8th September 2021:

I am not sure where to start as the whole stay was exceptional. Tracey was in communication with me prior to the stay - she sent on some hints and tips around restaurants which was extremely useful. I asked to check in at 3pm as we had other plans that day, she was happy to oblige and met us at the door before showing us to our room. The room was spacious and incredibly well looked after; we had everything we needed including a fridge! The location is also perfect, its within walking distance to Carbost and is also near to various tourist attractions. Breakfast was also at a time that we wanted rather than during a specific time; the food was excellent and we could choose exactly what we did and didn't want. Both Tracey and Ted really went above and beyond what we expected and I would not hesitate to go back. Its just a shame we couldn't stay for longer.

Tips:

Fairy Pools, Talisker Distillery Tour, The Old Inn in Carbost, Munros Bar (Taigh Ailean Hotel)

Trien Lodge was excellent. The room was very spacious and comfortable and it’s a good location for exploring Skye. Nice views in all directions. Tracey and Ted were great hosts. Breakfasts were excellent too. Highly recommended!

Tips:

The Old Inn does good pub food and great local real ales but get there early to get a table. The hotel at Portnalong was excellent for food. A short drive but worth it. Really nice bar and great service.

This is the best B&B I have stayed in. A warm welcome is guaranteed from Tracey and Ted. My room was spacious with views to the Cuillin Ridge at one side and Loch Harport on the other. The king size bed is extremely comfortable with plenty of storage available in a room off and ensuite shower. I will certainly be returning.

Tips:

The Old Inn in Carbost is nearby for food and drinks. Glen Brittle with the Cuillin Ridge is also at hand. The Talisker distillery is well worth a visit.

3rd August 2021:

Stayed for four nights in July in deluxe king room. Easily the best all round b&b we've stayed in for location, room, breakfast and hosts. It was a memorable stay.

Tips:

Go to the Fairy Pools early to avoid crowds, take midge spray and swim in higher up pools for clear water. Talisker Bay easy 20minute walk from parking on side of road then follow through track field and beautiful beach for swimming at end. Taigh Ailean amazing food in a casual restaurant. Local foraging, fresh seafood plus varied menu. Booking ahead a must to get a table. By car, travel a few minutes north of Carbost and stop at small local artists studios including On the Croft (owner spins and dyes wool plus other beautiful crafts) and Cath Waters art gallery and studio of Scottish landscapes.

Tracey and Ted were fantastic hosts, made us very welcome, when we just arrived they made us a pot of coffee, their was also a fridge in the room with a pint of milk. Good sized room, which was spotless, Ted's breakfast was very good great choice, nothing was a bother, even when Tracey had an accident and ended up with crutches. We would definatey stay their again.

Tips:

The guest house in nearer the cullin mountains, which is great if that's all you want to do, 4 miles to Glen brittle and the fairy pools, there is a pub in carbost, good food, good base for exploring the island. Mary and Sarah Hughes.

“The hosts were very friendly and provide me with a lot of advices and recommendations. It was a warm welcome. The room and bathroom were very clean. The breakfast was also very good. I recommend the place to visit Skye. Tres belle île.”

Tips:

Everything is magic on this island. I recommend to stay a little bit longer to enjoy the landscape and the view. Tracey and his husband will give you all the tricks you need to transform a basic visit on a deep personal experience. Regarding the restaurant it is better to chose to eat real Scottish food at the Seuma’s and to enjoy the amazing choice of more than 400 different whisky.

Fantastic stay. Felt totally at home and welcome from the minute of our arrival. Friendliest and most helpful of hosts, large very comfortable room with little thoughtful extras which made all the difference. Great conversations, tips on walks and places to eat. Wonderful views of the Cuillins. Highly recommended.

Tips:

Great location for getting to all parts of Skye. Good walks almost on the doorstep, Tallisker distillery and restaurants just down the road. Not far from Portree if you need shops, plus a great short walk round the headland there, with lunch in the gardens of Cuillin Hills Hotel recommended.

