10th September 2019:

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable night at Lochshore House, which is has fabulous views across the loch. Karen and Colin were excellent hosts who Made us feel relaxed and welcome. The bedroom was comfortable and clean, Karen provided an excellent breakfast in the morning, her home made bread and muffins were delicious! Our only regret was that we had only booked one night, definitely plan to make a return visit.

Tips:

Edinbane Inn is a five minute drive away and provided great food at reasonable prices.

We had three wonderful days on the Isle of Skye. Karen and her husband were excellent hosts. The location of the house is gorgeous, overlooking the water, animals around the house. Breakfast was fabulous. Karen has given us a good insight on how she and her husband are in harmony with the environment and trying to avoid food waste.

22nd June 2019:

This was our first time at Lochshore House and we hope to return. Karen and Colin are lovely people who make you feel very welcome. Karen is a great baker (and when I say great I mean it. Utterly delicious!) Our room was lovely, good bathroom and a lovely lounge with 1 other guest room. The location at the loch is amazing! And the sunset from the room! There are lovely small details that make the difference to other b&b’s, binoculars and usb-chargers in the room for instance. But the hospitality is what Lochshore House makes truly special. We hope to return and stay longer.

2nd June 2019:

We had an amazing stay at the Lochshore House. Karen and Colin are the perfect hosts providing enough assistance and information to make for a great stay in Skye yet removed enough to give us the feel of our own space at their beautiful Croft. We enjoyed long walks in the immediate area, observing beautiful landscapes and an array of animals. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Karen’s amazing breakfast menu! She is a wonderful cook and provides a hearty meal for the day ahead. I highly recommend a stay at the Lochshore House.

Tips:

Single Track Cafe is a must for the best hot chocolate in Scotland! We enjoyed the Highland museum which features early Croft life on the Isle of Skye.

Gracious hosts. Karen was a wealth of information regarding local activities and businesses and Colin took lots of time teaaching us in a hands-on fashion all about the farm. It was almost lambing time so the sheep were close by and we loved watching them. The breakfast s were superb (with tiny details such a tiny hand chopped chives on my eggs with salmon) and so filling that we never felt the need for lunch. The rooms were comfortable with very nice mattresses and quality linens. Highly recommend!

Tips:

Edinbane Inn and Edinbane Lodge are locates within a five minute drive and are both fantastic.

We stayed one night but I wished we could've stayed longer. The location of the house is just perfect. Quiet , with beautiful views, and not too far from goods restaurants and local shops. Our room was very clean, and cosy. With everything you need. I felt like home here. And our hosts , Karen and Colin are very very kind. I slept very well! And, the breakfast was delicious ! Original various and really really good! The next time we go to Skye, we will definitely go at Lochshore House.

Tips:

The house is at 5 mn from the Edinbane in which serve great food . Also Perfectly situated to visit Dunvegan and the castle. We particularly loved this castle and his beautiful garden. Not far from Portree too. 20 Minutes.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Lochshore House. The food was delicious and the grounds were breathtaking. We especially enjoyed the tip to take a taxi to Edinbane and have dinner at the Edinbane Inn and it happened to be on a night with live, local music. I cannot say enough good things about our stay!

Tips:

Take a taxi to Edinbane and have a meal at the Edinbane Inn, and if you happen to be in the area on a Tuesday you're in luck because they have live music and it was a wonderful evening. We also loved our dinner the Lochbay Restaurant in Stein. I would definitely recommend taking a taxi at night, because the Skye roads are quite narrow and unfamiliar enough during the daytime for this American driver.

By far the best B & B that we have ever stayed in. Both Karen and Colin were wonderfull hosts. The facilities and fine details are a level way above the rest. Very comfortable room plus a reading area next to it which had views that you would struggle to match anywhere. Karen also went out of her way and offered other idea’s for places to visit in beautiful Isle of Skye. The breakfast was again next level and easily beats what 5 star hotels try to offer - I even asked if she was a chef in her previous life. I could easily go on but I think when you read this review and compare it to other reviews that this is the only place to stay when on Isle of Skye.

An excellent B&B we strongly recommend. We stayed at Lochshore House in July 2018 and were very happy to have chosen this B&B as one of our stops during our tour through Scotland. Karen and Colin are wonderful hosts who take care of their guests in a remarkable way : breakfasts with fresh, local products and Karen's home-made pastries (e.g., muffins) are delicious, the rooms offered are very comfortable and clean and Karen is always ready to help her guests with useful tips on restaurants and nice places to visit. And not to forget the amazing environment with a beautiful loch view and the sheep, the lambs and the ducks, strengthening the rural and quiet atmosphere of the place. In a nutshell, a top location with great hosts.

