John and Iris were wonderful hosts! Our big room was perfect: big confortable bed, a tiny little corner with two armchairs to read a book and rest looking to the wonderful view. A room big as our is perfect to put all your stuff and luggages and to relax well. The breakfast was super: pancakes and porridge home made, jam and cheese, eggs and all that you need well prepared and nicely served by John. And in the end the bathroom: plenty of cozy shower gel, shampoo and body cream, with all the facilities you need.

Iris and John are fantastic hosts it feels like staying at your ( or your friends) grandparent's house. their house is lovely and they are warm and welcoming. the first night we were quite late and they were accomodating A hearty breakfast was served with a smile they are wonderful conversationists but still respect your privacy and leave you in peace to finish your breakfast if you so desire as well.. a special word - they have a wonderful old dog Benji who is a sweetheart and loves to be pet on his head. I cannot recommend this place more highly.
Tips:this is a bit far from portree and other sights and ideal if you have a car at your disposal. the views from the rooms are stunning. probably the best sunset views. very quite and peaceful there is an Indian Restaurant ( Taste of India) fairly close by ( driving) which remains open untill 11 - everything else shuts quite early.

We loved the view from our room. Bedroom was a good size. We liked the little extra touches such as bathrobes as our bathroom was next door. Also the sewing kit and shoe cleaning kit . Bathroom was a good size and spotless. Good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner. Owners were very helpful. Great breakfast with lots of choices. We will definitely book again.
Tips:Would recommend the Claymore restaurant. Excellent sea food and great staff. They don't take bookings so get there early. We visited the fairy pools and Porttree . Also travelled up the NW coat to Gairloch. Lovely beach. Very scenic drive. Also went to Eileen Donna Castle.

We couldn't have wished for a better welcome to Skye. Comfortable room, a welcome cup of tea in a china cup and cake. Really filling fresh fruit salad and freshly prepared cooked breakfast. Thank you so much John and Iris. Thank for a lovely start to our Isle of Skye holiday. And we had some really good weather and glorious sunsets too.
Tips:We recommend The Claymore. Excellent food, bit more pricey than The Hibernian but so much better. Real Skye able is recommended too. Some Skye roads are slow due to being narrow, so allow time and plan well. We needed to have stayed on the island longer to see everything we wanted too, next visit we will.

This was our first stop on our holiday and I cannot imagine it will be bettered. Iris and John were excellent hosts, welcoming us into their home - and their kitchen! A lovely couple. Our breakfasts set us up for the day with a cereals, fruit, yogurts as well as a substantial cooked breakfast. The house itself was spotlessly clean with lovely big rooms. Our view over a beautifully kept garden to the sea will take some beating. Just perfect.
Tips:We drove to Elgol and took a boat trip to the Small Isles with Bella Jane. We were out for over four hours. Well worth doing.

Dear Iris and John, our stay in your house will be unforgettable. We felt like we were coming home and we have not experienced it before. Starting from your hospitality and cordiality through the cozy atmosphere to the wonderful room and bathroom, which was huge. Our time on Skye was unfortunately limited and we will certainly visit the island, because there is so much to see. But if we think of Skye, then first of our charming hosts. Thank you very much for everything and all the best :)

Very friendly welcome and throughout our stay, made us just feel at home. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and provided more than we expected. Not to mention the excellent breakfast in the morning! Plenty of choice and lots to give you a good morning fill! A very enjoyable stay.
Tips:We travelled up to the north and enjoyed time Portree, then Uig and Dunvegan. We went to The Old Schoolhouse for a meal in Dunvegan which was delicious and brilliant service! The following day we explored out to Armadale which was also worth it, as we saw the ferry coming in and there was a few shops of local produce. Skye is certainly a very beautiful place, which is very well kept (credit to all who live there) and definitely worth a visit!

