I love this place. This was my second stay here. Alan is so welcoming, helpful and friendly. The accommodation itself is so well presented and is warm and comfortable. Everything you might need is here and it is clean, modern and of good quality. Alan provided essentials such as milk, bread, cheese and porridge, and some nice treats, such as chocolate and Misty Isle gin! Highly recommended!

Alan will tell you everything you need about places to visit and where to eat. He will also advise on good walks.

What a find! We had a really lovely break for our week in Piper's Hut. The weather wasn't at its best(!), but we were really cosy and very comfortable. The attention to detail that Alan and Megan have given to this studio flat is incredible. Close enough to town to eat out, but far enough away to be peaceful. Perfect!

There seems to be a real shortage of staff in restaurants and cafes throughout Skye at the moment. Think picnic!! Essential to book ahead (sometimes 3 nights ahead) for restaurants in the evening. Didn't have a bad meal anywhere though! Also try 'Gusta' - up the hill where they sell gorgeous toiletries - for a fabulous 'proper' pizza and the Oyster Shed near the Talisker distillery for delicious seafood.

Firstly Thank you Alan for keeping in touch with us and offering to get us food in when we were stranded for 5 hours in traffic and then to give us a warm welcome when it was late at night. This little piece of heaven is in a good location within walking distance to the centre of Portree The apartment itself is homely, very clean, well kept and had everything we needed, all of which was of the highest quality. The best accommodation we have stayed in. Your extra little touches of providing breakfast goodies and of course the local beer and gin was appreciated. We used your notes about walks on Skye every day and visited some amazing places We loved our stay on Skye and especially at Piper’s hut. Will recommend to others and I’m sure we will be back again. Sea Breezes is a lovely little restaurant with lovely fresh seafood dining. Don’t miss climbing The Storr even in the rain. Magnificent. Fairy Pools is a favourite too

Fantastic self catering accommodation in Portree. The hosts were excellent, friendly and very accommodating. The accommodation was clean, fresh and provided all of the necessities, with a few extra touches, required to enjoy a stay on the Isle of Skye. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly be back.

It's the second time we've stayed at Piper's hut and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Portree. It's very central too town and very clean. When you arrive you have a welcome pack which includes breakfast,tea coffee plus a sample of local gin and Ale. I can't praise this place enough. We will definitely be back for a third visit.

Me and my wife have travelled the north of Scotland for our honeymoon. No place has been as good in quality and services as the Piper’s Hut. We’ve had at our private usage a little flat, with kitchen, bathroom, coffee machine, fridge, toaster, food… It was five minutes foot distance to the city centre of Portree, which is the biggest city on Skye Island and a strategic location for trip routes exploring the island. We met Megan, she has been lovely and caring. We she and Alex discovered of our honeymoon they have welcomed us with a card and a letter, and with a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate. We felt at home: our best staying in Scotland! Date of arrival - 24 June 2023

Alan, Megan and Alexander of Piper’s Hut are a lovely, welcoming Family. The accommodation at Pipers Hut is decorated and furnished to a high standard and with everything you need for a self catering holiday, comfortable bed and settee and ideal folding table to sit two people. A very generous welcome pack is provided with the basic essentials to get you started on your holiday and a couple luxury items too which you will find most acceptable. The centre of Portree, with all the restaurants, cafes, bars and shops is only a short pleasant 10 minute walk from Pipers Hut, so everything is easily accessible. Our visit here was our third visit and we have booked again for next year. For couples both old and young this has got to be the place of choice for accessing all the beautiful spots on the truly stunning Island.

There are several good restaurants in Portree, some will take advance bookings (Dulce & Brose, Antlers Restaurant) which is advisable to do but many are walk in and typing may i itself having to queue. Menus to suit all tastes and budgets are offered by all restaurants. Prince of India is good if you like curries but be aware this is a cash only establishment. Places to visit. As my wife and I are in our 60’s we tend to go to the more accessible places. Fairy Glen, Fairy pools (be prepared for middies here), the black houses are worth a visit. Here is the grave and memorial of Flora MacDonald and look out for the grave of Lee Alexander McQueen. Kilt rock and Leat Falls. See dinosaur footprints. Elgol, take a boat trip or just take in the beauty of the Black Cullins. Talisker and Toryvaig distilleries are worth visiting. Armadale Castle and Gardens, Dunvegan Castle and gardens make for good days. Take the ferry over to Raasay and visit the Distillery and Calum’s Road. For younger and theses more fit there are numerous walks with stunning views. Once you have been to Skye once, you will want to return again and again

Alan was very helpful for anything we needed. The accommodation was spot on and very well equipped.

Portree is very busy. Japanese restaurant very good, if a tad more than we pay in Liverpool. The drive to Elgol is stunning. Some of the smaller roads are in need of extensive repairs, be careful of the depth of the potholes.