You are assured of a very warm welcome from Karen and Colin, a spotlessly clean room with a magnificent view and a great breakfast with a very wide choice. Karen's freshly baked muffins each morning are legendary! This was our third visit and we'll certainly be back.

Tips:

The Edinbane Inn about 10 minutes away serves very good food and has traditional music some evenings - eat before 9.00 if the music is not your thing. The Old School at Dunvegan is also good. As with all restaurants locally booking is advisable as they can get very busy. There is a good range of local galleries and craft studios and Skyeskyns is also worth a look and the walking is just spectacular.

In addition to the 5 star accommodations, the tips for "off the beaten path" places to explore made us wish we had more time to enjoy this magical place.

10th June 2017:

What a fantastic stay. Having only 2 rooms to let to visitors, it felt more like staying as a guest in someone's home than being in a hotel. I loved the ducks and chickens and sheep, being able to sleep with windows open without fear of being awakened by sirens and road noise. The little touches, like tea and cake upon arrival, homemade bread and compote for breakfast, made it all the more special.

Tips:

Don't count on GPS directions to get you to the house or around the island. Make sure to have paper copy, as cell phones have not yet ruined the island. Reservations for dinner (at least 2 days in advance) are also a must in the high season. We loved the Edinbane Inn. The Old School was OK, but they had some service challenges (new staff). Seabreezes in Portree is good, but a bit hetic (small, and packed with a tour group from Asia when we were there, so quite noisey).

9th April 2017:

We stayed for two nights in late March. Karen made us feel very welcome and we had a lovely clean & comfortable room overlooking the loch- and much to my excitement otter tracks in the grass visible from our bedroom! The bathroom was clean and spacious with a separate bath and shower. They also had a separate sitting room (shared by their two B&B rooms) which also overlooked the loch and had a spotting scope and lots of interesting books and maps etc- we just wish we could have spent more time enjoying this lovely space- however the weather was too good to stay inside! Breakfast was incredible. Best full English (Scottish!) either of us had ever had. It was made with local produce and their sausages were homemade- delicious. The breakfast menu was extensive and I really liked the idea of ordering it the night before to try and reduce waste. The little things were what set this B&B apart from the other good B&Bs we stayed in. Karen left us various homemade cakes and biscuits- on arrival and departure. She also on our arrival asked us if we would like fresh milk in our room to have on our tea tray (in an insulated flask to keep it cool)- something which makes a huge difference between a decent cup of tea and a rubbish one with UHT milk! She was also very flexible during our stay as to when we could come & go- we got up before sunrise one morning so that we could do some sunrise photography at the Quiraing and Karen had breakfast ready on our return. Colin was also an excellent host and was doing a great job training their gorgeous working sheepdog pup! Karen also gave us some great recommendations for places for dinner- not just in Skye but for the rest of our travels around Scotland. Thank you so much for such a lovely couple of days. It was faultless!

Tips:

Quiraing, Fairy pools, driving around any of the lochs, Portree eagle spotting boat trip.

We loved our stay. Your hospitality was fantastic, the room was beautiful and we loved the location. Skye is just beautiful. And we'll never be able to eat porridge without whiskey again.

Tips:

Fantastic hiking. I think the only part we didn't really understand prior is the scale of the island, and how long it takes to move around. Part of that is that driving on the other side of the road is tricky for us, so it requires more concentration and makes long trips stressful. Wish there was public transit around the island, or taxis, etc.--some way to get around other than driving. There was too much we didn't get to see--guess we have to come back! Beautiful place.

Karen and Colin have created an OUTSTANDING B&B near Edinbane on Skye. We have traveled all over Europe as well as many other parts of the world (50+ countries) and this is one of the very best B&B's - if not THE best - we have ever stayed in. They have anticipated every need one might have and created an ultra comfortable "country" place to stay - complete with sheep, chickens, etc. which simply add to the charm! The view out over the loch is fabulous. All in all - a 5 star B&B.

