We had a wonderful stay at Loch Aluinn. The view is spectacular and the Scottish breakfast was the best we had during our week in Scotland. Our hosts offered helpful tips and provided detailed maps. The location is quiet, but close to excellent hiking and a short drive to Portree for good eateries and shopping.

Everything about Lock Aluinn was 100%. It was easy to find because of a pre-approach board. It is centrally located for easy access to the whole of Skye. Margery and Eric,the hosts, are lovely people. The rooms, breakfast, and hospitality were perfect.

Peaceful rural setting, warm and comfortable. Excellent breakfast.

Hotel restaurant just few minutes drive north had nice restaurant for dinner or Portree about 15 drive north has several restaurants and supermarket. Is possible to prepare simple meals at B&B and eat in lounge area too. Local museum further north is worth a visit- some roads very narrow but passing bays okay. Lots of lovely walks and great scenery.

One of the very best B & B we have ever stayed in. The hoist is brilliant norm and bread on Skye and bee there all her life. Beautiful condition bungalow very comfortable. Lovely breakfast of high quality

The Sligachan Hotel is a few minutes to go by car. Otter destination like Black cuillins, Red Cuillins, Glenbrittle are good to go by car. Portree is worth seeing it and having some meal there.

Loved the fact that we had a living room and bedroom instead of just a bedroom--this allowed for a nice place to relax after a day of hiking. Also loved the amenities of cookies, candy, tea, and a refridge in the living room. Very nice breakfast. Friendly host. Good view. Quiet location 15 minutes outside of Portree.

A very welcoming atmosphere, we loved the decoration in all the rooms and it felt so nice and cozy in your B&B. We would 100% come back and also recommend to others.

Fairy pools in the evening if the weather is nice, the Old Inn for dinner, old man of storr as early in the morning as possible to be there before the big travel groups.

This was already our second stay at Marjory. The welcoming and handling is very lovely. The rooms are very clean. The breakfast is first class. We will be happy to return to this B&B on our next Isle of Skye holiday.

The location is ideal if you are travelling by car. 15 minutes to Portree. Portree were very crowded on both our stays. Be sure to book restaurants weeks in advance in summer. The food at Sconser Lodge is also excellent.

Beautiful location in the Skye mountains, excellent facilities, everything very well taken care of, extremely clean, cozy and comfortable.

The four poster bedroom has an adjoining living room and you can bring takeaways. In the summer restaurants can get very busy if you don’t book ahead so it was an excellent resource to us.

This was a wonderful find. Beautiful location. Facilities were excellent- particularly bedding- perfect for after a day of hiking. Highly recommend for a stay.

We were travelling for two days on The isle of Skye- book your accomodation well in advance as it gets busy. You might also like to your restaurants as Portree was full of travelers and getting a table difficult without a reservation.

Marjory greeted and treated us like family from the moment we arrived until the time we left. Our three days on the Isle of Skye were very special and our stay at Loch Aluinn and with Marjory and Eric helped make this possible. Our room was immaculate and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and our early morning chats with Marjory about our plans for the day always resulted in some great tips about roads, restaurants, and more. The location and views are amazing which included a double rainbow one afternoon that appeared to start right on the shoreline out our window. We hope to come back some day!

Try to have reservations for dinner. We enjoyed dinner at the Sconser Lodge each night we went there. Very friendly, very relaxed, very comfortable, and great views, and delicious food and beverages.

A wonderful place to stay, with kind and generous hosts. Quality accommodation: very clean and well maintained.

It’s useful to have a car. The B&B is on a fairly busy and narrow road, although it is technically walkable on the loch side. However, it’s only about 3/4 mile northeast to a bus stop near the Sconser ferry, or 2.2 miles southwest to a bus stop in Sligachan.

Immaculately clean accommodation and very comfortable. Great attention to detail. Welcoming and very attentive host. Lots of information provided on local attractions, the sites to see, and maps for hikers. Really good breakfasts with the option to have dinner in the evening. The meals were beautifully cooked and presented. This was much appreciated, as there are no restaurants close by.

Loch Aluinn is in a good central location from where to drive either to the north or south of Skye.

A little bit of heaven and a perfect jumping off point for exploring Skye and the farther islands. I would recommend staying 3 nights or staying 2 then going up to the farther islands by ferry and then returning for another night. The house is charming and you feel like you are staying in a country lodge. Marjory will fix you a wonderful breakfast.

The Fairy pools are relatively close, but you will want to get an early start. Weather is variable so all weather gear and good shoes are a must. This whole area is enchanting and comforting to the spirit. You can sit on the porch and gaze at the Loch for hours.

A hidden gem. We received a lovely warm welcome from Marjorie on our arrival into their beautiful home. A fabulous view straight out onto the Loch in a very peaceful area. Our room was well equipped throughout our stay. At breakfast we were spoilt for choice with a great selection of food on offer. Marjorie & Eric's attention to detail was amazing, with lovely nature messages left on our table each morning. Our stay with them was perfect.

