Only ask David: he has great tips. For us Applecross was one of the most amazing thing to see. We liked having diner in Dorie at the pub.

An excellent bed and breakfast. Location is good for touring this area. Accommodation is very good with David and Lisa being able to give you lots of information and advice on the local area.

Tips:

The only problem we found that local eateries tended to have limited opening hours so it is best to take provisions with you or book in advance.

We loved the place! Stunning location with wonderful views from the breakfast room, we even spotted a deer across the river! Breakfast was delicious and the room was lovely, with very comfortable mattress and bedding. Host Lisa and David are charming, welcoming and full of tips for Skye. Thanks for the nice chat!

Tips:

Unfortunately, we only spend a couple of nights at Seadrift and one whole day visiting Skye. My tip is: stay for a week and enjoy the calm and the beauty of the place.

What a wonderful place! We loved the personal welcome from Dave and Lisa, the genuine desire to help and suggest things to do and places to eat locally (all of which were excellent), the delicious cake on arrival and waiting in our room on our return on the afternoon of the second day, THE VIEW from our room and from the breakfast room, the wonderful breakfast cooked to order, with more delicious treats...and we could go on! We're very much hoping to return next year to this perfect place. Thankyou so much Dave and Lisa!

Tips:

Recommendations from Dave and Lisa - Whisky Distillery on Isle of Raasay (fascinating and excellent tastings), the ferry to Raasay with walks nearby, walks near the Cuillans on Skye, wonderful pubs nearby with excellent seafood... and many more! Dave and Lisa are mines of information and can suggest many options depending on interests.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seadrift. We’re walking around the coast of Britain, and of the 140 or so B & B/ hotels that we’ve stayed at, Seadrift is right up there at the top of our ‘favourites’ list. The place is spotless, comfortable & spacious. On arrival we were provided with tea & cake, and there were also drinks making facilities in our room. The breakfast was excellent, with a great choice of fruit, cereal, porridge, homemade muesli bread, and a choice of cooked breakfast. Our hosts, David & Lisa were extremely friendly & helpful, and went the extra mile to make our stay extremely comfortable. Would definitely recommend a stay at Seadrift!

Wow the views at this bed and breakfast took our breath away and then we went inside. We had two double rooms, which are beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable, quiet and of course the lovely view through the windows. The shower was wonderfully powerful. On arrival we were served tea with homemade lemon drizzle cake, specially made for my coeliac sister-in-law.. Wow. Breakfast was amazing. So much on offer and so delicious - scrumptious porridge with either plum or rhubarb and ginger compote, cereals, granola, fruit, yoghurt, banana loaf and homemade non gluten scottish pancakes, banana loaf and toast. Then a full breakfast. Lisa went to so much trouble to please and is such a lovely lady. David and Lisa have certainly put a lot of work in to make this bed and breakfast a wonderful place to stay. When we come back to Skye and Kyle of Lochalsh this will certainly be where we want to stay again.

Tips:

3rd November 2018:

David & Lisa were superb hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. Their B&B is situated in a beautiful location right on the water. One morning I counted over 25 herons just sitting in the loch! When we arrived David & Lisa welcomed us with a drink & a piece of Lisa's tasty, homemade lemon cake. We sat & chatted about what we wanted to do during our short stay. They had lots of ideas & suggested a different way to see the Fairy Pools which was one of the things on our list to do. Our bedroom looked out over the water. It was a lovely warm, comfortable room. The room was very clean with a good shower which was greatly appreciated after a day of walking. The drinks making facilities were second to none with not only your usual things but also a coffee maker with a choice of different coffee pods & fresh milk each night. There were lots of hangers provided in the wardrobe & plenty of drawer space for all your things. At the end of each day we were greeted with a drink & a delicious piece of Lisa's cake. Breakfast was one of the best we have had in all our years of staying in various B&Bs in many different countries. There was always lovely porridge available & a great choice of fresh fruit, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, melon, kiwi plus Lisa's homemade fruit compote. The granola topping was homemade & the best I've ever tasted. Choice of luxury yogurt, freshly made pancakes & banana loaf, homemade of course we're also available. If you still had any room after all that then David would do a cooked breakfast for you. There was the choice of a full Scottish breakfast or scrambled eggs either by itself or with local smoked salmon. David & Lisa really do go that extra mile to make your stay memorable & I thoroughly recommend staying at their superb B&B. Will definitely be back if in the area again. Thank you both very much for making us feel so welcome.

