Moorside Rooms exceeded our expectations, we had two rooms, a family room which was much bigger than we expected and a double room. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and warm. The breakfast provided was generous. We were late checking in and it was no drama, Sam was very helpful.

Nice room and complimentary breakfast. The host was very kind and approachable. The walls are a bit thin so can get noisy. Overall a positive experience.

Take earplugs for sleeping. Make sure you let the host know about your dietary preferences upfront for the complimentary breakfast.

Very prompt and excellent communication around stay. Cleanliness was excellent Breakfast was good with extras thrown in. Tv reception was poor not worth while watching. Didn’t impact us as we were out due to great weather, but if the weather wasn’t great can see some may be disappointed .

Well located, only a few minutes drive to Portree. Very kind host! Everything was well prepared for our stay and we got all information we needed upfront. The breakfast on the 1st day was perfect and we loved all the other goodies (cake, fruits) we got during our stay. Minor weak points: high humidity in the room. Carpet in the bathroom is not preferred (for hygienic reasons).

Sam is an excellent host. The room was spacious, the bathroom large as well. The beds were very comfortable. She provided a light breakfast the first day and left delicious carrot cake for us the second day. In highly recommend the location.

It gets very busy at the restaurants in the town square. I suggest going early or be prepared to wait.

Brilliant place to stay if you are driving, it's less than 4 miles from Portree on the main road, the host Sam is excellent, left us little treats of various Scottish biscuits on a daily basis, great for our cups/ tea coffee every night, you also get a continental breakfast left in your room for arrival which we found was more than adequate, the facilities are excellent ie shower etc, big fluffy towels, beds are really comfortable, I will definitely be hoping there is availability when I return with my cousin from Australia next year as I know she would definitely be happy here

Definitely better with a vehicle in Skye, I drove over the skye bridge but took the ferry from Armadale to Mallaig back over to the mainland, saved driving all the way back round again, nothing is too far away if you are driving, stunning scenery everywhere, fairy Glen's amazing, loved the museaum of island life near Uig, Dunvegan Castle definitely worth a visit, loads restaurant,s etc everywhere in Skye, Portee has loads shops craft places souvenir shops etc, Skye definitely worth going for at least a few days

We had a lovely stay. After a long day of travel it was like coming to an oasis. Sam our hostess made us feel so welcome. Upon our arrival we found a clean cheerful room with a well appreciated tea & biscuits. The peace & serenity of the setting was a balm to our traveling fatigue & we were refreshed & ready for new adventures in the Isle. I highly recommend these accommodations. It’s also a wonderful bargain to boot. It’s close enough to town yet far enough away to escape the hustle & bustle of model life.

Finding a restaurant for dining can become a challenge. If possible book in advance & also consider take away as a viable option. I highly recommend “Get your guide” for an exceptional experience with a great value for the money. Our driver was so pleasant & informed of local sights. This tour offers all the highlights of the area with plenty of opportunities for food & breaks. The van was clean & comfortable.

Le B & B est proche de Portree, 10 min en voiture.La chambre et la salle de bains sont justes correctes . L'hôtesse est très peu présente , l'accueil inexistant. Les serviettes de toilette sont données très humides. Le petit déjeuner est posé devant la chambre dans une box, alors que les restrictions Covid ont été levées et à vous de vous faire votre café soluble ou thé avec le plateau de courtoisie dans votre chambre. Le tout pour un prix élèvé par rapport a ce qui est proposé, c'est là que nous avons payé le plus cher et que nous avons été le moins satisfaits durant tout notre séjour en EEcosse.

l'ile de Skye est magnifique . Les restaurants à Portree doivent être réservés et si vous voulez manger allez-y tôt car tout ferme vers 8 h pour les autres rares lieux de consommation .

Moorside rooms is 5 minutes by car from Portree where there are many restaurants and cafés.

This was a perfect place to stay for our whole family. Very clean, had all the amenities we needed and then some and our host was very friendly and accommodating. We had to leave very early on the day we departed and she was kind enough to pack us to go meals for breakfast. It was very generous.

The location was perfect for the sightseeing we wanted to do. Close to old man Storr, the fairy glen, Portree and Mealt falls and kilt rock. They were all on my list to see. Such beautiful countryside between each stop, definitely would love to return.

Handy for Portree restaurants etc. Main tip, book your meals in advance, all the restaurants in Portree get very busy.