We had a lovely warm welcome from John and Iris into their very comfortable home. It has a very homely feel, and we immediately felt really comfortable in the huge lounge and dining room available for guests to use. It was great to be welcomed with tea and cake when we arrived, and to sit with other guests at a large table which resulted in great conversation with strangers over breakfast. Beautifully maintained gardens and fabulous views over the loch. The house is spotlessly clean and beds very comfortable. We would heartily recommend this as a place to stay and would definitely return if in the area.
Tips:On John's advice we ate at Plockton Shores which was really good for seafood and the venison steaks were gorgeous. We had a drink at Plockton Inn where they also served food which looked very good. Be sure to visit the RSPB hide at Kylerhea where we saw seals, an otter and a white tailed eagle!

If only I could I would keep Fernlea, John and Iris a secret so I could have them all to myself. The location is set with stunning views over the water. It was emaculate inside and we received the warmest of welcomes. John and Iris are the perfect hosts, very friendly and always on hand to advise you on Skye and it's beautiful locations as well as places to eat. We can't wait to return to Skye and Fernlea. Thank you so much John and Iris
Tips:The Red Skye restaurant is within walking distance from Fernlea and is great if you want something that is locally sourced and well presented (fancy). If you want some pub grub including magnificent local sea food then the Claymore is a 5min drive from Fernlea. For whiskey enthusiasts the Talisker distillery is great, take the tour if you go, it's very interesting. Dunvegan castle and coral beach is in the same area. It's a lovely 2 mile easy walk and the white beach, crystal clear water and if your lucky ,seals in the water is a lovely reward. Wherever you go in Skye, the drive, walk , cycle etc will always be accompanied by the most beautiful scenery and when you get to where your going, the warmest and friendliest of people.

Fernlea b&b is worth every penny! The room was beautiful and spacious, as was the bathroom. All was immmaculately clean and with lovely decor. We were in the room called 'Pabay' and the view from our window was absolutely splendid. Iris and John were excellent hosts, providing professional service with a lovely warm manner. Iris welcomed us with tea and biscuits in the lounge room upon arrival and introduced us to their gorgeous golden retriever Benji! In the morning John served us a delicious hot breakfast, cooked to order and including fresh fruit salad and the best porridge I've ever eaten. Fernlea's location is especially good for those arriving to the Isle after a long drive as its soon reached just after crossing the bridge, however it would also be a suitable base for exploring the whole island. We so enjoyed our visit and only wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Iris and John for your wonderful hospitality.

Iris and John have been the best hosts ever. I have never received a warmer welcome anywhere else. Talk about the decor of the rooms, food, warmth - everything was so perfect! We travelled with our parents and they were also equally moved with the hospitality we received from the lovely couple. We would love to recommend this place to anyone and if given a chance to go back to Skye, this is where we will stay without a second thought! Lovely experience indeed.
Tips:There are lots of eating options around and this is a good base for you to cover the Skye as well as highlands.

The owners were lovely. Everything was perfectly spotless and the beds super comfy. Also, breakfast was delicious (pancakes superb).
Tips:Red Skye was recommended by the owner and it did not dissapoint us. Amazing venison and sticky toffee pudding. Go to Dunvegar Castle and see millions of seals relaxing.

As a married gay couple we felt that we were being judged by a B&B that was offering "Christian Hospitality" as stated on their business card. Had we known this when booking we wouldn't have stayed here. Also, the bed in our room was most uncomfortable, with a lumpy, sagging mattress.

John and Iris are sensational hosts, in a beautiful home. Welcomed with a cup of tea, a beautifully decorated home and the delightful presence of both hosts. The room was beautiful, with a view across the waters and the bathroom was the most spacious I have seen in UK. Breakfast was excellent. Their advice of local places to see and their extensive history of Skye they so willingly shared was a highlight.

had a lovely stay at Fernlea b&b, owned by the very nice and generous Iris and John, who had the patience to wait for our very late arrival and with a warm supper nonetheless. their very lovely home, filled with their generosity and warmth was our trip's highlight (we drove through Scotland's countryside staying in 4 different locations). if i visit Isle of Skye again, for all the amazing natural beauty i saw, it definitely deserves as many visits as i can do, i will stay back at Fernlea b&b without hesitation. once again thank you Iris and John very much for our great stay on Isle of Skye.
