My friend and I had a wonderful time at Foxwood on Skye. David and Katrina are the perfect hosts - friendly, informative but never intrusive. The room was large, comfortable (and very quiet) with a gorgeous view of the sea. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. This B&B definitely feels like a home away from home. Highly recommend!
Tips:We had a great meal at the Old School restaurant, a 15 min drive away in Dunvegan. Proper Scottish food in a cosy setting.

Katrina and David are superb hostess/host. They were so helpful with answering ALL our many questions with grace and patience. The breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade scones- sooo yummy, made fresh!! The location a wee bit hard to locate initially but after we found the B & B, to a problem at all.
Tips:We had the best dinner at Edinbane Inn located across from a local pottery studio- a must visit if you like pottery. The museum of island life and Dunvegan Castle are also a must see. The scenery is breath taking.

Wonderful place to stay during our trip to Isle of Skye. The location was great and the accommodation was one of a kind. The information and hospitality were greatly appreciated.
Tips:Make sure you get reservations for every night of your stay as it gets hard to get a table for any walk ins. Also, note closing times of places. Most restaurants and gas stations are closed by 8pm.

Foxwood is located in a beautiful quiet setting on the West coast of Skye. The accommodation is top quality with large comfortable bedrooms (which contain a fridge and microwave - very useful if cafes and restaurants are full). The bedrooms are separated by a most attractive, airy and spacious guest dining and living room with comfy sofas, eye-catching artwork, plants and information about the island. Katrina and David are friendly hosts who could not have been more helpful. We throughly recommend Foxwood on Skye.

Thank you Katrina and David for wonderful days in Isle of Skye. We liked very much staying with you. All worked fine and you are really taking care of your guests in an excellent way!
Tips:In addition to the usual hikes in the Isle of Skye, the tidal island of Oronsay was an experience. Easy to walk, not crowed at all, and doesn't take full day. What comes to restaurants we can highly recommend Old School in Dunvegan and the Café Cùil in Satran on your way to Talisker distillery or to Fairy Pools.

David and Katrina are incredibly gracious and helpful. Their home is so lovely and beautifully maintained. They’ve thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and go out of their way to help you make the most of your time in Skye. We wish we could stay for a month.
Tips:Hike on the Trotternish Peninsula. Katrina and David have terrific guides. We did the Quairaing - really amazing. Dunvegan Castle and grounds were simple and lovely to visit. Had the best fish and chips of all time at The Misty. Pay attention to the detailed directions provided by your hosts. There’s only so much your satnav can do. As we drove around Skye, we learned to vigilantly monitor the roads for potholes. We highly recommend bringing food along as we weren’t always able to predict where we would be in time to get reservations at restaurants. If you’re from the U.S. and relying on Verizon’s international plan, don’t. It’s virtually useless in the UK.

We wanted to see hairy coos and I'm sure Katrina and David arranged for them to be on the side of the road as we left their property one morning. :) Wished we could have stayed longer and hope to visit again.

Staying at Foxwood on Skye was one of our favourite places during our 5 week holiday. The rooms are nicely set up, comfortable seating area for guests, great breakfast with a view of a very active bird feeder just outside the window and David and Katrina are excellent hosts. We rented the ensuite log cabin for 4 days and found it very comfortable and warm. It was good to have the flexibility of eating out or having microwaved meals and a small fridge to keep a small bottle of milk for breakfast and fresh items for lunch. Parking was very convenient- right outside the front door of the cabin . The hosts, David and Katrina, were friendly, helpful and readily available in the adjacent detached house to address any questions.

Tips:Make reservations for nearby Dunvegan, host suggested to us but we forgot and they were right!! This is a bit off the beaten path though also within a half hour of anything you want to do. You need to be that kind of traveler but honestly, I so much prefer this. So unique and beautiful we had a fire and drank some local scotch by the fire, a gorgeous sunset views over the mountains. David and Katrina are a wonderful couple to stay with. They made us welcome and feel at home. We got to feed the mare with horse treats, and watch the wild bunnies and domesticated sheep. The farm is gorgeous, and it resides very close to the sea, so you see rugged scenery when you wake up. The rooms are large, warm, excellent beds. The food delicious and plenty, and again, David and Katrina were there to help and advise, and are very customer oriented. Foxwood was the best place we stayed in, in our 8day Scotland tour.
Tips:Skye needs to be taken slowly, don't plan to visit too many places, because the drive between them takes a long time. It is more about being than about doing. The roads to Foxwood are very broken down, so drive carefully. Don't expect to see otters in the otter hideout.

