A highly reccommended place to stay. Very nice people who live in the house and a very beautiful upstairs flat for the 4 of us. You have two double bedrooms, a bathroom and a full kitchen with microwave and a kettle. As no breakfast served, they leave you a lot of things to do it yourself. Even a Spanish chorizo for us, an special detail. We have spent two nights, and we had spent more and more, feeling so good there. We used the table outside to had dinner and as it was Easter, we did egg hunting. It's a ten minutes walk from the town center For sure, we'll reccommend to our friends, travelling from abroad.

What a fantastic find! Beautiful, peaceful location but only 10 minutes or so walk to town. Absolutely spotlessly clean with all the facilities you need including a very well equipped kitchen. Lovely, friendly host too. If you're staying in Portree, this is the place...

The place it's so beautiful and quiet! Nice view from the window! The lady who was taking care at the hotel is so Friendly and lovely! I'm alergic to lactose and she brought me lactose-free food. I highly recommend the hotel. Thanks for welcome me!
Tips:Walk around the city is wonderful! Pre-book the restaurante before you go to the city, all of the restaurants are normally full over there. I recomend, if you like meat, you should try angus steak. Its the best steak I've had so far. I hope you have fun!!

First of all, I would like to thank Elaine for receiving me so well, for tips on the island, for breakfast, and for taking me to the bus stop when I left. I did not expect so much care. Thank you very much. The accommodation is excellent, it is a historic house, which in the past was a stable. My room was large and cozy, with a lovely view of the garden and the mountain. The private bathroom was external and was always clean. Close to downtown, but the walk includes climbing uphill as it sits on a quiet hill.

5th June 2019:
Great location. We enjoyed walking to the very nearby hotel for dinner. Great view of the harbor and Portree from their dining room. Our room was spacious and very clean. The common room could use a more comfortable seating area with a small table and relaxing atmosphere. The cold breakfast was nicely presented but I would have preferred a cooked breakfast for the price.
Tips:Portree was a lovely little town. Restaurants there are slammed, so appear at the door at 5pm when they open and you will get seated. Otherwise, it could be a problem. Most don't take phone reservations. We had a late dinner(9pm) at Curran Hotel near our B&B as our hostess called and begged for us on our first night, otherwise we would have been stuck.

Owner Response:Thank you for your Review. We are glad to hear that you liked our location and were happy with your bedroom. We are sorry, though, that you were not happy with our most popular full breakfast buffet. If you had asked at any point of your 2-night stay, we could easily have provided an alternative. As it happens, a cooked breakfast is much cheaper - and quicker! - for us to provide. As to the lay-out of what you refer to as our common room – unfortunately, this is principally our Breakfast room, where we have to fit in up to 7 people at a time in the mornings. There is simply not enough space for sofas etc – that is why your bedroom has a leather recliner chair and footstool for your comfort. Apart from that, we hope you enjoyed your visit to Skye. Kind Regards, Conusg Bed and Breakfast.

Elaine was the perfect host!! Very welcoming & very helpful with local knowledge & tips on what to do in the area. We had the superior double room which was beautifully presented and very comfortable - 5 stars!! Breakfast both days was delicious. Thanks Elaine!! Mary & John, Brisbane, Australia.
Tips:Pub very close to Elaine's - Cuillin Hills Hotel is absolutely beautiful in the evening to go for a drink or dinner - the views are amazing, & it is lovely sitting by the lounge fire in the lounge-room area. Very easy walk from the B&B - Less than a minute. A walk around the loch starts & finishes very close to the B&B, which offers amazing views and takes about an hour. Neist Point Lighthouse is well worth the drive if you want a longer walk - can do short or long (we took about 3 hours). Absolutely spectacular!! Only stayed 2 nights & wish I could have stayed at least a week!!!

The B&B is just what one looks for, great service, great welcome, great host, good information on local trips/amenities and it is located close enough to Portree yet in a quiet and charming surrounding. The breakfast buffet is the best we've ever had !
Tips:Elaine is a fantastic host and knows a lot about the local area so she gives very useful advice/tips (for example, in our case, predicting the arrival of clouds due to the morning wind blowing in a certain way so that we left early enough to still make our hike). There are board and card games in the lounge, which is very cosy. The vegetarian menu for breakfast was excellent and probably a reason on its own to stay here!

