away in the village of Carbost. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week at this fine cottage and would definitely recommend it.
Tips:The Old Inn, Carbost is the only pub for miles, but it's superb, and serves good local produce. The Talisker Distillery makes for an interesting tour (Also Carbost). Further afield, Glen Brittle is only a few miles away and is the base for many of the routes into the Cuillin mountains. The Fairy Pools is usually very busy (£5 parking charge), but it's quieter further down the glen. The Beach Cafe at the end of the road (through the campsite) is also recommended.

The cottage was great, even nicer than in the photos! Fantastic location, lots to do in the area or further afield. Carbost is a lovely village with a great pub, coffee shop, distillery, swing park, village shop, all a short walk from the cottage. We’re hoping to be back soon! Thank you
Tips:Don’t miss local gems like Fiskavaig Bay, Talisker Beach, Oronsay at low tide. The Old Inn and the coffee shop opposite the distillery highly recommended. Cath Waters gallery and workshop up the hill also well worth a visit!

Well equipped comfortable cottage. Particularly appreciated the welcome food pack.
Tips:Avoid the nearby Fairy Pools during the day which have become ridiculously busy - best visited in the early morning or late evening. Similar issue at other tourist hotspots such as Neist Point, Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing. Can recommend the nearby Old Inn for food and beer, plus live music on Wed, Thur and Fri evenings.

Every thing we wanted was there. Very comfortable and the box of "goodies" much appreciated
Tips:The nearby Old Inn serves good food at a reasonable price (5 min walk), bar attached to the Sligahan Hotel also good (15 min drive away). Although there's a boat tour advertised within Carbost it had limited sailings so we decided to use the Stardust Tour from Portree and weren't disappointed...close up view of White-Tailed sea Eagle excellent!