Great to share your enthusiasm for wildlife and curiosity about most everything :) Our room and the shared 'feasting hall' were both lovely places to relax and we really enjoyed the art. Breakfast was great and we weren't kept waiting for a second, which was both welcome and impressive! Given the popularity, distance, and closing days of the local eateries, it was really good (if not essential) to be able to cook our own supper. But it felt a bid rude to leave dirty plates on the table for you to wash up. Also, we weren't sure about leaving used food packaging in the bedroom waste bin. Good to make it clear what arrangement is best/OK for you. The bottle of tap water was helpful - would have been nice to have this refilled each day. Ditto, the pack of biccies! (but understand you may have been wanting not to encroach on our privacy.) Overall a really lovely stay.
Tips:If you're walking to Oronsay, keep left! It's not clear that the path runs along the leftmost steep edge of the hill as you approach the island - but knowing that will save you a boot full of boggy water! The local Broch was fascinating and gave good views. The fairy pools are busy but benefit from a really good, clear, stone chip path. Expect to pay a fiver or more for the 'main attraction' car parks. Some minor roads (like to Glenbrittle) are actually in better condition than some main roads - don't be put off!

Katrina and David were exceptionally kind hosts and amazing cooks. In particular, the scones and the mushrooms are a must.

We experienced amazing hospitality from David and Katrina. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were superb, with the best scrambled egg I have ever tasted! They helped us decide on the best places to visit and where to eat. Their very spacious living area is a wonderful place to relax.
Tips:We can recommend The Old School restaurant in Dunvegan and also the takeaway fish and chips served from a van in Struan at the weekends. The Old Inn at Carbost is also good for food and has a very nice atmosphere. We would also recommend the boat trip you can take from Elgol to visit Loch Coruisk. If you are lucky, like we were, you will have dolphins swimming alongside the boat!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Foxwood. David and Katrina are the most wonderful hosts, and cook the tastiest breakfasts! (We recommend the pancakes). The B&B is very rural, so you definitely need a car and should be comfortable driving single track roads. Nearest shop/restaurant is a 15-20 minute drive to Dunvegan. We were out exploring every day, and found Foxwood the perfect place to come back and relax after a busy day!

Location was perfect for getting off the grid and having a base for exploring Skye. The hut itself was lovely, a really unique experience, with all facilities to have a night in or to make a breakfast before you go off for the day. Very well priced compared to many places we saw and the hosts were so welcoming - comprehensive recommendations were sent prior to arrival to help us plan.
Tips:The old school house did great takeaway food for dinner. Hike up Quiraing was definitely worth a mention for a slightly longer afternoon, but if you want a shorter walk The Fairy pools are worth a trip.

Everything as perfect for me and my Partner, Anna. We had a great time at Foxwood and have already recommended it to friends and family who plan on visiting Skye. The location is a so stunning with views of The Cuillin visible throughout the day. It’s perfect for a chilled get away which was exactly what we are after and we will be back to visit again!
Tips:The Crofters Bite in nearby Struan is an absolute must if you’re travelling when is opened, this was a great suggestion by our hosts and we ate there on the Saturday on our time away and it hit the spot! Portree isn’t to far away and they have more pubs and restaurants if that’s what you’re after, we never made it to the restaurant in Dunvegan but we will next time we are back!

The room: Our 2-bedroom suite with a large bathroom was just perfect for parents and a teen, and made it easy for us to deal with muddy hiking gear each day. The hosts: At some bed and breakfasts, you feel like family the moment you step in the door - this was one. The Foxwood hosts helped with our luggage, checked to see if we needed an itinerary, helped us watch the weather, loaned us drying racks for damp clothes, made hiking suggestions, cooked delicious food, and even bought me almond milk.
Tips:Hiking the Old Man of Storr trail was a highlight, but try not to do it in steady rain - seriously slippery! The Old Schoolhouse restaurant had great food and let us eat promptly at 6 so we could head out to Neist Point for the sunset. Relish deli in Portree has good sandwiches for pickup - so you'll have lunch wherever you are, on the trail or on the road.