We had a wonderful stay at Lochshore house. We had read the reviews online about how good it was so we were prepared to be impressed but even then it surpassed all our expectations. The room was clean and comfortable with everything we could have asked for - robes, slippers, TV, kettle etc. It also had beautiful views out to the sea and the croft which was great for wildlife spotting. Karen and Colin were fantastic hosts! They were very friendly and tentative. They had great knowledge of the local area and were able to recommend restaurants and walks near the house. Karen's breakfast was superb - only disappointment was that we weren't there long enough to try everything on the menu. Thanks for a brilliant stay - will definitely visit again. Hugs to Finn!

On our arrival to Lochshore House we were very warmly welcomed by Karen and Colin who immediately made us feel at ease. The house was bright and warm and the decor was great too. Our room was lovely and relaxing - it was spacious, clean, with a really comfy bed and lots of nice home touches. On arrival, we were offered a cup of tea or coffee which was brought up to us on a tray, alongside delicious homemade muffins, which we were not expecting but were very kindly received after a long journey to Skye! Breakfasts were great too! There was a very good selection of food on offer and the Scottish breakfasts were cooked perfectly; lovely, hot and tasted delicious! Karen and Colin always took time to chat with you and always offered help and advice with any questions we had. Lochshore House is in a fantastic location and is the perfect base for exploring the island. It was so quiet and peaceful. An added extra for us, included being offered the chance to feed an abandoned baby lamb on the farm. This B&B provided a really relaxing atmosphere that we will both greatly miss! We hope to come back and are already looking forward to planning our next visit!

Tips:

The B&B is well located for north of the island - Neist Point, Quiraing and Fairy Pools are all within 45 minutes drive of the location. The local pub, the Edinbane Inn, does some really nice food and is highly recommended.

We recently stayed at Lochshore House for 4 nights at the beginning of April. We chose this B&B after checking recent reviews and we were not disappointed. The B&B is located in the most scenic and peaceful of locations. The hosts were extremely welcoming and attentive and ensured our stay was as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. Our room was immaculate and the bed extremely comfortable. There was a fantasctic selection at breakfast and we would highly recommend the duck eggs. We would certainly stay here again on future visits to the island.

We particularly enjoyed the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, we've really felt at home! The breakfast and the room were gorgeous, we've really appreciated the choice of homemade traditional recipes, delicious!! The shared lounge between the two guest rooms is also great.

Tips:

The Edinbane Inn was our favourite restaurant. The Coral Beach was our favourite place for a nice walk, the views and some relaxed time on the fields behind it.

I have withdrawal symptoms already from not being on Skye and waking up in that gorgeous bed at Lochshore House. The location is perfect; I loved the chickens, ducks and sheep; the breakfast was perfect especially trying proper porridge for the first time. The hosts couldn't have been nicer or more helpful - I would come back in a heartbeat.

Tips:

Edinbane Inn was great, the school house one was good too. The museum up the road was interesting and cheap. We didn't eat lunch as we were too full of breakfast still ;)

We received a warm welcome from Karen and Colin and felt at home straight away. Very high standard cosy B&B. Amazingly comfortable bed. The breakfast was wonderful and Karen's home-cooked cakes and biscuits were a real treat. Great location too, especially good for star gazing and getting a peaceful night's sleep.

Tips:

Our favourite walk was in the Trotternish - a walk that was in one of Karen's books - amazing scenery. I would say it is a must-do if visiting Skye.

Our stay at the Lochshore House was by far the best experience we've had using a B&B in Scotland, and this was our second time in the UK. The hosts were so sweet and helpful, and the animals were fun to watch. We were missing our dogs and it was nice to have a resident pup on site to play with. Every morning Karen helped us plan the day's activities. Without her help, we would have been driving all over the island! The house and rooms were all well appointed and modern to our standards. One evening we returned to some fresh shortbread cookies, and we took them the next day when we went sightseeing. They made for an excellent snack!

Tips:

If you plan to visit Skye, do not hesitate to book your stay at the Lochshore House - you will not be disappointed! We had such a great time here that the rest of our accommodations didn't compare!

My husband and I stayed at Lochshore House as part of our honeymoon around the Scottish Highlands. It was without a doubt our favorite accommodation from the entire trip---Karen and Colin's kindness and hospitality beat our 5 star accommodation in London. Plus, the Isle of Skye, in general, is incredible. When Karen and Colin found out it was our honeymoon they surprised us with champagne, shortbread (my favorite!) and a handwritten card. Their advice on what to do and see was invaluable, and made our trip an absolute joy, headache free. Breakfast was amazing (try the blueberry pancakes!), and the house was spotless. Oh, and the wifi was actually fast-----a rarity in Scottish hotels!