Breakfast was very good . Hostess was very helpful with helping us organize our day on Skye. The weather determines what choices are better than others. We were there the last week of April so the traffic wasn’t too terrible.

Lovely comfortable room with everything we might need. Large en suite bathroom again with all that we might need. The breakfasts were excellent with fresh daily produce. Hostess was very helpful, and knowledgeable about things to do in the area. We really enjoyed our stay at Conusg.
Tips:Walks galore, and scenery to take your breath away. Aros centre (Portree) has various evening events including films. Do wise-up on single track roads if you are not familiar with how to use them - it will make your tours much less stressful. We liked Neist Point and the island of Oronsay walking across the causeway. Storr and Quirang amazing. Too many things to mention.

We had an excellent family stay and felt like our home away from home. Elaine was a perfect host and catered to all our needs. We had very sumptuous buffet breakfast on both the days and we had a wonderful 2 nights stay. The town is not very far and the walk itself is very refreshing and invigorating. I would strongly recommend it to all families coming to the Isle of Sky
Tips:Credit Cards are accepted for payment which is a big plus point considering that many other B&B accept cash only. I would recommend trying out food at TASTE OF INDIA restaurant which serves delicious and mouth watering Indian food. Avoid Prince of India restaurant as the good as well as staff behaviour is not good. Do buy Talisker Single Malt Whosky from the Food Cooperative General Store which gives reasonable price

What a fabulous host Elaine is , nothing was too much trouble. She guided us in by phone when we got lost and put all the lights on the exterior of the property so we could find it on a dark January night. Room was spotless and breakfast lovely. Elaine was helpful of where to visit and the best places to eat. Wonderful host. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
Tips:We ate in the Portree Hotel and had the home made steak and ale pie and home made macaroni cheese. Beautiful food at a resonance price. It was also the only establishment in the area serving real ale due to the time of year so if you're a real ale fan visiting in January this is the place to go.

The bedroom was great! Really appreciated the coffee and tea available all day. Can get a bit cold but Elaine provided us with so many blankets so it was very cosy. It would be nice if there was laundry available even if it was for a fee because the walk into town is a bit far with a load of laundry on your back.
Tips:We had an amazing tour with "Love Skye" tours. Angela was our guide and despite the fact that it was pouring rain and miserably windy, it was a lot of fun. We highly recommend her.

Elaine was the best host we've ever met. The host family is very kind. Actually we had a car accident just before we arrived in Conusg. Elaine and his husband helped us to check up the car at the night. The next morning, she called to insurance company to explain the situation and arranged garage to fix it. Without their help, our travel in Skye island could end with totally bed memory. Thanks for their kindness, we had lovely experience in Scotland. We really appreciate their kindness during our stay. The room is very cozy, so you may feel at home. We'll definitely stay again when we visit Skye in the future.
Tips:The route Elaine recommended was really nice. Don't miss Quiraing. It's great place. If you get Conusg at night time, there is Chinese restaurant where you can take away. They are open until 10 p.m. If you ask Elaine the location, she would kindly tell you where it is.

Elaine was very pleasant, friendly and welcoming. She provided very useful advice and guidance for our travelling in Isle of Skye. Facilities of the premise were well maintained and sufficient. Breakfast spread was healthily sumptuous with yogurts, fruits and bakery over a buffet spread - a pleasant break away from the typical sausages, bacon, fried eggs spread. Very comfortable stay.
Tips:The location could be a little tricky to find. But if you drive / on a road trip and have a SAT NAV with you, searching via postcode shouldn't be a problem at all.

Elaine is SO welcoming, helpful and accommodating. She provides a varied and delicious European style breakfast, the rooms are clean, spacious and well stocked. Easy for us to park the car. Every morning we examined the weather and possible places to visit, routes, points of interest, etc. She was extremely helpful in making our visit to Skye memorable.
Tips:Not impressed with the prices of food in town compared to the hotel just a few seconds away from the guest house. We had a couple of dinners there and the food was delicious, the view spectacular. Drive around the perimeter of Skye. Go to Three Chimneys for a fabulous dining experience. Recommend the inn at Edinbane for food and live music. Hike in the Quiraing. Eat lots of seafood!