Really cosy Cabin in a beautiful landscape. Ullinish is perfect for discover Skye. Katrina and David were really great. Perfect holydays. Thanks a lot.
Tips:Go to Skye by Ferry from Glenelg, where you can see seals and dolphins. Visit Kyleakin with Castle Moil. Then pass Sligachan Valley. Really beautiful with great mountains and a strong river with a nice bridge. Tallisker bay with waterfall by sunset, nothing can top it (Website of Skye WALKS). Go to the little Island in Ullinish but take care about the tide. Visit Fairy Pools in the evening and take a bath there, it will be great, and then walk along the mountains on the left side back to the carpark. Visit Dunvegan Castle with boat trip to the seals and then go to Coral beach, Fairy Glen and Bridge. Really great is a walk from Quiaraing car park along the mountains and back to the carpark over the mountains. Best is to use hikingsandals. It is wet on the top. Rubha Hunish is a nice walk and have a look to Duntulm Castle, return by northern top of Skye, perhaps the museum is open. For this tour you can use the carpark at the red telefone cell. Go to Kilt Rock Fall and Old Man of Storr, but go forward the viewpoints. Make a round trip over the mountains it gives you a fantastic view from above. Visit the museum and the castle of Armadale. Nearby at the Torabhaig Destillery is a Castle Ruin. The way to get there is really an adventure. Sorry, but we had only 5 days on Skye and we'll surely come back dir discover the Cullins. Unfortunatly they were every day in clouds. But next time, I'm sure, it will be nice weather there.

It was very pleasant and I would recommend it as a good place, good atmosphere, pleasant staff, not expensive; and excellent food!

We had a nice time at the Foxwood B&B and would highly recommend it. Katrina and David are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, provided lots of information and great breakfasts. I loved walking the roads in the area right around the B&B the two mornings I was there - great birding! I saw 51 species one morning. I wish I'd thought to ask David where to see a Ring Ouzel - I'm sure he would know!
Tips:Most of the restaurants were filled up early in the evening - wise to make reservations if at all possible - which Katrina and David advised.

Very welcoming hosts providing very tasty breakfast made to own requirements and willing to offer a wealth of information on attractions to visit. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and especially having the Jacuzzi bath after a 7 hour drive. The views from the room were amazing and the beds were the most comfortable I have experienced in a B&B. Katrina and David were there to welcome us with a cup of tea and recommendations for eateries in the surrounding area and each morning they checked what our plans were so they could advise us accordingly. They have an array of guides and reference books. Breakfast choices were excellent and delicious On our last night David had the sauna ready for us which was an added luxury. Of the five B & Bs we made in Scotland, this one was the best! Home very warm, good advice on visits to the Isle of Skye and restaurants, superb accommodation, large bed 2x90 cm and bedding in excellent condition, very clean rooms, bathroom with sauma and bubble bath plus separate shower. Traditional and extraordinary Scottish breakfast! Huge choice and homemade! Delicious scones! The view from our bed and the living room is superb. The place is autentic. Depaysement assured. A plus: our 10 year old daughter loved to deal with the owner of her horse. A second plus: our daughter had her own room, beautiful room too. We will come back on here. More than recommend. A big thank you to the owner for this unforgettable stay.

Katrina made us most welcome, I rang her for directions and as we arrived she had hot drinks ready for us. The accommodation is very nice we shared the family suite which consists of a luxuriously large room and a single with a shared bathroom. The bathroom was very spacious with whirlpool bath at one end and a hydro shower at the other. It even had its own sauna built in. Breakfast was excellent with a full menu on offer. We cannot say enough about Foxwood on Skye. Our stay was the best bed and breakfast experience my wife and I have ever had, by a long shot. Dave and Katrina were magnificent hosts. Their kindness and hospitality were endless, and they were tremendous guides to the Isle of Skye. They prepared outstanding breakfasts, had a fire going in the evening, and were happy to chat about anything. The facilities have everything you could possibly want, and the scenery is spectacular. We also loved the secluded location.
Tips:You can't go wrong with anything on Skye. The Old Inn was a great little pub, and we enjoyed hiking through the Cuillins and exploring the Quiraing. The incredible sights are so numerous that we wished we had scheduled more time on the island!

The global feeling is excellent. The only negative point is the distance to the villages or towns. By night especially and if it rains, it's really a difficulty also due to the specificities of the small roads.
Tips:Restaurants : Old school at Dunvegan : 4 Culling hills at Portree : 5 (but so far away) Things to see : we have particularly appreciated the Nord west of the isle. The landscapes are very wild et typic. But, globally, the isle is fantastic and we are surprise by the low level of tourist. In consequence, it was very quiet.

