Perfect house on a perfect spot in Skye. Nice owners, clean and fully equipped! We had a very nice stay at Gairloch View Holiday Cottages
Tips:Old man of Storr is amazing! And drive around the north side of the island, from the house to Uig. Beautiful landscape

What a lovely host! We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our accommodation was spotlessly clean and we had everything we could possibly need. A very enjoyable and relaxed stay.
Tips:Skye was very busy with tourists. Almost all accommodation was full so we were lucky. Book early to avoid disappointment. There are very few cafes and restaurants and they were mostly booked or you need to queue to get in. Recommend you know where a local shop is and have your own supplies.

16th September 2022:
The property was as shown in the listing. The listing did state it had a dryer which we assumed meant drying machine- were disappointed it was just a clothes rack. We were also disappointed that for the amount of money we paid to stay for 3 nights that we were expected to strip the beds and organise the linen prior to leaving- we feel this should be included in the service. The view was stunning and it was well located for a lot of the outdoor spots skye has to offer in the north. Thanks for having us.

Very friendly and helpful owners living nearby! The greatest benefit is the location not far from the top Skye highlights.
Tips:Do not forget to bring with any insect repellent. There are quite few of them outdoors :)

We couldn’t have asked for more!!! This tiny home was perfect for my family of four (two 9 year old kids). It sits directly atop of the cliffs of the loch and the view is amazing! We loved that it wasn’t in the middle of downtown Portree as it stays quite busy there. We plan to make the 12 hour trip back again soon. The owners are amazing and very hospitable. We highly recommend this stay for anyone considering. Be prepared for the night sky full of stars! They’re so close you can hug them!
Tips:Not too many food choices directly in the town of Staffin but they have a lovely grocery store with everything you could want or need. It closes early so don’t procrastinate. There are tons of highly visited landmarks in this area. It was the perfect lodging location for that!!!

Mairi and Donald are very kind and hospitable people. Helpful and creating a comfortable stay. Beautiful and ever changing lights and views from the Cottage. We’ve stayed for a week, which we can recommend to gear into Skye Time. On top of it the location is near many outdoor attractions. Make sure you go and see the small but impressive Staffin Museum.

Plenty of places to visit and trips to do, the wildlife boat trip from Portree was stunning. Definitely coming back as there is still so much to see and and would love to see it all again.

What a lovely spot! We were given lots of information and places of interest on the island, but regrettably our stay wasn't long enough to visit all. Would have liked to stay longer. Friendly and very welcoming, wonderful hosts.Cottage was very comfortable and loved the views.
Tips:Didn't use the local restaurants as we like to cook ourselves, enjoyed the walk along the sea wall and just enjoyed driving round the island , as every corner reveals a different view. I would recommend a sea cruise from Portree to see the coast and wildlife

Wonderful hospitality offered from Mairi and Donald under the difficult global conditions of COVID. We were well prepared and very kindly welcomed and individually supported. Fantastic views and so calm and peaceful. Highly recommended and will come again ! The location is ideal for the North and mid of Skye, and well manageable to explore the southern areas as well which we did - so have seen it all and love Skye. All descriptions are accurate and we fully enjoyed our week's stay with our fantastic hosts.
Tips:Don't forget to see Staffin Bay and the Dinosaur footprints - among all the other highlights Skye has to offer.

The Anmara Cottage was an amazing spot for our 3 night stay on Skye. My sister and I loved the location right at the base of the Quiraing and an easy drive to Portree. The central location on the Trotternish Peninsula meant that nearly all of the sites we came to see were nearby which made sightseeing easy. The owner, Mairi, was so nice and had breakfast items there for us and she gave us great tips for the area. The property is private and quiet and even had its own lamb, Rose, in the fenced area in front of the cottage. Gorgeous views and we even got to see Northern Lights thanks to Mairi texting us to take a look outside, even though she had left for Glasgow earlier in the day. Staying at the Anmara Cottage helped make Skye the highlight of our trip to Scotland!
Tips:The Quiraing walk was amazingly beautiful and had some of the most stunning scenery we saw on our 8 day trip of the Scottish Highlands. If you start off in the morning with the Quiraing walk then continue on the across the small road to Uig, you can stop at the Fairy Glen then continue north then east around the Trotternish Peninsula, against the normal traffic of tourists. Or start up at the Quiraing and continue southwest from the Fairy Glen to Dunvegan and Neist Point Lighthouse.

