18th November 2022:

Our stay at the cosy cabin was a lovely experience. We were greeted by some very sweet chickens in the driveway. When we entered the door to the cabin it was nice and warm and there were freshly baked muffins and bread sitting on the table for us. So delicious. There was also a breakfast package in the fridge which we appreciated a lot! The check-in was self service, which worked just fine. However we would have loved to meet our hosts. We hope to come back sometime in the future.

We enjoyed this stay. Thanks for the breakfast gift basket, it was delicious! We only noticed humidity on windows early morning even with heater turned on and in the bathroom the water of the shower was too hot or too cold (difficult to find the good temperature)

Tips:

We suggest to eat at Cafe Arriba in Portree and visit Old Man of Storr

Beautiful setting, very peaceful. Perfect for walkers who adventure during the day and want to return for a cup of tea and a bit of vegan cake (baked by the host!). We loved the vegan breakfast options and it was great to feel secure that the delicious breakfast was fully vegan - except for the delicious fresh eggs, also available on the breakfast menu. The room was very clean and well outfitted. Would stay here again!

Tips:

The hosts offered good advice about local walks and restaurants. We especially enjoyed the walk from the B and B to an island with historic ruins and burying ground.

20th April 2022:

We had a wonderful time at the Old Croft House with Sam and Mark! The room was so cosy with a fantastic view out to the fields, it was very clean and was tidied every day. The breakfast was AMAZING, I got so excited filling out the menu request the night before! Such delicious options and so much food! And I loved our little afternoon cake treats every day! I loved that we had our own entrance so we weren't bothering Sam and Mark. It's a great area of the island, 8 minutes drive from Portree, nice to be out in the country a bit but still close to get into town and have all the amenities.

Tips:

Definitely check out the vegan pizza at Caberfeidh Bar and Restaurant, it's insane and the lunch at Cafe Arriba was lovely with great views, both in Portree. Bog Myrtle Skye cafe was really nice in the South of the island, it is a second hand bookshop as well as a cafe, it's got great views and food. I loved Cafe Lephin, more to the west of the island, this is a lovely clean, hip cafe with a little shop in the back. I would pick up an Art of Skye guide this lists all the independent arts and crafts vendors on the island.

Fabulous hosts, breakfast was amazing, bed was so comfy and loved feeding the very friendly chickens and ducks in the mornings. The place was easy to find, impeccably clean and well appointed. The perfect cosy bolt hole after a day of exploring. Sam was so helpful and welcoming!

Tips:

Just a few minutes drive into the centre of Portree where there is a good selection of pubs/restaurants/shops, the Fairy Pools walk was lovely and the trek up the old man Storr spectacular!

Thanks so much for a lovely stay. We absolutely loved it. Such a great little Cabin. The bed is super comfortable, the homemade breakfast items were delicious. And Ozzy loved the doggy treats. Netflix included was a great touch too. You thought of everything.

Tips:

We had a gorgeous meal at the Portree Hotel. An Corran beach was lovely. Although, So much to see on Sky, we did Old Man of Storr, Brides veil falls, kilt rock, the fairy pools to name a few.

We had a lovely stay in the cosy cabin! Location is fantastic, beautiful views and less than 10 mins drive to Portree. Sam and Mark were great hosts, super helpful and the breakfast baskets were amazing. We also really appreciated the peanut butter biscuits left for our dog! Overall a brilliant stay (in spite of torrential rain!) and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. Will definitely book again when we come back to Skye!

Tips:

Recommend some early starts to beat the crowds at spots like the fairy pools/old man of storr/Quiraing and fairy glen. Would also recommend Scorrybreac restaurant in Portree for a special meal - needs booking in advance as is very small but they did a fantastic veggie/vegan tasting menu

Lovely location. Great breakfast and hone made produce. Very comfy and cosy inside the cabin too.

Tips:

Portree has something to offer for Vegans, resteraunts are accommodating. We did take packed lunches out with us so didn't eat out too much, but there are more options on Skye horizon vegan travellers than the other two islands that we stayed on.

Lovely, quiet location looking out on to fields yet close enough to Portree for essentials. Delicious, cooked breakfast every morning and home made cakes to welcome us back each afternoon. The Sun Room also has a small, private decked entrance where we enjoyed feeding their free range hens and sitting to watch the sun set. Sam and Mark were really friendly and helpful, recommending local walks and natural attractions to visit. We can’t recommend this fabulous vegetarian & vegan B & B highly enough…just trying to work out how soon we can return!

Tips:

We enjoyed visiting the Fairy Pools and would also highly recommend driving north to Duntulm to watch seals basking in the sea and Rubha Hunish to look out for whales. All required a bit of a hike but they were so worth it for the spectacular natural wonders on display. As recommended by Sam & Mark, we called in at Bog Myrtle for a bite to eat; their Skye organic vegetable, coriander & lentil soup was delicious, as was their vegan chocolate cake.