We found Foxwood to be a superb B&B. Katrina and David were excellent hosts providing very personal, warm and welcoming accommodation. Breakfast was excellent, and it was very difficult to resist ticking every item on our daily menu. The location of Foxwood suited us fine as we planned our schedule of walks based on us being centred at Ullinish.
Tips:Finding somewhere casual to eat dinner after a long day of walking (still dressed in wet & muddy walking gear) proved challenging. All restaurants were very busy and all, even pubs and cafes, required booking in advance to avoid very lengthy waits in over crowded doorways. The Co-op in Portee (30 minutes drive from Foxwood) was very popular! Another challenge on the Isle of Sky is the lack of public toilets – a well known problem apparently.

They even have soya milk for lactose intolerant. The room hot tub is a welcome after long day of walks. The beds are comfortable. The bed in the main room was huge and King size. The other room with a single bed has ample space too. There are nice views from window and outside garden. Plenty of space for parking. Lots of games at the living room for use. Out of our three week stay in Scotland and England, our favorite lodging was at Foxwood. Katrina and Dave provided all the amenities in our lovely, light-filled room. Our room included a small anteroom for making tea and coffee. The warm family/dining room has a large fireplace, lots of windows, and vaulted ceiling with wooden beams. Breakfast included homemade, hot scones each morning, along with a full Scottish breakfast next to a large window overlooking pastures and the Cuillin Mountains. Our hosts thought of everything, including providing binoculars at the table for viewing wildlife and plenty of maps and guides for our exploration of Skye. The location includes an easy walk through a rural neighborhood to a small, private coastal cove and ancient archaeological sites.

Couldn't ask for a better BNB. Great B&B, comfy beds, clean, big bathroom, very accommodating. We booked the two rooms set up and had one entire section of the house to ourselves. Breakfast was awesome and the hosts were very helpful, the view from the breakfast table was great. The only drawback is that there are only locks on one of the bedroom doors (twin room) and you can only lock it from inside. That solved my uncomfortable feelings for the overnights but I still had to take my valuables (computer, etc.) and put them in the car truck during the day as I didn't feel comfortable leaving them out unlocked. It seemed safe enough but I ALWAYS lock my doors and I just can't leave my valuables out unlocked and trust that the other guests are honest and don't have sticky fingers.
Tips:Use the taxi service (Angus is the best!!!) and go to Dunvegan for dinner (Old School is great) and drinks at the pub. One of our best nights in Scotland!!

Owner Response:We are glad you enjoyed so many aspects of your stay. Thank you for the feedback about the doors. We had a fantastic time staying and felt very welcome. David and Katrina were great hosts and the breakfast was delicious. Just what you need to fuel up before climbing some hills. The house is beautiful and the views are stunning. Would definitely recommend staying here and we can't wait to go back again!

A very comfortable and welcoming place. The area is quiet and peaceful. Superb for getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living. Dave and Katrina made us feel very welcome and it was like a home from home. We enjoyed a comfortable and relaxing stay, excellent breakfasts, and would have no hesitation in recommending Foxwood as a great place to stay.

New owners of B&B are excellent: flexible and warm hosts. great breakfast. sauna and jacuzzi were well prepared by them: we enjoyed these after a long day. they answered to all our requests in a warm and constructive way. the two nights were great. we wish them a succesful future and recommend this place to all. one remark: nearest restaurant and pub for dinner are far away
Tips:Old school restaurant in Dunvegan and pubin Carbost are good alternatives for dinner

Very helpful with anything we asked for, even willing to print fly tickets!! The room was very spacious, and warm. I appreciated the small heater as it got cold in the morning. Breakfast was delicious.
Tips:We enjoy David's recommendation of the pub where there was live music.

Foxwood on Skye is one of the best B&Bs we've ever stayed at in many years of traveling. All the essentials of were there: clean room, wonderful hot shower, warm cosy living room to curl up when it's pouring. The location is also perfectly central on the Isle of Skye, with easy access to both the North and South, and especially convenient access to the Talisker distillery ;). But especially memorable were Dave and Katrina's kindness and hospitality. The breakfast is unique. During our 5 days there they cooked hands down the best B&B breakfasts we've ever had: tasty, hearty, varied, and as traditional as you want. Highly recommended. We hope to come back soon!
Tips:Be sure to visit the Iron Age round house ruin Dun Beag, which has an amazing view and is less than 5min from Foxwood. The nearest pub is The Old Inn (attached to a hotel of the same name) about 20min away by car: good lunch, dinner and drinks, and often traditional Scottish music in the evenings. It's right across the street from the Talisker distillery, also well worth the 45min tour (which includes two tastings).