Super location close to the several 'must visit spots in the north of Skye. Excellent views. Excellent facilities and amenities including the starter breakfast package. Most importantly very helpful and supportive hosts. We are very satisfied with our stay at Anmara cottage. Cannot praise more.
Tips:1. If you are driving in, please pick your groceries either from Co-Op Broadford or Portree. 2. Sunset at northermost tip of Skye - Duntulum is just 15 mins away. 3. Cafe Arriba at Portree for good food, no reservations required but may need to queue up specially during peak hours, open from 8 Am to 5 pm.

The only thing I would highlight is the fact that the cottages are named Kenmore and Anmara, but from the road you have to remember "Gairloch view" because it's the only sign and that can create some confusion (at least, it did for us). Most enjoyable stay in a perfect location. Cottage is beautifully maintained and the hosts were very nice and genuinely friendly.
Tips:The cottage can be tricky to find although this may help. Drive through STAFFIN to DIGG. Just pass GRACELANDS (yes there is a reference to Elvis) the GAIRLOCH VIEW (Anmara Cottage) is on your RHS down off the road. Digg is actually at the northern end of Staffin.

Owner Response:Thanks David for your lovely review, I am so glad you had a lovely stay in our cottage Anmara. Regarding directions our Cottages are very easy to find, they are off the main road on the right, well signposted, as per the directions in the e-mail guests receive prior to arrival, following the sign for 'Graceland' will only cause confusion as it is not in Digg and the sign is not always there as it is put up and taken down at various times in the year

Terrific well appointed semi detached cottage with friendly knowledgeable hosts who made us very welcome. Great views over Staffin Bay / Island.
Tips:Great location for the North of Skye. Just below the Quiraing and a short distance to the road that takes you up to the Quiraing parking. There is a short walk to a parking area and a path down to Loch Sheanta (The Healing Loch) below Loch Leum. Flora McDonalds Cottage is another short walk further on at the Flodigarry Hotel. If clear skies watch the sun go down over the hebrides at Duntulm Castle. Staffin has a great long beach which is partly sandy great for beach combing on a sunny day! There is a narrow road down to the beach and around the headland to a small harbour. Staffin has a village shop with fuel pumps and a small take away menu and a bit further down the road is a well stocked Mace supermarket with laundry facilities.Food was really good at Colomba 1400 and it had great views to the Quiraing and Old Man of Storr range.

The cottage was great, it was very self sufficient, we never felt like we were missing anything. It was also very helpful that there were basic supplies at the cottage, that way we didn't have to get groceries and/or supplies right after the long drive. We also good some really helpful tips, which really helped us fill in our days on the island.
Tips:When it comes to food, the Columba 1400 is a great place to eat for a very fair price. If you like seafood the Oyster Shed is a must-visit and last but certainly not least is the lovely Skye Pie Café. One of our top recommendations is the Quiraing walk, the view from the top is simply stunning and the entire Quiraing range is just perfect for hiking. Fairy Glen is also a unique and beautiful place not far from the cottage, just on the other side of the Trotternish Peninsula.

There is also lots of wee beaches and dinosaur prints around nearby, you have lots of walks etc and few wee museums and shops. It’s also good base to travel to the south and to the west. Definitely recommend. You can’t beat the view Staffin has to offer.

Fantastic wee cottage. Was spotless and had everything you could have needed. Our hosts were lovely. You would need a car to get here and to get around.
Tips:I would recommend a visit to the fairy glen. That was our favourite trip, parking near Uig hotel and walking to it. Our host recommended the Flodigarry hotel bar/restaurant which we loved. Also the oyster shed, near Talisker.

It was great. The house was fine and neat and had a nice view. The first breakfast items were very thoughtfull. We're hoping to come back someday. I will certainly recommend you to my friends and booking.com.
Tips:Do the querringwalk if you are fit enough. Be prepared. It's a longer and steeper walk then you would expect at first so take good walking shoes, raingear, water and food. Try to do this early in the morning to avoid traffic chaos at the spot. The boattrip out of Uig with sea explorer was great. To eat: colombo 1400, nearby, goof food, neat price. The pie cafe, also nearby. Open until 4 in the afternoon but you can also get the pies as take away.

