We stayed at the Strathallan B&B - Purple room for 2 days.Angela was a very kind and polite host and gave us tips and recommendations for our Skye trip. The room was very clean and with the mentioned amenities. The bathroom was very spacious and had a shower and tub as well.We loved the breakfast Angela served , she also a collection of DVDs or books if you need any during your stay. The B&B is very close to Kyleakin.Make sure you follow Angela's directions to the B&B, she helped us with the directions since the google maps aren't that updated with a road closure.I would definitely stay here again on my next trip.
Tips:One tip is for directions, make sure you follow the route Angela suggests, Google maps firects you to a close road. The room is half a mile far from the main road itself. There are a couple of restaurants up north from the B&B on the way to Portree or Bradford which is the nearest town.Broadford is 3 miles away and they've a big Co op supermarket as well, and a takeaway nearby(Siaway fish and chips).Angela also had left us restaurant and takeaway recommendations nearby.

Staying at Strathallan was a highlight of our vacation in Scotland. We are very appreciative of our time with Angela and Derek, having breakfast and talking with them about many topics. They gave valuable advice about Skye and related many stories of their experiences here. The room was outstanding, comfortable and sunny. We would definitely return.
Tips:Skye has many things to see- good hikes, the sea all around. We enjoyed driving around to the top of the island. Old Man was too crowded for us but the rest of the island was great, not busy in September. Good restaurants nearby, for example Deli Gasta and Cafe Sia for lunches.

3rd August 2023:
Angela and Derek were the loveliest of host (together with dog Bella). We had an amazing time and we felt very relaxed: they thought of every detail! The room was clean, lovely big bed, a great shower and bath. Even the details, e.g. whisky glasses, fresh biscuits and the tidying of the bed were superb. Loved the fact that we could 'choose and order' our breakfast: nothing goes to waste and we could choose what we liked. We didn't have haggis or black pudding before, but they tasted great. Together with some great local tips, for food, the weather, etc. and lovely conversations during breakfast made the time fly by. We almost checked out too late, because we kept on talking ;-)
Tips:We can definitely advise a Wildlife Tour, we took one from Andy (Skye Wildlife Tour). You go on a full day with Andy throughout the Isle of Skye. We saw otters, seals, sea eagles, golden eagles, deer and many other animals. And you get to see a lot of lovely places!

I would defiantly recommend this b&b to anyone visiting Isle of Skye.

Angela and Derek are lovely couple, make you feel very welcome and had a good understanding of a gluten free diet, the room was comfortable, and good tea tea tray with fresh milk, and a little fridge to keep it in as well as your own cans etc, if you wanted to. They are very happy to make recommendations, one being Amy's, a lovely tea shop on the way to Ergol, beautiful home made goodies, including Gluten Free, and a very pleasant couple Angela and Derek of Strathallan are local and had a good knowledge of the area, as well as things to see and do, how things have changed over the years, and we totally enjoyed our chats at breakfast. Would definitely book again if looking for B&B in the area.
Tips:Don't rely on your sat nav for finding Strathallan, takes you to one of the neighbours houses, we received an email a couple of days before we arrived with instructions, on how to find it and took us to the gate way. Would definitely recommend Amy's as above, and if you like highland Cows and like to see them just walking about freely definitely recommend Plockton, and apart from the lovely highlands, the fish and chip shop in Plockton sell Gluten Free fish, and very nice it was.

Derek and Angela were excellent hosts and made me feel very welcome from our first telephone interaction to the minute I walked through their door. The 'purple room' was really comfortable with a large ensuite bathroom/shower room, tea, coffee and the obligatory scottish shortbread also supplied. I was away from the house early in rhe morning so opted for the continental breakfast of fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereal and tea and toast all of which was very nice and very personal. I thoughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to come back or recommend it to others. Thanks Derek and Angela for your very warm and welcoming hospitality.
Tips:Due to time constraints and my schedule I didn't really have time to try any of the local restaurants however, I can recommend the fish and chip shop in Broadford.

Angela and Derek were very gracious hosts! Their accommodations were cozy and comfortable, the English breakfast fantastic, and the conversation each morning excellent. Angela is quite talented in the arts of jewelry making, knitting and crocheting and Derek is a wealth of knowledge on Skye and the surrounding area. The area is quiet and peaceful, just what we were looking for.
Tips:All sites are well-marked. Don't be afraid to drive on the single-track roads. Other drivers are patient and there is always a "passing place" nearby. Taking the "road less traveled" takes on a whole new meaning on the Isle of Skye! Also, if you want a nice sit-down meal at a restaurant, make sure you have secured a reservation, even months in advance. We are less-formal diners on holiday, so it didn't affect us.