The view of the loch from our room was lovely - and we were delighted to see two otters swimming along the shoreline when we went down there late evening. Highly recommended.

Lochshore House fully lived up to the high expectations we had for it. I wish we would have stayed here for more than two nights! Karen and Colin were wonderful hosts and have really created a delightful experience for their guests with every detail accounted for. They were very understanding even when we arrived slightly later than we expected. They checked us right in and showed us to our spacious room, and then Karen called ahead to a local restaurant to make sure they were still serving. The room was just the right size with a huge king bed, dressers and a walk-in closet for storage, and a place to make tea and coffee in the room. (Also stocked with candy and tea biscuits, and Cadbury hot chocolate–yum!) Gorgeous views of the loch and perfect space for watching the farm animals (goats, ducks, & hens who all do adorable things all day long). Bathroom was generously sized with a tub and shower. Plenty of space to put toiletries. I know it's a small thing, but I loved the scent of the sea kelp soap, shampoo and lotion. Heated towel rack and heated floors (I think) are just extra finishing touches. Everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delightful with cereal, amazing Greek-style yogurt, pastries, tea and coffee set out. Cooked breakfast was a full Scottish for my husband and a vegetarian omelette for me, made with farm-fresh eggs. Great way to start the day with a hearty meal. As a bonus, we got to see four day-old baby ducklings, which just made Lochshore House the quaintest thing that ever happened.

Tips:

Definitely check out the Edinbane Inn if you are in the area! Great local food and delicious vegetarian options too. Karen can also recommend a full route for to explore the Trotternish Peninsula, including where to stop for great views and where to get the best hot chocolate you've ever had (The Single Track Cafe).

The comfortable homey guest house has two spacious rooms with a big boxspring-kingsize-bed and a large bathroom ensuite. The owners Karen and Colin are very heartly an gave us good advices for trips and restaurants. As we arrived they served us a tea for two and selfmade scones. The highlight was the breakfast. On the buffet there were selfbakes blueberry-Muffins, fresh fruits, juice and cereals. And you could choose between different warm cooked meals. For example pan cakes with blueberries, omlette with salmon, French toast, ect. Everythig tasted delicious. On the "Farm" live many animals (cats, dog, sheep, ducks, ckicken). We will come back!

Tips:

The Edinbane Inn is a pub with phantastic food! Absolutly awesome! Not far away is the Dunvegan Castle with beautiful gardens where you can do a seal trip. The Talisker Distillery is also a visit worth if you like Whisky. A nice harbour town is Portree.

The Afternoon Tea would be nice to try. The hike to the Man of Stor and Fairy pools were fabulous. We enjoyed the drive through the Quiraing (would have hiked if the weather was better). Hey we loved our time at Lochshore. It is by far the best place we have stayed in , in Scotland. You guys have got hospitality down to a fine art! We have put in a trip advisor report under " ironed undies"! We made the train with 3/4 hr to spare, we had no traffic. Thanks for rising early. Rob

This is a supurb B&B. We stayed for three days and found the location to be central to the most scenic areas of Skye. In addition, our room was spacious and very clean with an adjoining bathroom (including a shower and bathtub.) We particularly appreciated the environmentally friendly measures used at this B&B as well as the fresh and local food offered. There was a wide variety of choice for breakfast, which turned out to be absolutely delicious. Our stay on the Isle of Skye was beyond compare thanks to the kindness and hospitality of Karin and Colin, the owners. We highly recommend the Lochshore house to all other travelers.

Within driving distance is the Talisker distillery, as well as stunning hiking opportunities at the fairy pools and, further to the north,Quirang.

Colin & Karen were the perfect hosts during our two nights on the Isle of Skye. Our room was generously sized, tastefully decorated, and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was the largest that we had during our whole two week stay in Scotland. Breakfast each morning was fresh, well-prepared, and very tasty. The eggs are farm fresh (from their own chickens & ducks), the yoghurt was homemade, they introduced us to "back bacon" (fabulous) and their butchers' sausage was the best sausage that we had in Scotland. Karen also fed us the best black pudding we'd ever had. Each morning after breakfast we told Karen what we had in mind for the day and she helped us map our route to get the most out of our day. She also provided suggestions for activities/meals that we hadn't considered. For example, when we mentioned our love of cheese, Karen suggested we visit the Skye Island Baking Co., which serves a cheese & charcuterie platter - such a tasty find! They were also prepared to suggest local restaurants that met our constraints (served meals until 8pm, budget-conscious, & still open after "the season"). The site is beautiful, quiet, & peaceful. Karen & Colin are natural hosts - they made us feel quite at home during our stay. There is no doubt that we will plan our next trip to Skye around the lodging availability at Lochshore House. If it's full, we'll change our plans!