The location on Skye was very central with friendly and welcoming facilities such as biscuits and treats The rooms and bedding was very comfortable and the breakfast packs excellent quality and were different both mornings, Sam was very nice when we had to clean our muddy clothes and boots with a face washer!!!

See Fairy pools and glen as well as Old Man of Storr Nice pubs in town to cap off the walking during the days!

Welcoming and very comfortable accommodation. Super comfortable beds and delicious continental breakfast provided. Id definitely recommend moorside great location as well. Would definitely come back.

We got a taxi down to portree as we planned to have a meal and a few drinks. We stupidly didn't pre book our meals and i think you had to book a few days in advance and everywhere was fully booked. We joined the que at the chippy which was lovely but beware it closes at 9.portree has many lovely pubs and bars a. Moorside is a great place for a base and easy access to all the island and only 20 mins from Uig ferry

Sam had excellent service and we heard her checking in on other guests if they were unable to open the door. Few was very nice and tables to eat outside were provided. Rooms are spotless and covid precautions are in place. Very impressive. You can ask for vegan or vegetarian options before or after check in for breakfast. Breakfast was lovely put together and served every morning on time delivered in a bag in front of your room. Car Parking was spacious. Haggis the Cat was well behaved and kept with the family but we asked to see him and he greeted us gently. We were really impressed with the stay in Moorside and would come again.

Definitely use the google maps link Sam provides otherwhise the navigation will send you up Borve. By car the Fairy Glen, Fairy Pools, old man storr and the kilt rock aren't far away. If you want you can drive to Dunvegan Castle shortly too, parking is free there and it has a beautiful garden.

A fantastic BnB. Sam was a lovely host and this was the best accommodation on our two week tour of the Highlands and Islands.The breakfast boxes were delicious and assembled with care. The kids loved theirs too and enjoyed them in bed.

There is a pizza restaurant and bar in Portree and it was so good we ate there twice.

The best thing I liked about Moorside is it is very systematic and very clean. Sam(host) has thought about all the essentials one might require during their stay. In terms of location, this give you good connectivity to north, central loop of Isle of Sky. Overall we had a pleasant stay in Moorside.

Location was excellent, ideal for going to any of the tourist points. Sam was very nice, caring and friendly. The property is spotless clean and have private car park at the front. There is no kitchen or facilities like microwave or iron/ironing board are not there.

Kilt Rock and Storr were very nice for visiting and they are just 30 mins away from the property.

Excellent location, close to Portree, short drive to Uig if you're on the way for a ferry. You can easily access most of island attractions in less then 40 minutes by car.

Beyond expectation, everywhere scented beautifully of lavender. Beautiful view, impeccable white sheets, together with individual toiletries. Host is really really nice and helpful. Small things like USB chargers, electric toothbrush charger available. Nice warm and tasty breakfast ready served for us to take with us. It made our holiday more pleasant.

Pre-Book restaurants as we did not find a good restaurants in the city centre as Portree is a small village.

Room was spotless and very comfy bed. The breakfast box contained lots of food with juice and fruit. We took our first breakfast box out to eat at the Fairy Pools which was amazing. Sam is a lovely friendly host and can recommend things and if you are a cat person you can have a chat and spend some time with the also friendly Haggis 😺. Oh lots of tea/coffee and biscuits in room too and handy charger cubes for your gadgets.

The Galley has tasty food but book as limited seating during Covid but you can take away. The Fairy Pools are lovely but be warned it is busy but there is a new car park (£5) and lovely clean/new loos there. Get there first thing. I would say not suitable for very small children as there are currently stepping stones to be negotiated and at 5’2’’ they were just manageable for me. Apparently the leaflet says they are going to build bridges but they are not there yet. The Old Man of Storr is worth going to. There is a bigger car park past the small spot by the side of the road but we went later in the afternoon as the rush was passing. The sign says ‘moderate’ walk but be prepared it is very steep in places even on the left hand path which others described as ‘less steep’. Once you think you have got to the top you haven’t and there is another climb but the plateau is great for good photos and a rest if you don’t want to go further. We decided to go the quicker steeper way down but many people were slipping as it was very steep in places so take care going down. We had a beautiful sunset the first night so drove past Uig to Duntulm Castle just for a wander and got beautiful views of the sun going down. The castle is ruinous and you are asked not to go over the fence as it is dangerous so we didn’t but interesting to look at and if you go down the fence line you get some good photos looking up. Read the history before you go. The path to the castle goes through a field but the sheep are friendly and don’t mind you wandering about. Only stayed 2 nights this time but we will be back to Moorside to explore more in the future.
