The Snug....the name hits it 100%! A cozy little cottage, has really everything you need! The house is lovingly and tastefully furnished. Lisa, the owner, was very careful to make you feel completely comfortable and gave us numerous tips for excursions, hikes and restaurants. The location is fantastic and you have many opportunities to explore the beautiful island of Skye.

This was the best place to stay on Skye. The location is perfect, the cottage is incredible and the hosts, Lisa and Paul, are so friendly and amazing. I will definitely come back.

Tips:

The Snug is pretty centrally located. It's really quiet and peaceful. If you want bustling, this isn't it. If you want a true Skye experience and quiet country, this is perfect. I love how easy is it to get anywhere from here.

Really a luxury self-catering studio for two. Everything is spotless clean and we enjoyed the comfort of the studio. Everything you can think of is there. Everything is modern and stylish. We liked it very much. It was our best stay in Scotland.

Tips:

Skye is amazing. Lisa gave very good directions for shops, pubs and sightseeing.

lovely cottage with all the needed equipment and even more than expected: high quality, modern bathroom with heated towel racks , working washer/dryer, lovely bed/living space. Lisa is amazingly helpful both pre/during trip: will send tons of info about SKye and routes and activities. On site: she is always available for more help and assistance and obviously takes great pride in her lovely home for travelers. We loved our 4 night stay and would happily return and plan to recommend to everyone we know if they head to Skye!

Tips:

Edinbane Lodge for splurge meal: amazing!

Absolutely fantastic stay! Lisa is a wonderful hostess, and not only possessed a wealth of knowledge about Skye that she readily shared, she was also amazingly kind and accommodating when I forgot to pack a drawer full of clothes! The Snug is nicely appointed, spotless and cozy, perfect for a romantic getaway for two. It’s not set up for a family stay (unless you have one infant and a pack and play) but I do believe there are other places on the property to accommodate larger parties.

Tips:

The Edinbane Inn is right down the road, the food is tasty, the live music on Tuesday and Friday nights, to die for. The Island at the Edge Croft is practically next door, and is a great place to visit if you’d like to learn about Crofting with sheep, knitting ganseys and other traditional knitwear, and traditional lifestyles with a great contemporary twist. Location-wise it’s in the middle of the Island, about 20 minutes from Portree, Uig, and Donvegan.

Tips:

A wonderful spot and perfect accommodation. So clean, with such attention made to every detail. It is called the Snug for a very good reason. Truly the coziest and most comfortable accommodation of our month long stay in Scotland. We were in a great location for hiking and sight seeing. LIsa gave us great suggestions and left a guide book as well as trail maps to help us navigate. Upon arrival, our fridge was stocked with bread, butter, milk, fresh farm raised eggs from their own chickens. We could not have asked for a better accommodation!

Tips:

The Edinbane Inn was nearby with great Sticky Toffee Pudding! We hiked to Neist Point Lighthouse, saw Dunvegan Castle, very nearby and the Fairy Pools. Crafts, pottery and weaving spots along the Waternish Peninsula.

28th August 2017:

A friendly welcome, an excellent food starter which meant we did not need to seek out shops immediately. First class parking space which did not get muddy in inclement weather. Copious information left that was suitable for visitors of all abilities. Help and advice was at hand if needed (house close by). Easy check out and prompt return of "barrack room damages money". We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hope to be back.

Tips:

Pleasant to sit out when weather permitted. Picturesque surroundings. Can highly recommend Edinbane Inn - excellent service and good food choice. Worth following guides to different peninsulars perhaps adding a few more to the south of the island. Talisker distillery well worth a visit. Beware of Camper Vans on narrow roads especially in wet conditions - holdups can be very time consuming.

Staying at the snug made our trip to Skye even more special. The location is brilliant for travelling around both sides of the Island. The Snug itself is lovely and makes relaxing at night after a long day of walks very easy. It feels like a home and has everything you would ever need. Lisa is also an amazing host and has gone above and beyond with additional wee touches to make it a luxury stay. If you are going to Skye you should definitiely stay here.

Tips:

The Antlers bar and grill in Portree has great atmosphere and tasty food. Brother's point is a great wee walk and you can get the best photos from the Quiraing.

Very welcoming and helpful. We appreciated having privacy but also glad that you were nearby, should there be any problems (which there weren't!) The Snug is excellently fitted out to a very high standard. The bed was extremely comfortable. Shower was good, hot water all the time and powerful.

Tips:

Had an excellent meal at the Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant. Cooking in the Snug was easy as there were plenty of utensils etc. The walk to the Coral Beach was beautiful. Fairy Pools walk was also enjoyable.

Fantastic accommodation, could not fault it. Hosts have thought of everything. Comfortable and luxuriously appointed. Loved the view from the dining table, could not tire of that! Wonderful powerful shower and super comfy mattress. Not forgetting the wonderfully fresh eggs left for us, never tasted eggs as good! One of our favourite trips!

Tips:

1) Walk up to the Storr, fantastic close up. 2) Great views from Corrie Lagan 3) Fantastic artisan coffee house on the road to Uig (after the kilted rock). Set next to house that featured on Grand Designs. 4) Co-op in Portree is well stocked and they sell reasonably priced Stornoway black pudding!

4th March 2015:

This was our first trip to Skye and despite the changeable weather we had the best weekend away. The Snug was the perfect place for our first time here as it was close to all the nearby attractions with the Cuillins and the Quaraing being only a half hour drive away. The Snug itself is lovely and has everything you could possibly need when it comes to the kitchen as well as a very comfy lounge and bed area. Our hosts could not have been nicer and we were greeted on arrival and given a welcome package which included eggs from the farm and bacon. I would not hesitate to come back and hope to stay for longer on our next trip. I've already recommended a stay here to all my friends and family. Thank you for such a lovely weekend!

Tips:

I would recommend going to The Granary in Portree for lunch. We had tried Cafe Arriba which was suggested by Lisa but it was unfortunately full. Also visited the Aros for lunch and would recommend here too. Loved visiting Kilt Rock and seeing the lovely waterfall which was made all the better by the amount of rainfall that had happen the days before.