Incredible holiday in Skye, and marvelous B&B. Elaine is a wonderful hostess, and gave us several recommendations for sites to see, shops to visit, and restaurants to eat at. Very nice accommodations, and good selection for breakfast (although a full Scottish breakfast was not available). We had to leave early to make connections and Ellaine graciously provided breakfast an hour early (7am). The location can be a challenge to find, we recommend the use of a GPS. Would definitely go again.

Excellent service all round, breakfast was great, it was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and a good sleep was had. We had two nights there and would certainly stay there again. It is within easy walking distance of Portree town if you do not have a vehicle. The owner is very knowledgeable of Skye and was quite happy to share that knowledge.
Tips:You need more than two days but the Nieste Point Lighthouse, the Old Man of Storr, the Quairang take the narrow road over the top from Uig it's well worth the view. If driving be prepared to get off the main highway as that is were you see the true Skye. There are lots more so make sure you have plenty of time.

I had a lovely stay at Conusg. The host was very welcoming, and had the rare B&B perfect balance of attentiveness and privacy. She got me organized early about what I hoped to visit in my short time on Skye, provided good conversation and made a lovely breakfast spread (with porridge!). A nice connection with fellow guests was had as well. The history of the house as a former horse stable gave it a nice charm. I enjoyed that the guest house was not directly within the center core of the town, but an easy and pleasant stroll to it. Highly recommended when visiting Skye!
Tips:I really loved my time on Skye. Some of my favorite things were the 1-hour Talisker Distillery tour; driving beyond to Talisker Bay and its black & white sands; exploring Neist Point lighthouse and stone sculptures; and being exhilarated by driving the Sleat Peninsula loop for the views and the challenging road.

We could not have had a better stay. This bed and breakfast is housed in what was once the stable for a large Inn down the road. As such, there are some quirks, which were quickly pointed out, floors out of plumb etc, each that we think added to the history and charm of the place. Our rooms (we had two with a shared bathroom, for just those two rooms) were spacious and well equipped, right down to the tea and cookies. Breakfast was exactly what we hoped for, we chose the continental, rather than the cooked and were not disappointed, though the cooked at the other table looked very good too! There were cereals, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, meats and cheeses, boiled eggs etc etc. The best part of the Conusg was the owner, Elaine. She gave us great tips, directions and lots of fun conversation. She could not have been more accommodating We would stay there again, if only for the great hospitality, but happily, we loved the place too!

What can I say? Conusg is very conveniently located (except in a severe snow storm) for the centre of Portree. The friendly welcome, the hospitality, the room, the "communal" lounge (which we had all to ourselves) and the food were all first class. We nearly got snowed in our second night: The road up to the B&B, although fairly short, is quite steep, so in icy or snowbound conditions it might be a problem. Elaine and her husband are really excellent hosts, though, and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend Conusg to anyone without any reservations.
Tips:Our stay was definitely "out of season" and Skye seems to shut down to a large extent from November to the end of February. We found a lot of eateries and places of interest outside Portree were shut, but some (craft shops and the like) will open up if you knock on the door. Restaurants are less accommodating, for obvious reasons. In Portree itself, most of the Hotels and Restaurants were operating, but we were not 100% successful in locating the good ones. Our best culinary experiences were at the Aros Centre, just outside Portree, the Isles Hotel in Portree itself and the Old Inn, in Carbost. A telling factor is that all three are obviously used regularly by the local population and serve straight-forward no-nonsense good value meals.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Not only was the room spacious and comfortable but we had our own living room to relax in after a day full of walking- with loads of information on where to visit for the rest of our stay. The highlight of this stay though was Elaine, she couldn't be more friendly, helpful and accommodating to us. This place had the full package! As for breakfast it was a nice change from full fried Scottish breakfast we were used to . Highly recommended!
Tips:There are lots of amazing things to do for walkers here. Your best bet is to go to the information centre where they can give you maps and walks or ask Elaine for advice. We would recommend the 'prince of India' Indian restaurant- it may look dingy from the outside which almost put us off but actually the food was lovely. As was the panda Chinese takeaway.