Nice location, good parking, lots of interesting sites near the location (example: Quiraing)
Tips:The roads of Scotland are having problems coping with all the traffic from tourists. Be prepared to share the single track roads with oncoming mobile homes... The views that you get are simply perfect and except for the tourist locations, the experience of tranquility is the most important reason to visit Scotland.

Our hostess Mairi was super friendly and informative, the rooms are in a detached self catering cottage just off the road. The cottage felt new and was well maintained and stocked with the essentials for us to cook breakfast or any meal if we had wanted; (for lunches and dinners you do have to buy your own food, the cottage has utensils and condiments). Kenmore is about 18 miles from Portree, 5 miles beyond Staffin in a little community called Digg. The location is great as a base for treks in the Quirang which you can see from your back window. The turn off to the drive up to the Quirang is just 1-2 miles from the cottage. From the cottage you can also walk down to the beach. A great location, near and well stocked cottage and a super welcoming hostess Mairi. Highly recommended. We'd come back again if we were to visit Skye.

We loved the four days we spent at Kenmore which is a totally self contained cottage with everything you would want, in the middle of the wilds of northern Skye. Surrounded by crofters and with sea views it was a pleasure to come back to after exploring, what we think is the most beautiful part of Skye. Mairi MacDonald, the owner, is very helpful and knowledgeable and sent us off to lovely parts, and best of all she sent us to The Oyster Shed with its fabulous fresh seafood. We will return.
Tips:Stay longer if you can and go slowly enjoying this very beautiful part of Scotland

The accomodation is clean and tidy with lovely views across the sea towards Gairloch. The owner is very helpful and kindly left us essentials like bread milk etc
Tips:There is plenty to see on Skye if you enjoy big landscapes and wildlife. We took a pleasant walk around the coast and watched the Sea Eagles hunting their prey. The rugged area known as the Quiraing is close by and I would recommend taking the road to Uig. We only had a full day to visit so we will be back to explore this amazing Isle again.

I highly recommend staying at Gairlock View cottages (I was in the Kenmore cottage) if only for the great care of the host to ensure a comfortable stay. The place is in a beautiful area (as is everything on the isle of skye!) the cottage is clean and well equipped. The thoughtful host was quick to help when we got lost on our way there and made great recommendations to help us get the most out of our stay. Thank you!!
Tips:I suggest taking Real Scottish Journey's Skyebus tour. It is all day, a bit expensive, but worth the time and money! Bill, the guide, makes it a fun and engaging event - he's an entertaining storyteller, regaling his guests with history, legends and fairytales of the island as he shows the main sites, and there is a great balance of time both on the bus and time off the bus to truly explore. My #1 recommendation.

Mairi could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Her directions were easy to follow to get to the cottage, and when we arrived it was wonderfully warm! Mairi was a welcoming and helpful host and the cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The location is one of the most dramatic landscapes in the world. We would defy anybody to find fault with a holiday here.
Tips:Walks to the Quiraing, the Storr Rock, Duntulm Castle, the Kilt Rock and The Lookout start a short distance from this cottage. The Flodigarry Hotel nearby - due to reopen in March after refurbishment - is an amazing building set in a stunning location .Flodigarry Art Studio is very interesting and Aros in Portree now opens for food all year round until 7.30 in the evening. Even in winter, there is plenty for anyone to enjoy here.

For places to eat out there's the Flodigarry Hotel, Sea Breezes restaurant or Merchant Bar in Portree. Taliker distillery and Dunvegan Castle are worth a visit, as is Garth Duncan's jewellery workshop on the road to Elgol. If there weather's nice a walk along the Quiraing, up to the Old Man of Storr or a trip to Staffin Slipway to see the dinosaur footprints are good activities.

Fab cottage, very cosy & lots of great local recommendations by the B&B owner Mairi. We did struggle to find the property & even once we arrived we weren't sure which door we should be knocking on. Some more signage would be helpful eg please knock on door at bottom of road for keys or something similar. Other than this we had a lovely time & enjoyed having our own little place on the Isle of Skye. Thank you Mairi for the lovely honeymoon gift too!

It really was a perfect place to stay. If I'm forced to suggest an improvement it would be for a better cooker and better pans, but that's really as far as I would go. The location is amazing, the place is clean and warm, and Mairi is such a friendly and helpful host.
Tips:There are lots of things to do up here - my advice would be to refrain from driving too much as the roads are much slower than you might expect.