Host was excellent. Very friendly and informative. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble, even offering us a lift to the town centre, shich was only a 10 minute walk away. We will definitely book again for a return trip to the wonderful isle kf skye

We went to the portree hotel for our first evening. This was only a 10 minute stroll from pipers hut. Our evening meal was lovely and reasonably priced. We stayed later than expected and enjoyed the hospitality in the bar area. We travelled over to dunvegan castle,home of the McLeod Clan. My partner is a McLeod. What a wonderful day out we had. We stopped at Plockton for a lovely walk round the harbour. Our evening was spent enjoying a few tipples in the local bars before enjoying an intimate late dinner at the Prince of India. Food was excellent and priced well. For an intimate meal, this is the place to go

This was a very warm and cozy property. The host(s) have obviously payed a significant amount of attention to detail and thought into the preparation and presentation of this property. You will find almost anything you could possibly need in a pinch without having to venture out after a long trip. The host(s) were also very approachable, kind, and helpful with regard to making recommendations for outings and dining options. I would not even consider other options if there was an opportunity for another trip to Isle of Skye. 10 out of 10 is simply an understatement.

I loved my stay at Piper's Hut. The accommodation was beautifully presented, with various essentials and local products provided for me to enjoy. I had wonderful welcome from Alan, who showed me around all the facilities and gave me very helpful tips on eating out, walks etc. When I got trapped on a walk on my last day, and did not return to Portree as expected, Alan raised the alarm and saved my life. He ad his lovely family visited me in hospital in Inverness. Highly recommended.

So many good walks and places to eat out here, plus three distilleries. Alan will advise you far better than I could!

The gorgeous shower was fantastic after a big day in the hills! I appreciated the quality of the bedding and the bath linens as well. What a stunning place to stay. Couldn't have been happier! The fantastic decor and use of space should win an award! Thank you for all the extras to enjoy our first breakfast. Really loved Piper’s Hut. Wonderfully comfortable and cozy. Terrific layout and decor. Alan and Megan took the time to provide bread, cheese, cereal, milk, cookies as well as other initial needs plus some goodies to enjoy! Much appreciated and a very welcoming gesture.

Book dinner ahead. On some occasions we ate a good breakfast and lunch and therefore did not need a full meal in the evening. Antlers bar and grill had good dinner options. Easy to walk to town from Piper’s Hut. Visit popular spots such as Old man of Storr, Fairy Pools or Neist Point as early as you can. Even in May traffic gets crazy. Aros Center is now closed which is a disappointment. The large CoOp store slightly out of town was great for any groceries including to-go sandwiches.

We couldn’t be more pleased with the accommodations. The house is new, spotlessly clean, and perfectly appointed and laid out. We were traveling to celebrate a milestone birthday and anniversary that had been postponed due to Covid, and our hosts left the most thoughtful cards, and gifts laid out for our arrival. That was really unexpected and such a wonderful surprise. Alan’s directions were spot on. Super easy to find. 5 Stars, this is a real find.

Everything I needed was provided. Comfortable bed; rainfall shower; kitchenette with microwave, stove, fridge, small freezer compartment; sofa; TV. Wifi was fast. Welcome pack with milk, bread, snacks, local G and T and wine was provided. Small details were also paid attention to- ice cubes in the freezer, salt and pepper on the table, bottle opener, tray to put muddy shoes in etc. The owner was very kind to collect me and deliver me back to the bus stop as I wasn't driving, even though my arrival was delayed.

Beautiful self catering apartment - where to start with the review.... Both Alan and Megan were very welcoming and were happy to offer advice about Skye's tourist attractions as well as were to eat and drink. The apartment itself is stunning and perfectly sized. Absolutely immaculate inside, warm and cosy. Wifi was easy to access and very good internet; kitchen area had everything you need and I didn't need to unpack my cafetiere, there was also a nice coffee machine with plenty of complimentary coffee as well as a gin in tonic each, which was very kind. The shower room again was immaculate and the shower was the best I've had in a long time, could have stayed in it all day. Complimentary shower products even down to ear buds, thought of everything but best of all was the towels.... very fresh and great drying towels! The location was also great, nice to be outside of town but not that far from a quick walk to the nearest bars and restaurants. We both wished we had booked three nights instead of two and will 100% be back. Highly recommend this wee gem of a place!

Piper's hut is the perfect place to stay when visiting the beautiful Isle of Skye - we will definitely be coming again! We received a warm welcome from Alan upon arrival and also had some great recommendations on places to visit and how best to plan our days. We wanted to make the most of being in Skye by hiking the popular trails - we were planning on relying on the OS maps app for this but physical copies were conveniently provided in the hut! There were also many other thoughtful extras included which made the stay very special. The shower was amazing and lived up to spa standards especially with the luxury Scottish soap! Most importantly, Piper's hut was cleaned to the highest standard - cleaner than any hotel room I've stayed in! You could never tell anybody else had stayed there before. Portree is a great location, providing easy access to amenities as well as popular visiting sites.