Tips:

Recommend walk to Fairy Pools starting at Sligachan. The Quiraing circular going through the Quiraing & up and over the top. Can be very muddy & boggy & steep on the way back but well worth it. The Taste of Indian restaurant at Kyleakin serves a great choice of curries. Food at the Dornie hotel is lovely & good value.

Enjoyed our two night stay at Seadrift. Room was immaculate, bed was comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The cake and tea in our room in the evening was most welcome after a long day of travelling. Location was very convenient for touring around Isle of Skye. David was very pleasant and helpful. Our room had twin beds. There was no desk or chair. Nowhere to sit in the room. I had to use the dining room to write up my journal. No common sitting room. The TV was tiny - the smallest we have seen in any acomodation we have booked ever. The breakfast was very nice. We especially enjoyed the fresh berries. David sets a nice table and there is a water view from the window.

I have stopped at hundreds of B&Bs over the years but Seadrift ranks at the very top. Lisa and David could not have been more helpful friendly and welcoming. We were given tea, coffee and cake on arrival and given lots of advice on what to see and do on the island with the aid of their large scale map (across the full wall of the dining room). One morning we had to leave early to catch the Jacobite Express so David prepared us a full packed breakfast including Bacon sandwiches, home made cake, bananas and a flask of coffee. The accommodation, food and location were all first class and we cannot wait to return. Anyone wishing to explore the Isle of Skye with information on boat trips, whisky distillery visits, animal watching, and tourist spots could not do better than stay at the Seadrift for an immensely enjoyable holiday.

Simply perfect! We have been at Seadrift for three night. Stunning view of the bay, spacious and well furnished room. Quite location, but close to the way for Skye. Top-notch breakfast: in addiction to the full scottish, there was also abundance of fresh fruit, a delicious compote of rhubarb, and home-made cake. If all this was not enough, the owners Lisa and David are wonderful... Very friendly and helpful, they welcomed us with a tasty slice of cake, tea and coffee in front of the sea and David suggested us numerous opportunities to visit Skye.

We spent an amazing two nights at Sea Drift and would return without doubt! David and Lisa were fantastic hosts and our room was lovely. The breakfasts were top notch and The homemade cakes to die for. This is a really excellent B and B that is situated in paradise!

Tips:

Stay longer! Two days did not do the region justice. Must place to visit is Plockton and the surrounding villages. Plenty of good and well priced places to eat and a local supermarket to buy picnic foods too.

What an amazing B&B. We were so lucky to find this place. The hosts couldn't have been more attentive. Cake and tea on arrival, and upon finding out that our son and his girlfriend just got engaged they surprised us with a bottle of Prosecco! The rooms were amazing and comfortable, and extremely well put together and so clean. It was hard to get out of bed in the morning. We were a group of 6, and they let us enjoy the rooms and the dining space as if they were our own. One of our days we had planned a long hike and then a meal out. However due to weather conditions we were drenched and had to return to the B&B much earlier than planned. They were happy again to let us use the dining room as our own, and even put all of our wet gear in the dryer. Truly it was a home away from home and even better. Not a negative comment.

Tips:

We had lots of ideas of own, but David and Lisa were so helpful in advising where to go or not to go to avoid the regular tourist traps. They have a great location with a beautiful view, so it was a pleasure to enjoy and leisurely breakfast and just look out the window! Our family are all dog lovers, so getting to spend time with Griff the dog was an added bonus! He is so well trained, so if you are not a dog lover he will stay out of your way.

Seadrift is a very nice B&B. The owners Lisa and David let us feel like being home, we liked the nice conversations with both of them. David had great tipps what to do and which beautiful hidden places you can go for hiking etc. He showed them on a huge map on the wall in the breakfast room. The breakfast is very delicious and made with love, also the yummy cake! We highly recommend Seadrift B&B. Hildegard and Andreas, Germany

In one word: PERFECT: location: quiet, beautiful views over the loch, near to Skye, Eilean Donan Castle, room: very clean, spacious, very comfy kingsize bed, coffee/tea/home made cake in the room, bathroom with good shower, toiletries, breakfast could not have been better: various fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals, cooked or continental breakfast etc. Breakfast room with views over the loch. When we arrived we were invited by David and Lisa to join them and other guests for a drink, which was good fun. We really felt spoiled during our stay. Hope to be back one day!

Our stay was very enjoyable. The room was big and comfortable. Nice to watch DVDs. Can bring your own or select one of the existing DVDs on-site. Breakfast had all you would think of. Full warm breakfast, fresh fruit and other treats like a delicious home made cake. If you do not want to stay the night on the Isle of Skye best address. Nice view. David was a very good host. He gave us a lot of tips for sightseeing, easy hiking, and good eating places. We liked the pies at Glenview.