This B&B was perfect for our overnight stop, before driving north for the ferry to Harris. Everything was immaculately clean and we had an excellent breakfast . Which was pre ordered the night before from an exstensive menu. The hosts were very friendly and helpful , recommending where to eat . We are staying here again on our way back from Harris on our way home.
Tips:The Claymore restaurant in Broadford. We had to wait 10 mins for a table. You canāt book and make a reservation. Food was excellent as was service. Would really recommend the Claymore.

31st March 2018:
As this was our second visit to Skye, we had no need to stay near Portree. The Strathallan's location was just right--quiet and peaceful yet near the necessary amenities in Broadford, Angela and Derrick are lovely, gracious, informative hosts. Their home is immaculate and devoid of clutter. The room is bright and comfortable. The bathroom is 5 star hotel quality--the heated bathroom floor was much appreciated on the cold March days. Food was excellent and we got a special treat--their Labrador Retriever, Bobbie. We have two Labs so, visiting with Bobbie made it feel just like home.

Had a wonderful stay with Angela and Derek. You are treated as family rather than a paying guest. Their b&b is first class immacutaley clean, comfortable and welcoming. The Purple room is excellent well decorated and furnished. The king size bed is extremely comfortable which made for a good nights sleep the bedding is clean and fresh. Tv with a good selection of channels and reliable wifi is provided along with tea and coffee making facilities with yummy shortbread. The ensuite has a powerful warm shower with toiletries supplied nice soft towels. There is also a bath. Breakfast is excellent you have a choice from continental to a cooked the food and portions are great. Angela and Derek are great hosts they are friendly and easygoing and make you very welcome. 23rd September 2014:
Excelent bedroom. Extremely nice hosts (made us feel at home.... thank you very much!). delicious Scottish breakfast.
Tips:1) Restaurants - Creelers (a little expensive, but very good food and very comfortable), Claymore (less expensive and good food) 2) In Broadford, there's a fuel station (there aren't many around) and a very good supermarket where you can buy a picnic for the day (there are few like these in the Highlands) 3) Things to see and do: Art Gallery of the local artist Duncan Currie at the old pier of Broadford, as well as a visit to the shop The Handspinning Having Fun (at the same locatio as the gallery) I strongly suggest a visit to Elgol (less than 20 miles from Broadford). A sparsely populated region with scenic landscapes all the way until you reach (at the very end of the road) the Loch Scavaig where you can see one of the most beautiful views of Scotland.

3rd August 2013:
We were warmly received and treated graciously throughout out stay at Strathallan. Our hosts were engaging and helpful in recommending places to eat, local artisans, time estimates to get to sites, and pain relief from cleg bites incurred on an earlier tour. Our room and bath were beautiful and comfortable with full amenities, and the views of the Cullins from the house are spectacular. We asked to borrow a space on the clothes line, and our host offered to wash a load of clothes and hung them herself. The breakfast is to order in the home's kitchen allowing us a friendly chat with our host.
Tips:-Follow Strathallan's directions to the house. We used out GPS and were directed to a field in the area. -Red Skye Restaurant on the main road above the house is not to be missed. The food is excellent, the chef comes out to check on your meal, and the atmosphere is lovely. Reservations recommended. -A pharmacy and grocery are also nearby. -Skyeline Ceramics is the studio/showroom of a porcelain ceramic artisan. Her whimsical Highland coos and sheep are delightful, and she works in the showroom space, so you can see how she builds the imaginative creatures. -Castle Eilean Donan is just over the Skye Bridge in Dornie. Go at high tide for the most picturesque photos. -Armadale Castle is also nearby on the way to the ferry between Armadale and Mallaig. The castle itself is not terribly interesting, but the grounds are beautifully kept with walking trails and the Museum of the Isles is not to be missed with excellent historical development of the castle grounds, Clan Donald, and Skye. -Also, don't miss Strathallan's own artisan jewelry made by your host. Her tumbled/polished Skye marble pendants are affordable and lovely pieces of the Isle to have as a keepsake.