Our stay at Piper's Hut was wonderful. Great owners, location, amenities, etc. Complete with all the necessities for staying one night or more (we stayed 3). Able to walk into City Centre for stores/restaurants. Had to do our Covid-19 testing there and the internet service was strong and fast. Only "thing" we wish was there was an ottoman for while sitting on the loveseat watching TV. Otherwise, all was great. Our favorite stay during our 3 weeks stay.

Superb location 5 minutes walk from town. The accommodation was spotless and deceptively spacious, the two skylight windows really added a feeling of space and were brilliant for bringing in the moonlight. Piper's Hut is the perfect little place to stay when exploring Skye. Accommodation has everything you need and more and Alan and Megan were ever so helpful and Kind giving lots of advice and tips to help us make the best of our 3 nights on Skye. Unfortunately we could not see and do everything, which means we will need to come back again and when I do I will sure to be booking back in Pipers hut as I can not fault it, cozy bed, amazing shower and all kitchen appliances you would need for a short or long stay.

I would advise that you have a list of the main places you want to see and look to see where they are located and group together to make the most of each day. My favourite was the fairy pools, coral beach and the boat ride where we got to see dolphins, seals, mink whales and sea eagles! I would recommend that when doing beaches or fairy pools you go early as possible or early evening to avoid the crowds. There is a car park just along from the fairly pools main car park that is free (we parked here as the road was grid locked getting to the main parking) Also take your time on the single track roads sheep have their own agenda and are often sitting in the middle if the roads!! Just have fun and take lots of pictures

Wonderful pla e to stay. Modern with wifi, smart TV and USB plugs. The welcome pack was an incredibly thoughtful touch. Even though Alan was away on holiday he still checked in to see how we were doing and gave us high s mobile number so that we could contact him is we needed to. Would highly recommend Pipers Hut.

The location was perfect and free parking a bonus. An amazing find. They thought of everything, milk, bread, cheese, oatcakes, jams, spread, coffee ,tea, biscuits, porridge cereal even kitchen roll which I thinks a godsend. The owners Alan & Megan introduced themselves and were really nice they even offered to take us to the restaurant as it was raining.

Fantastic brand new and spotless flat. The two additional skylights make it even more luminous. Very quiet place just outside of the centre of Portree managed by lovely people. The emergency food was a very nice touch also. Netflix was a bonus!

Piper's Hut is a 'tardis' - goodness knows how so much can be contained within the studio. It has everything. Comfortable, spotless and excellent value. Beautifully furnished to a very high standard. The owners have put a lot of thought into those little extras - milk, bread, tea, etc. so no need to worry about finding a shop for essentials after a long drive.

Parking in front of studio. Easy, 10-minute walk into Portree so no worries about parking there. Owners will advise current covid situation, but at our time of visiting, bookings essential in restaurants and many out-of-town coffee shops, etc. closed so take a picnic. All public places have hand sanitiser stations and felt very safe. Waterproof shoes/boots useful to have with you on Skye.

Alan and his wife were both home upon our arrival and allowed an early check in, which was perfect as we had been driving since early in the morning. Alan was really friendly and gave us lots of recommendations from a locals’ perspective - he couldn’t have been more hospitable. The accommodation is very central and only a short walk to the town centre. The little extras like bread, milk and coffee were a wonderful surprise and it’s clear they go above and beyond for their guests. Couldn’t recommend the Piper’s Hut enough, and will be sure to re-book upon a return to the Isle of Skye.

10/10 on all counts. We arrived to the warm hospitality of the hosts who were super communicative and provided lovely tips about the area. The actual space was neat and clean and set up with all the amenities one may need even during covid such as masks and sanitiser. It's a very modern space utilised to utmost effeciency. The space was also centrally located with shops close by. The hosts had added amazing touches throughout the space which went way above and beyond any expectations we had which we are super thankful for! Excellent stylish and well designed accommodation. Well appointed with all that one needs. Everything worked as it should e.g. wi fi, tv, which is important for weather in Skye especially in winter.

Close to the centre of Portree where there are restaurants/pubs/coffee houses. Also the centre of Portree is the transport point if guests do not have a car so the walk is not a great distance. Piper's Hut is an excellent central Skye location to get around the islands many attractions.

Good website. Easy booking and friendly, straightforward and informative check-in. The location is convenient and the facilities superb. You have gone the extra mile with unexpected, thoughtful extras to ensure a stay in the Piper's Hut is a very pleasurable experience. My visit coincided with a seasonal drop in temperature so the heating could have been a touch warmer. You do invite anyone to knock if there's a problem so if it had bothered me too much I would have contacted you. Other than that I was very comfortable indeed.