Marjorie & Eric will provide evening meals if required but you must book these in advance. We travelled to Portree which has more choice than Broadford for food. We visited Old Man of Storr, Lealt Falls, Kilt Rock, Fairy Glen, Dunvegan Castle and grounds, Fairy Pools & Armadale Castle and grounds.

Marjory and Eric were fantastic hosts, and we felt very well cared for (and fed!) during our week-long stay. Room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. There were stunning views of Loch Sligachan, and we enjoyed sitting with a takeaway on the terrace one evening as the sun set. Would definitely recommend to other travellers.

Sconser Lodge Hotel was just up the road, and a great place to go for dinner (though need to book in advance). Otherwise, being in the centre of the island made it a good base to explore all that Skye has to offer.

Breakfast was great, the best we had in Scotland. We had plenty of space, and everything was perfectly clean. We would love to come again.

There is plenty to do and to see on Skye. There are only a few restaurants close by. Seumas' Bar is nice, but often completely booked. If you don't want to go to Portree, we liked the Old Inn on the road to Talisker.

Very warm and friendly reception at this delightful accommodation.We had the four poster room with our own sitting room complte with microwave,fridge and hospitality tray.Several pamphlets and books available with local information.Breakfast was varied,plentiful and delicious and there was a an evening meal available to order. The whole experience was delightful.

Be sure to visit the golf course just by the ferry terminal. We particuarly enjoyed the south of the island (Sleat) the Garden of Skye.

Marjory & Eric were great hosts. The room was very comfortable and well furnished. Cooked breakfast was the best ever. Great location for visiting the whole of Skye, situated half way between Broadford and Portree.

If the weather is a bit iffy, head south. Still spectacular and a better chance of sunshine! When you do coastal circular tours in the north & west, please note that there are very few cafe's, bars, hotels shops etc. There appears to be plenty of restaurants in Broadford and Portree but we actually ended up at Munro's Bar at the Taigh Ailean Hotel in Portnalong and also The Old Inn in Carbost. Food & Drink was excellent. Staff also very friendly. Unfortunately the nearest bar/restaurant, Seumus' Bar at the Sligachan Hotel only takes bookings for 6 or more and we couldn't get a table from when we arrived at 7.

We had a very lovely stay at Loch Aluinn! We spent four nights at the location. Our hosts were so warm, kind, welcoming and sweet! Marjory was able to give us tips for the area each morning as we headed out. The rooms were spacious, clean, and quiet. The location is very central to the island, so everything isn’t too far a drive. We loved our time in Skye and would absolutely stay at Loch Aluinn again when we return! Breakfast was a highlight for us! Very fresh and delicious- and kept us full until dinner! You can tell that Marjory and her husband really care for their guests, focusing on every detail to make the stay wonderful.

The Sligachan Hotel Restaurant is only a 5 minute drive away and is a great spot to end the evening. They have a great beer and an excellent whisky selection. If you want to eat dinner anywhere on the island, make a reservation! Just call the restaurants to inquire/reserve. We saw on our last day that Loch Aluinn would also offer an early dinner option - I’m sure dinner would also be very delicious!! And I think it’s wonderful that they offer another service since during peak times, dinner can be hard to find on the island without reservations. We never made it to Raasay but the ferry there is very close to Loch Aluinn! You can also see adorable highland “coos” just 6 minutes up the road as well :)

Marjory was a phenomenal host, always friendly and forthcoming. There was a nice selection of breakfast to choose from. She even packed a breakfast to go when we had to leave early. There are simple but well-made dinner options available, but need to be pre-ordered in the morning.

There are nice hiking trails starting at Sconser. Beware that the area doesn't have a lot of restaurants, if you're traveling in the peak season, reserve a table early or order the dinner at Loch Aluinn.

Although this B&B is not located near restaurants, it is in a perfect location for hikes in the Caullin mountains or taking the ferry to Raasey island. As our trip was based on hiking, it was the perfect place for us. Breakfasts were exceptional and we took advantage of several evening meals served at the B&B. All were excellent; however, there is no match for the Shepard's Pie!!!

If you are planning to see Raasey Island, make sure you go over there Monday through Saturday. Everything was closed and there was limited ferry service on Sunday.

Thank you for being so welcoming and kind throughout our stay. The special touch of our anniversary gift and card was very much appreciated! The breakfasts were absolutely amazing and set us up brilliantly for our long days of walking. I’m still thinking about that grilled cheese sandwich! The room was impeccable with unrivaled views!!! The only tiny thing that could be improved is the shower as it wasn’t very powerful but it was a very small price to pay for the amazing experience we had. Thank you!

