23rd May 2018:

A lovely studio apartment which is attached to the owner's own property. There is a small patio area directly outside the studio for guest use with views across the countryside and bird feeders! The apartment was spotless and very comfortable. Don't be put off by the lack of cooking facilities. There is plenty there to use for cooking. The wifi is very useful as my phone signal was a bit on and off. The owners are absolutely lovely and gave me a very warm and friendly welcome. If you love peace, scenery and wildlife but want to be near to civilisation, then I would highly recommend this apartment.

Tips:

I would highly recommend a visit to Applecross and Torridon area. The scenery is breathtaking. I even saw a White Tailed Eagle whilst I was there. Have a wander across the Skye Bridge at dusk, I saw Otters there at this time. Go to Elgol for a stunning sunset.

9th May 2018:

Very friendly couple who are justly proud of the Bijou Hideaway. The only things that may improve the facilities would be the provision of a couple of air-tight storage containers (tins for biscuits or tupperware type containers for other food) and maybe different towels that don't moult!

Tips:

Superb walks from the door out onto the Ardnish peninsula (fantastic for wildlife spotting) and at low tide to Ashaig beach, both great view points. The walk into Broadford along the Waterloo Road is recommended for superb views over Broadford Bay. Also very handy for exploring Sleat and Strath.

Thank you for your review and excellent suggestions. I will certainly look into getting some air tight containers. Apologies for the molting towels. They are still new and take a few washes to de-fluff. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again.

Absolutely charming hosts. They went out of their way to help us. Suggestions about spots to eat, places to see and walks to take. We stayed in the self contained unit and were quite happily able to cook some meals. The Broadford CoOp has everything you need to make cooking enjoyable. We were even able to seat friends at our table for a dinner for 4. Angela and Derek helped us at every turn. Thanks so much you two As an aside. You will need a car to get around Skye and you will need at minimum 3 days to get an unhurried overview of Skye. The husbands had fun golfing at Sconser and the wives enjoyed walking to Broadford and exploring

You could not have found a more lovelier couple if you tried. They went out their way from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.

Tips:

You will be amazed at not only the views but the friendliness of the people on the Island. There is so much to do from 1 year olds to 101 year olds. There are plenty of eating places some you are better to book depending of the time of year.

We had a great holiday-the only lower scores were because my husband was hill walking, it was a bit isolated for me-but we should have looked at a map more closely!! The Bijou Hideaway is completely furnished with everything you would need for a lovely, quiet, peaceful getaway. Angela and Derek are very warm and welcoming and very communicative. They provided a house manual with instructions for the hideaway as well as tips for the area and local favorite restaurants. We vacationed in order to get married and spend the first days of our honeymoon - it could not have been a more perfect stay and we are overjoyed with our memories of the hideaway.

Tips:

Take a day trip to Elgol and take the Misty Isle Boat ride to Loch Coruisk - everything about the trip from the ride to Elgol to the scenery at Loch Coruisk is pure bliss. Cafe Sia is where we went for most of our meals as they are accommodating and have a lovely menu. We also took a day trip to Plockton, which was quaint.

The studio was very comfortable and we had a very nice view from our sliding doors. Lovely bathroom. Angela was a pleasant and unobtrusive host. We enjoyed our 3 night stay there and Skye. Location is not in the centre of Skye as is the capitol Portree but that was not a problem, so much scenery to enjoy wwhen driving. thankyou Angela for having us.

Tips:

We found take away food on Skye the most expensive we came accross in Scotland The tiny oldest bakery in Dunvegan s not to be missed. Yum. Do not miss the Quiraing, but in season, get there early as parking is limited.

We love staying with Angela and Derek in their Bijou Hideaway! Second time round and still just as lovely, and we will definitely be back again. The studio is spotless and the huge bed is very comfy and warm, with everything you need.

Tips:

Location is great for the south parts of the island plus Plockton, but even if you want to see Portree and higher, it's a pleasure to drive past the Cullians every day. The Fairy Pools are a must, Armadale Gardens with the archery is so much fun and we loved the Coral beach again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bijou Hideaway. We felt warmly welcomed, and the Dougans were very accommodating in allowing us to arrive late in the evening. The studio was impeccably clean and well appointed. The location is quiet and central enough to visit the island very easily by car.

Tips:

We enjoyed Red Skye restaurant as others had recommended. We did a great boat ride to the Loch of Coruisk and hike around the loch and up into the Cuillin. The Old Man of Storr and Quiraing is also not to be missed. The Talisker distillery and Fairy Pools are definitely worth seeing.

Lovely hosts, made us feel very welcome! Allowing the addition of ordering breakfast was a nice touch. Plenty of information on what to do and where to go. Given its a studio, it doesn't feel small. Very clean with all the mod cons you could think of. Only thing missing is maybe a net for the door so the midges can't get in. But all in all a perfect break away! Will 100% recommend to others.

Tips:

The red Skye restaurant is an absolute must! Amazing food and service, but best to book! Getting around by bike was a good option, but go careful on the main roads. A visit to the cafe in torrin was also beautiful as great views!