28th May 2021:

Trien Lodge is situated in a very beautiful location. Tracey was very welcoming and made us hot drinks and home baking on arrival and our large room was wonderful with great views. Bed was very comfortable. We also had a separate little dressing room to hang up and store all your bags etc which was an added bonus Our room was spacious and tastefully decorated and nicely furnished. My only and I mean my only criticism is I wish there was a small fridge in the room to store drinks and a few snacks. Breakfast was so delicious with plenty of choices...cereal, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, amazing cooked breakfast and toast with lots of lovely jams. Great way to start the day. We had no concerns at all as far as feeling safe re covid plenty of hand gel if needed and the b&b is spotlessly clean. Tracey gave us lots of tips and advice about visiting the island too. Tracey, Ted (and Colt the beautiful family dog) made us feel so welcome and I would highly recommend this wonderful b&b. Will definitely be back.

Tips:

Trien Lodge is very close to the Talisker distillery and also the beautiful Fairy Pools. (Please note that there are lots of streams to cross using stepping stones. Not for people with any mobility problems!) Its £5 to park. The Old Inn nearby serves lovely food but can have a bit of a wait for a table. You can wait outside at the back of the inn which has seating and fantastic views. Theres limited places to eat and we didnt get to try the few local hotels as unable to book a table for our chosen times so in the busier months here I would advise definitely booking a table well in advance. Portree isnt too far away by car. Next to the b&b is a large modern cafe and shop open 10 till 4. We didnt use it but it was always busy enough. Most of the roads are single track with plenty of passing places but look out for the sheep and wee lambs!! Skye is a stunningly beautiful island and there can be a bit of a drive to get to visit all the points of interest but doesnt matter as the scenery is so beautiful. I would advise to visit most places early in the day.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights recently while traveling around Skye and thought it was great! We had a nice, large and comfortable room w views of the loch and the Cuillins. Everything was very clean, and we appreciated the attention to detail- they seemed to have thought of everything you could possibly want/need. Upon arrival we were offered coffee/tea and generous slices of lemon drizzle cake, which was lovely. The cooked breakfast every morning was delicious and kept us going until dinner time. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and we had some fun chats with them. Highly recommend!

Tips:

This is a great base for the Cuillins and Glenbrittle. We went walking both days, visiting the Fairy Pools and Coire Lagan while there. See the routes on walkhighlands.co.uk.

This is a top class B&B with luxurious rooms, en suite shower room and walk in cupboard, ideal for clothes storage and airing. The breakfast of fruit juice, cereal, toast, bacon, sausage, black pudding etc is excellent and kept me going all day. Great service from the hosts. The location is ideal to access Glen Brittle, Portree, Carbost and Broadford. This is the best B&B I've stayed in.

Tips:

The old inn in Carbost is a short distance away and ideal for meals and drinks. Talisker distillery is in Carbost and is worth a visit. Glen Brittle is nearby for access to the mountains and the sea. The town of Portree is a half hours drive away. Picturesque Talisker Bay is a short drive away also.

We had the most wonderful stay! It was the best accommodation of our entire trip because the hosts were incredibly friendly and everything was clean and spotless. Tracey and Ted welcome you in their home in such a wonderful way that you truly feel at home. The guest house is easy to reach and one has a stunning view. Also, the communication prior to, during and after our stay was extraordinary. In a way, we got more than we booked and paid for - including cuddles with the dog and we were always offered a cup of tea, glass of wine and even cake when we returned from our trips.

Tips:

19th July 2020:

Everything about Trien Lodge is excellent. From the warm and friendly greeting from Tracey and Ted, to the spacious bedroom, very comfortable bed and super shower, and first class breakfast, this B&B is definitely worth a visit. The location is superb, with spectacular views of the shoreline in front and Cuillins behind. It is also ideally situated to access all parts of Skye. We shall return!

Tips:

Although not open yet because of Covid19 restrictions, the Talisker distillery is withing walking distance. We would also recommend the walk at Glen Brittle which is nearby. Portree is only 30 minutes away and if csrrot cake, veggie burgers and coffee is your thing, Cafe Ariba is a must.