Where to start! The granary in portree had the most amazing fish and chips and the food served at tongadale hotel and restaurant was excellent and immense in portion size. The fairy pools are an absolute must and the walk up to storr to experience the views was well worth it! A visit to coral beach was also very enjoyable but overall just driving around Skye with the beautiful lochs and mountains is enough to make one want to relocate!

Location on Skye perfect can reach both ends of the island easily enough quiet overnight even on main road through to Portree. Views of Loch and mountains..every facility you would need...stayed here for 2 seperate 3 night breaks in between we went to Outer Hebrides. Hosts just perfect...foid freak we really chilled out

Be careful on the approach drive if have low slung car. Easy to get food and fuel from Coop in Broaford. We experienced a little difficulty in finding places to eat later in the day...seems to be staffing shortages across the island. Went to Skye Silver and spent too much money but liked their stuff

We had a wonderful stay using it as a base, the quality of accommodation it's position and the breakfast was by far the best we experienced in a 28-day journey. When we return to Skye ,4 perhaps better weather, we will definitely look to base ourselves there again.

Marjory & Eric made us very welcome. Exceptionally clean and comfortable stay. Generous breakfasts and fantastic eggs, supplied by their hens. Would have no hesitation in recommending.

Sconser is well placed for visiting many places of interest, including the Raasay ferry. For local restaurants The Hebridean Inn, Sconser Lodge and further afield for a celebratory lunch The Three Chimneys. Currently though many cafes seem to be shut early in the week.

Be prepared to drive for evening meal or plan somewhere on your way back. Incline to parking at accommodation is steep, just take it slow. Didn't take advantage of trip to Raasay, but ferry is too close not to. We might have to go back then!

We always stay at Loch Aluinn when we visit Skye. This was our third visit. The location is spectacular on the loch and with a view of the mountain, opposite. Majory and Eric look after us with great care and concern and the breakfasts are always the pick of our trip

If you wish to visit the island of Raasay from the ferry terminal, just opposite, please check sailing times, since we missed out due to some confusing notes against some of the sailings

The hosts at Loch Aluinn are superb, and really care about their guests. Thoughtful extras, while too numerous to list, were all appreciated. The cleanliness is impressive, as is the maintenance of all areas. Breakfasts are well thought out and offer extensive choices to set you up well for a day on the hills!

We ate in Carbost, Sligachan, Portree and also Sconser Lodge. Sconser Lodge is closest and is within a walkable distance - dinner there was my favourite! This is a good area in which to base a stay on Skye - Portree and beyond is easily accessible, as is the nearby ferry to Raasay.

Excellent accommodation during our stay in Skye, perfect to visit the the most common places in the island. Good attention to small details and great value for money. The bedroom has all amenities a guest can need and the views are stunning. The bed was very comfy and the cleanliness according to high standards. They offered a wide range of options to choose for breakfast with fresh local products and big portions. Definitely, we recommend this B&B and for sure, we will repeat experience with them. Everything about our stay was quality. Rm 1 had comfy furnishing, good quality bed-linen and a powerful shower in a spotlessly clean en-suite. The breakfast options were plentiful and the extra touches of fresh fruit and seeds complimented very good quality breakfast ingredients cooked to perfection. Marjorie was a lovely host and Covid measures were followed.

Limited eateries nearby so you need a car. Be careful entering the driveway as the incline off the main road is steep. Centrally located to explore all of the Isle of Skye.

We were impressed with how Marjory has thought of little extra touches to make one's stay so comfortable. Our room had comfortable chairs and our bed made for a great night's sleep. We had a lovely loch view from our room, and the lounge has binoculars for viewing the sea life. The property is located in an elevated position off the main road and in a good location for bearing off to any direction on the island. Some of the best breakfast we've had, due to the varied choices, and delicious preparation.

Lovely location, warm welcome, comfortable rooms including use of a lounge area, excellent breakfast and helpful hosts.

Sligachan Hotel with restaurant and bar food is about 5 minutes drive. Sconser Lodge Restaurant is also near but was shut when we tired to eat there so best to check. Cafe Sia is about 13 miles back towards the Skye bridge but is worth the drive.

This was our third stay at Loch Aluinn that alone says how much we enjoy it. Marjory makes us feel most welcome to her lovely home. Our room was spacious with a most comfortable bed. It was equipped with all you required, even a most useful small fridge. The en suite was spacious and well maintained. The view from our room of the mountain and the chickens kept us amused The facility to eat in was appreciated. Breakfast was of a really high standard and thoroughly enjoyed. All together a very pleasant place to stay and very easy to recommend to friends.

Loch Aluinn is well situated for both Broadford and Portree. We would recommend a trip to Raasay on the very smooth running ferry only five minutes along the road. Once on Raasay a trip on Calum's Road is a must but be prepared for passing places on the road. The Stein Inn has a great atmosphere and very good food. The Skyeskins shop in Waternish with its cafe in a yurt is worth a visit.