Tips:

Try the pies at The Glenview Skye Pie Cafe. Fairy Glen for walking, Dunvegan Castle if weather is not so good, Beautiful Staffin and Quaraing, Kilt Rock Wasserfall, Hiking in the Black Cuillins starting in Sligachan after having a meal in the Sligachan Hotel. Thank you, David!

Seadrift is a lovely place to stay, set in the most beautiful location. Lisa & David are wonderful hosts. When we arrived David made us feel so welcome, we sat down for a chat with coffee and gingerbread. Our room was so nice and the view from our window was beautiful. Breakfast at Seadrift is amazing, with plenty of options. The scrambled eggs are a must! Also have to compliment Lisa on her rhubarb and custard cake, it was delicious! Thank you Lisa & David for making our stay so enjoyable, we look forward to coming back to see you both soon. Gillian & Neil, Carnoustie

Tips:

The Clachan Inn in Dornie serves delicious food, and although you may have to wait for a table, you can relax with a drink while you wait and take in the lovely views. Eilean Donan Castle is a must, it's the reason we came and it's worthwhile passing by later at night to see it lit up, stunning!

Lisa and David made us so welcome and were extremely friendly and helpful. The best location on our North Coast 500 trip. Lisa's wonderful freshly cooked breakfast was easily the best too. Sadly we only stayed one night but will be back for more!

Tips:

Worth making sure you have a dinner booking locally as there aren't many restaurants. David advised us of this in advance so we booked Hector's Bothy in Kyle of Lochalsh which has simple fayre and decor but it's fresh and home-cooked. Ask Lisa and David about taking the Glenelg ferry to Skye, returning via the road bridge. They suggested it to us as a quick add-on to our trip and it was well worth it.

Tips:

Well positioned for travel to south of Skye and around Lochaber. Nearest eateries are in Dornie about 2 miles away (Dornie Hotel and Clachan Inn) but aren't always open in the winter. There are a couple of places in Kyle but Plockton about 15-20 mins drive has 3 which appear to be the best options if you don't mind the drive.

We were made to feel very welcome by David with welcome cup of coffee and some fruit cake. It was lovely to chat and find out about them and the area. Nothing was too much trouble the room was great and the bed was very comfortable wish we stayed longer. Breakfast was very enjoyable. Both David and Lisa are very friendly and easy to talk too

Loved our stay here, wish it could have been longer! The viiew was really spectacular. Lisa and David were very welcoming, warm and friendly. Lisa is an excellent baker. We loved her rhubarb and custard cake which was offered to us with a lovely pot of tea on arrival. The breakfast buffet was great. There was also a choice of a cooked breakfast with the freshest eggs from their very friendly chickens. Very comfortable, clean bedroom with everything we needed including the best views from the window. For travellers looking for information about places to see or walks David was very helpful and knowledgable. Well worth a visit! A real treat

Not far from Kyle of Lochalsh, Dornie, Plockton and Skye. Surrounded by beautiful places to visit and lots of great walks.

Would stay more than 1 night next time, and explore the area ( Skye, Kyle, Loch Carron etc). But we were using this B and B as a stopover En-route to the North. All-in-all a lovely experience.

Excellent. The location and views are superb. The hosts welcoming and friendly. The room has everything you could want with a very comfortable bed and very good shower. Breakfast was a good size and the buffet had plenty of choice. David and Lisa's knowledge of the area was a bonus, with the help of an enormous wallpaper map of the area David suggested routes and places we might like to see and where good view points and restaurants were. Would stay again any time and will definitely recommend to family and friends but 2 nights is essential in such a beautiful area.

Tips:

2 nights at least here as it takes a whole day just to look around Skye taking in most of the main points. Fish and chips in Plockton. August is very busy on Skye so leave plenty of time and be prepared for very slow driving on smaller roads with passing places.

Our stay at Seadrift could not have been more perfect. We only stayed for one night while touring Scotland and although we stayed in some great places this was by far the best. Our room was a good size with a comfy bed and a fantastic view of the loch, everything was high quality and the hospitality was above and beyond. We went out exploring Skye and when we returned home baked cake and fresh milk had been left in our room, little touches like this made our stay feel special.. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and I'm ashamed to say I had 3 helpings of the home made granola and home made plum compot, it was delicious. The home made banana cake was also great. I wouldn't hesitate to return our stay was perfect.y

What a beautiful, peaceful location with stunning views from the breakfast room. Host Lisa is friendly, enthusiastic and very helpful. Breakfast was perfect - no complaints. Would certainly recommend to others. Such a nice place to retreat to after the 'crowds' of Plockton, and only 10 mins drive from Kyle. Suited us perfectly. (Two ladies - twin room).

