Thanks to Marie and her family, we had a great time on the Isle of Skye! We were from Japan and didn’t speak and understand english very well, but they were so kind that they spoked to us slowly and clearly so that we could understand them. The location is perfect, the room was clean and cosy, and the breakfast was delicious! They told us we should visit Quiraing, and the scenery was absolutely amazing. If we’ll be visiting the Isle of Skye again, we’ll definitely be staying at Gairloch View B & B!

8th September 2019:
After our extensive travels around the world, Gairloch View B&B makes it into one of our top five stays ever! The hosts, Mairi and Donald, and their family were absolutely warm and delightful. The location is stunning, overlooking the water on one side and surrounded by rolling green hills on the other. We loved that the B&B is situated away from the more heavily touristed Portree area, and we were very close to sights such as the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, Quiraing, and the tasty Columba 1400 restaurant. Plenty of options were offered for a hearty breakfast before setting out for a day of hiking, boating, etc. My husband, son and I stayed in one of the quad rooms, which had plenty of space, and it was very clean and cozy with an en suite bathroom. The beds were comfortable, and the heating system was very adaptable, handy for the cooler evenings on the Isle of Skye. The real highlight of this B&B, though, is the MacDonald family. We cannot say enough good things about Mairi, Donald and their family in making all of us feel so welcome as if we were old friends. If you're looking for a chance to experience the much lauded Scottish warmth in one of the most beautiful spots in the world, then make sure to book this place!
Tips:- Watching the sunrise over the water in front of the property - Hiking Quiraing - Old Man of Storr - Kilt Rock - Lealt Falls - Brother's Point - Columba 1400 - Ellishadder Gallery (weaving gallery) - Skye Cruise at Uig port - Glenelg ferry - Fairy Glen - Meandering drives to find hidden gems

Enjoy it !

All good and made to feel very welcome and Mairi was very helpful. Comfortable large lounge and lovely bedroom.
Tips:We liked Colomba400 for meals, also the Florigary hotel which is expensive but well worth it for a special treat. The Telford tea room very nice if a little expensive, lovely lady. Enjoyed the museums and watching the sea at Staffin beach when it was raining! Invergary castle also worth a visit.

Our stay at Gairloch View was relaxing and comfortable. Mairi was very hospitable and went the extra mile in making us feel well taken care of. She even did an early breakfast for us to help us facilitate our plan for exploring the island. The breakfasts were very well prepared, and HUGE! :) Gairloch is not a luxurious accommodation, but it is a down to earth, generous, warm, and lovely place with top notch hosts! We fully recommend this B&B.
Tips:Don't miss the Quiraing, and try to get to Eliean Donan castle in Kyle if you have time. Our Talisker Distillery tour was really fun as well. Got a rainy afternoon? Do some shopping in Portree. There's even a couple good thrift shops there. Try to get into Sea Breezes for a meal.

Mairi was a warm and generous hostess who made sure that we felt at home in Skye! Her passion and knowledge of Skye really shone through, and she was able to give us excellent recommendations for numerous walks. We stayed at the four bedded room, which included use of quite a spacious lounge. She was able to provide a hearty and delicious full breakfast. We would wholeheartedly recommend this b&b for couples, friends, or families with young children.
Tips:Chance to see the Northern lights in the winter! The nearby Skye Pie Cafe is a must-try (eat in, or order it hot/cold for takeaway).

Absolutely wonderful. It was like coming home to a best friend every day. We couldn't have been made more welcome. So kind and generous with local information and history. Printed papers with wonderful directions of how to find the different locations. When they found out I was celebrating a special '0' birthday they gave me a beautiful card and present to remind me of my stay in Skye. I was nearly in tears when I had to say goodbye. Thank you so much for everything. You made my trip so special.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND, wonderful stay. Location is perfect to experience the amazing and varied landscapes on the Isle of Skye. We booked a quad room with an en suite for 4 adults and it was perfect size, comfortable and clean. They are 2 weeks away from finishing a 3 bed house so would highly recommend larger groups consider it. Great accommodations for larger groups are tough to find. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the island which helped us get the most from our 2 day stay. Her breakfast was the best we had in Scotland and she was the best host we had during out 2 weeks.
Tips:Larger groups should watch for their new property. Beware that local grocer closes at 6 pm and cafes by 8 pm. Property is close enough to Portee for food and drink but probably not good idea to drive from there after a dram.

Tips:The Staffin Museum is well worth seeing if you are interested in fossils at all. The fantastic fossils on display have all been found by the proprietor and are magnificent.
