4th September 2024:
We had a wonderful stay. Great location and very friendly and courteous hosts. Highly recommended. We will gladly come back!
Tips:Skye is fantastic! Especially the nature, it is worth discovering the island little by little. There are many local producers and artists. You should take your time to enjoy the island.

16th May 2024:
We spent a wonderful week in this surprisingly spacious, spotless clean and well appointed cabin and wholeheartedly recommend it to all fellow travellers looking for a peaceful getaway from the crowds of Skye. The views from the cabin are amazing, we spent hours just watching the clouds and the changing lights on and across the Loch, only interrupted by friendly chicken crossing the view from time to time. And Jessie, the tame lamb broke our hearts. Thank you so much Kathy and Allan for creating this place, it is our all time favorite and we cannot wait to be back (2026 is the plan!). Please cuddle Jessie from us and greetings to the all other lambs, sheep, chicks, corn crakes, lobsters and eagles!
Tips:Geary is a wonderful quite crofting community away from the crowds. The most famous sightseeing spots will require a bit of a drive and appear even more overrun after the peace and quite of the cabin. Check out Jann's honesty box when entering Geary for some lovely cakes.

2nd January 2024:
Fantastic, peaceful, cozy cabin with everything we needed. Little extras like Christmas lights, free-range eggs and homemade fudge from our hosts were very thoughtful! This was our first time visiting the north of the island and it did not disappoint. Dramatic landscape and beautiful sea view from the cabin to wake up to every morning.
Tips:Not to far from Portree for good restaurants but also try the Stein Inn in Waternish just down the hill from the cabin. Top-notch food served with style and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. If you go in the winter try visiting Old Man of Storr (much better in the off-season with hardly any people) and also walk to the cleared village of Suisnish via the coastal path which begins at Camas Malag beach - breathtaking!

1st July 2023:
This place is amazing. In a lovely quiet spot on the Isle of Skye. The cabin has been done to a high standard, Alan and Kathy cannot do enough for you. Stunning views and good location to explore the island.
Tips:Must visit Donnie’s Tablet at the end of the lane. We enjoyed a meal at the pub just down the road called. The Stein Inn. Lovely little location. Can also recommend Starduat boat trip in Portree.

19th October 2022:
A cosy, quaint, well-maintained cabin in a beautiful, serene location. Plenty of utensils and kitchen basics, as well as complimentary tablet, eggs from the croft’s chickens, and marmalade - all sourced locally! Amazing views, and the opportunity to see what life is like in a remote township on the Isle. Alan and Kathy were a friendly, welcoming couple, whose hospitality made our stay in Skye especially enjoyable.
Tips:A lot of big tourist attractions are only about an hour’s (give or take 15 mins) drive from the cabin, such as the Fairy Pools, Coral Beach, Fairy Glen, Storr, Portree etc. There’s also several local inns/restaurants/pubs within 45 mins drive, in Edinbane and Dunvegan. If you’re a fan of shellfish - or even just fish in general - be sure to visit the Oyster Shed near Talisker distillery. Even in Geary itself, surrounding the cabin, there’s several honesty boxes providing eggs, marmalades, jams and even tablet from Donnie’s Tablet Shed (which is a particular must-visit).

28th September 2021:
If like us, you prefer to stay off the beaten track and find pleasure in slow travel and unique places, you may love The Cabin as much as we did. Compact, warm and comfy, it had everything we needed including lovely hosts who were generous with their knowledge, time and experience. (Thank you, both). For us, it was more than a holiday: the crofting community of Geary and Alan and Kathy’s experience and willingness to share provided a window into life on Skye. Much of Skye is quite busy even out of the high season, but on Waternish we had time and space to absorb the atmosphere, spot the wildlife and take in the scene.
Tips:Dark sky point near the school and another at Trumpan church - if you are lucky enough to have clear skies to see more than we could!! Honesty boxes for some of Geary crofts (eggs, cakes, jams etc) but it is otherwise some way to shops. We liked the location but we’re glad we arrived in the light the first time.

5th October 2020:
Lovely cabin, secluded and private. Very warm and clean, lovely place to spend an evening whilst it rained. A little far off the beaten track, and the roads to it are single track, but not too far from the main sights (especially near the walks in the north east). Alan and Kathy were friendly, and stayed in the background.
Tips:We never got the chance for any local walks around the cabin, but they sound good in the sun. Also, book restaurants far in advance.

12th September 2020:
The Cabin is in a gorgeous location for a cosy getaway on Skye. The views are stunning and there are plenty of local walks to explore with great wildlife to watch on your doorstep. Kathy and Alan have thought of everything with this space and we couldn’t have asked for more, their tips and recommendations on local food and sights were great and we highly recommend anyone looking to stay on Skye to book this cabin!
Tips:Ask the hosts they had so many recommendations for us and in a guide in the cabin on arrival! Too many things to see and do on Skye to list them all!