So glad we stayed at Seadrift. David and Lisa are the perfect hosts. Friendly and accommodating and full of useful, local information. The accommodation was perfect, clean and comfortable and the breakfast amazing! Probably the best we have ever had in a B and B, and the lemon polenta cake was heavenly! We would highly recommend Seadrift to friends and family and look forward to a return visit in the future.

Please do not hesitate to stop there. Amazing view, so kind hosts, organic and local food (thank you girls for eggs), so quiet place. Pour les Français : réservez bien 2 ou 3 mois à l'avance et ne ratez pas cet endroit superbe. L'accueil est impeccable et très convivial. Très bien placé à proximité de l'île de Skye et de Dornie (château du film Highlander).

Tips:

Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle, the Old Man of Storr. If it rains, wait 30min and the sun will shine again:).Eat at the Dornie's pub "The Clachan" where the food is really good (French recommendation). In Scotland, anywhere you go, you won't be disappointed.

David & Lisa were fab when we arrived, Lisa's home-made cake on arrival was beautiful. Their home (B&B) was outstanding & a beautiful location to just watch the world go by. Well done to a very together and professional couple. we will send the pics from the tree house :-)

Thoroughly recommend Seadrift. Lisa and David could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The location was breathtaking - better in real life than the website. One morning we woke to see deer from our bedroom window. And the breakfasts were superb - creamy porridge, home made jams and marmalade, great choice of cold and hot options. Also a great location for exploring the west coast - we spent four nights at Seadrift, and it wasn't enough!

Tips:

Although you need to use the car to get to pubs and restaurants, Lisa is not short of recommendations of places to go (all good). And, if you want to bring food & wine back to the B&B, they will provide all plates, cutlery and glasses (and corkscrew!)to be able to eat in comfort.

A lovely warm welcome from Lisa and David upon arrival they showed us our bedroom for the night which was so clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was the best! homemade and fresh everything! :) We loved the chickens out in their coup they looked happy :) The view was gorgeous, near the water and mountains, i could sit outside all day deep in thought and enjoy the scenery!! Perfect in all areas! Loved every moment :)

Tips:

Me and my friend took a mini roadtrip up to Portree, a quaint little village, there's a nice wee soap shop near the bus stop. The old man of Storr is definitely worth hiking up to, and also the Kilt Rock waterfall! But definitely need almost a week or so to see and trek to the other must see places ;)

This is a wonderful house in a wonderful setting at the side of the loch. The facilities were first class and Dave (who was without wife Lisa, but had drafted in his Mum for assitance with breakfast)was very friendly, informative and answered all our questions on various topics. I can highly recommend this B & B. 10 out of 10 from me

Tips:

I didnt see it on the website but they also have a cottage to rent, if you wanted to stay longer in the area. Dave recommend the Clachan pub in Dornie, which we tried on our way back (we didnt have time at the start of the holiday) take his recommendation. You just have to wait for a table, but the food is excellent. Ditto his recommendation for the Spar near Balmacara, their selection of whiskey is huge, if you are looking for some.

We had an amazing stay at the Seadrift B&B. David and Lisa are incredibly nice and helpful (and a lot of fun). The location is amazing, with great views over the water. It's the most quiet B&B I have ever stayed in and the breakfast was super nice as well. I would recommend this to anyone.

Tips:

David and Lisa are full of tips and ideas, just ask them to have a look with you at the wall map and tell them what you like to do. Food wise, we really enjoyed: Skye Pies, the Red Skye and the pub in Dornie. We spent two days driving around Skye and were very lucky with the weather, so the walk to Neist point was really nice. Tips:

Ideal stopping point for visitors touring. Beautiful spot on the shore of Lochalsh, but would wish transport as Seadrift is a little 'off the beaten track'. 15th June 2015:

Originally we (a group of 4) were looking for accommodation on the Isle of Skye, and due to limited availability we chose to stay at the Seadrift for two nights, which is located approx. a mere 20 minute drive away from Skye. Quite frankly this turned out to be the best stroke of luck anyone could have wished for. The location was convenient for exploring Skye AND the mainland. Finding the property was straightforward and very well sign posted after you left the main road. Once you reach the house the view is simply breath taking. The owner of Seadrift (Lisa) was simply fantastic; freindly, very informative of the local area, and a dab hand in the kitchen; we'd return after a long day of playing the tourist and there'd be tea and homemade cake on offer. On a similar note the breakfast was fabulous; homemade jams, fresh fruits, quality yoghurts, one morning there were even homemade (warm) muffins and of course the full Scottish was indeed 'full' - not your usual run of the mill token gesture, of one sausage, one rasher of bacon, etc. The accommodation was clean, modern, light and roomy, with no noise detectable from the other quest rooms. We were particularly impressed with the water pressure in the shower; it's a small detail but after a long day of walking being able to have an invigorating shower is just what you need. The care and thought put into this B&B is simply marvelous - the over sized OS map on the dining room wall being a good example. The accommodation was by far the best we had during the entire vacation of touring Scotland - and to put that into perspective we started in Edinburgh with a 4star well known chain (name no names, but let's just say the daughter is notoriously famous :-)).

Tips:

We heeded the proprietor's recommendations on places to visit, where to eat etc and were not disappointed. A lot of the establishments where we ate looked outwardly uninspiring, but the food was always of a high standard. The one place we'd throw a word of caution to, was the distillery on Skye. If it's the only distillery you are able to visit whilst on vacation then fine; take the tour (which was pleasant), but then leave it at that. This was the first distillery we visited whilst in Scotland and in comparison to others we visited later this one was by far the proverbial 'tourist trap'. Whilst other distilleries offered free tours, generous tastings and reasonably priced whiskey in the gift shop, this one charges 8 GBP for the tour, the tastings were prohibition friendly and the prices being asked for the whiskey in the gift shop were considerably more that what you'd pay elsewhere.

Our host welcomed us with cake and a cup of tea and a tale of how she had just picked up some new chickens to lay eggs for guests' breakfast. The shower was roomy, powerful and hot and we sank into the bed for an excellent night's sleep. We had fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries for breakfast, with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and coffee ground on Skye.

Tips:

We went for the Skye half marathon and had a seafood lunch at the Creelers Inn at Broadford.

Wonderful location, our room had the sea lapping about 10metres from our window. Lisa is a fabulous host and nothing is too much trouble. Nice touches like fresh milk in room and delicious home made cakes.breakfasts also super.

Tips:

Local pub in Dornie does very good food and there is a lovely sea food shack in Kyle of Lochalsh..also need to visit the very photogenic Eilan Donan

If I could rate Lisa higher than a 5, I would. She is the best hostess we've ever had, and we travel alot and stay in B&Bs all over the world. The home is lovely and the view is outstanding. Lots of little extras in the service! I plan to stay there again on my next trip!

Tips:

This is the place to stay if you like solitude. Not much around in the way of restaurants or entertainment, but there are gardens nearby and this is close to the Island of Skye. Absolutely loved our time there and wish we'd booked more nights!

We were looking for the house in Kyle of Lochalsh, but we could not find it. A person in a hotel was so kind to explain us how to get the house. Everything was right. Everything was new and tidy and very clean. Breakfast was also good. The place, wonderful. Thanks, Lisa.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your place. Everything was up to our expectations. We got such a lot of very good information about the interesting and beautiful things to see on the Isle of Skye, and we followed your advice to the dot. Therefore we had a wonderful experience during the 2 days on that isle.

Best value stay we had on our trip to the highlands by far.Very enthusiastic and friendly host who couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely fresh ,beautifully cooked breakfast. Great experience to see the tide coming in and out less than 30 ft from your bedroom window!

Tips:

Plockton is a highland gem and now very trendy, great atmosphere and good food in all the pubs. A 40 mile radius of Seadrift contains all the highlights of a visit to the highlands.

We really enjoyed our stay at Seadrift. Location is beautiful and the B&B is very well equipped and very clean. The owners were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We shall definitely use there B&B again as the location was so good. Breakfast was also above the standard that most B&Bs provide.

Tips:

We ate in the evening at the Clachan inn pub in dornie which is about a few mins walk to the eilean Donan castle and only five mins drive from the B&B. The food was excellent.

A beautifully located B&B with exceptional accommodation. Lisa was very welcoming on our arrival and throughout our stay. Very knowledgable on the area we were visiting. Lisa made our stay enjoyable and we cannot fault anything. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Tips:

A must to visit is Eilean Donan Castle as it is truely spectacular. Kyle of Lochalsh is so close as is the bridge over to Skye, all a must to visit. Good place to eat is the Crachen in Dornie, excellent food and service.