Copied from review already left on TripAdvisor: We loved our stay in the cosy cabin. Although cosy there is plenty of space with a good sized table to sit at and it was very clean. Location was great for exploring the island and is close to a big coop for food as well as some of the main sites, being within a half hours' drive of the quiraing and old man storr. I can't decide whether my favourite part was the lovely homemade food provided including breakfast, cakes and fresh-baked bread or the resident chickens who would regularly stop by on their rounds to see what food was on offer! Vegan heaven.

My husband and I, along with our dog, enjoyed a wonderful holiday in the Cosy Cabin, which lived up to its name. The location is great - close enough to drive into Portree quickly, but nice and quiet and surrounded by greenery. Such a friendly place to stay and very dog friendly. The cabin was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The food was absolutely amazing! We will def be back!

Tips:

We enjoyed a walk up The Storr with the dog, and a trip to the Fairy Pools. The parking facilities are very good for both. In Portree, we had a lovely coffee and cake from Arriba, which was at the top of the road down to the harbour.

Spotlessly clean accommodation that was comfortable, in a gorgeous, scenic location and still only a short drive from the main hub in Portree. Delicious breakfast provided as well as home made treats on arrival! Owners were friendly with a great knowledge of the island and gave good tips on where to visit to avoid crowds. Price was brilliant for everything that was included in our stay such as breakfast each morning, free WiFi and access to Netflix, etc.

Tips:

Portree is only a short drive away with plenty of places to eat and shop. There are some local walks to explore and the Old Croft House is in a great location to explore all of Skye easily!

Really enjoyed our stay. The homemade vegan breakfast and treats were a lovely touch and everything was well presented. The location was great for exploring the island. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming. The guide we received beforehand was really useful for things to do and places to eat. Would definitely recommend and hope we can visit again soon.

Tips:

Vegan burger at Edibane Inn was great, there's another vegan option that also looked lovely. Coral beach was absolutely lovely, white beach and turquoise waters. Wild swimmers should definitely have their suit with them and be ready to take a dip.

9th October 2020:

I stayed in the Cosy Cabin for three nights. It was warm and comfortable and although right next to the owners accommodation, was very private. When I arrived, there was freshly baked bread and cookies waiting for me. In the fridge there were also preserves, homemade vegan sausages, bacon, baked beans, pancakes, fruit coulis along with syrup, soya milk and vegan butter. Cooking facilities included a toaster, kettle, microwave and small hob. Waterproof OS maps were available that covered both the north and the south of Skye, which proved really useful. Unfortunately, it was raining most of the time I was there, so couldn't really sit outside, but there is a small terrace area and seating if the weather is nice. The owners are very eco-aware and provide a recycling bin and a composting bin as well as the usual waste bin. If you're into cycling, this is the perfect place to stay as the owners also run the Skye Bike Shack, which provides cycles to hire (although not currently due to the Covid situation),cycle repairs, servicing and parts. I met some cute geese, chickens and a lovely ginger cat during my stay here.

Tips:

There is a lot to see on Skye, and if you are an active person, plenty to do. During my three night stay, I visited Armadale Castle, Museum & Gardens, the Quiraing, Kilt Rock, Old Man of Storr, Fairy Pools, Cuillin Hills and Portree. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see as much of the island as I would have liked as it was raining a lot and most of the mountains were covered in mist. And yet, the photo opportunities were still there. Be careful on the roads. They are twisty and hilly and there are some that are single track with passing places. I did notice that a lot of presumably local drivers seemed to drive pretty fast, but I just pulled over when I could, to let them pass so that I could continue enjoying the drive at a safe pace. Don't park in the passing places, there are plenty of pull-ins for parking and admiring the magnificent views of mountains and lochs.

We had a lovely stay at the Cosy Cabin. It is in such a beautiful location just outside of Portree. The owners are really friendly but give you space and privacy. The cabin is tucked away so you really feel like you have your own space. The owner is kind enough to leave homemade veggie goodies, we loved the pancakes, syrup and bread especially! The cabin is warm and toasty, well equipped and the shower is fantastic, much better than the hotels we stayed in prior to our visit! We would definitely stay again.

Tips:

You are in a really central location being close to Portree, however a few miles out so you're in a really beautiful area. In our two days we explored the West Coast past Dunvegan including Waterstein lighthouse and Coral. Dunvegan has a Castle and Gardens you can visit on the way. It's well worth a visit to Staffin driving the coastal road past Uig, you can go past the Old Man of Storr (and climb if you feel inclined!). There's a big tesco in Portree if you need a big shop.

We had the most amazing stay in The Old Croft House (Cozy Cabin). Sam and Mark were very warm and welcoming and gave us good advise on places to eat and good places to walk the dog from the cabin. Sam’s food and baking was outstanding. The cabin had everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay, we loved the decor, fresh flowers, freshly baked bread and cake on arrival was a lovely treat. Great location everything was in good distance. Would highly recommend this to anybody that wants to adventure Skye.

Tips:

Lots of places to eat not so many if you have a pooch in tow. Sam and Mark told us a few places that were good to eat. Edinbain Inn food and service was fantastic. We managed to visit lots of places due to the location of this accommodation. Just be aware that places are very busy so remain flexible when planning your day and open to a wee walk to them to avoid over crowded car parks.