Copy of review for Tripadvisor: Home is where the heart is. This is the best summary of how we experienced our stay at Lochshore House. Me and my friend stayed for 3 nights and I recommend to do the same or more. Karen and Colin are wonderful hosts! Very welcoming (coffee/tea with homebaked cake on arrival), openhearted and helpful. We enjoyed their company and their love for the area they now live in. Wonderful to see how they really put their heart in their new home and their B&B. We enjoyed the chickens (and their eggs), ducks, cats and dog.The tips they gave us for walks, places to visit and to eat were really valuable. Our room was spacious and cozy with a very luxurious bathroom. More then enough storage space, extra's like a hair dryer, alarm clock etc. The beds were excellent and the shared first floor gallery sitting room (with binoculars, books, dvd player and dvd's, maps of the area) was a great bonus. Beautiful view over the loch!! Breakfast was great and so were the packed lunches. I cannot think of anything that was missing or could have been better. We were sad to leave this heartwarming B&B. So highly recommended!

We very very content about the Edibane Inn. We ate their 3 times! We enjoyed the walk to those beautiful rocky formations (cannot think of the name right now)

Great value and lovely hosts - we loved hearing about their travels and what brought them to Skye. Their recommendations for excursions, restaurants and pubs were most helpful. The breakfasts are the best...not only the real maple syrup being grand, but lovely porridge, spot on full Scottish and best ever blueberry French toast! Watching the ducks and chickens was a hoot and we slept perfectly snuggly and soundly despite some rather raging high winds during the night. We'll be telling all our friends that this is the place to go! Many thanks. (Karen, the cullin skink at the Green Welly was good - but still think Edinbane Inn's was the best! Hope Mexico is a wonderful break)

Tips:

Edinbane Inn is lovely for pub food and the music session we attended on Sunday afternoon made us feel like we 'belonged'. Getting a reservation for the LochBay restaurant led to a memorable dinner of the freshest fish/seafood - the drive is a little hairy - but then most single lane driving for two way traffic is! The walk to the light house at Neist - worth all the huffing and puffing...feels like you're at the ends of the earth!

Tips:

Stayed in July and the sun set at 10:30pm - but the restaurants close a lot earlier than that and since Skye is very toruisty you need to make sure you get to the place you want to eat on time otherwise you have to wait. A stay here takes b&b standards to a whole new level! A personal welcome from Colin on our arrival, who carried in our overnight bag, was a mere apperizer for our, all too brief, superb stay here. The delicious homemade cream cake and freshly brewer tea on our arrival was just what we needed after our five hour drive to Lochshore House. The weather had not been kind, but the views from the galleried sitting room shared by the two guest bedrooms, were still tremendous, with added entertainment provided by the sheep, ducks and chickens. Our bedroom was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The ensuite, though compact, had everything you could require including luxury products and irresistibly soft and fluffy, brilliant white towels, a weakness of mine. During the night the wind howled outside, though we slept soundly inside. Our bed was particularly comfortable, which was an added bonus! Breakfast too was a wonderful experience, far too many items to rhyme off but mention must be made of the particularly good homemade fayre on offer, yoghurt, jams, bread and granola. My husband claims this to have been his best 'Full Scottish' breakfast ever (and there have been many) with no nasty reminders later-if you understand! My smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on one of Karens fresh muffins, was amazing. Eggs were curtesy of the chickens roaming outside of course. Karen & Colin are tremendous hosts, good luck in booking though, once word gets out they won't have many vacancies!

It was so much more than a place to stay. We really appreciated getting to know the local history, culture & social issues. We also appreciated your care as hosts and your interest and enthusiasm as ambassadors for Skye!

Tips:

We enjoyed a day walking in the Cuillem Hills as well as the northern peninsula - all in good weather. Also enjoyed the Edinbane Inn restaurant!

This was an excellent B&B! We were warmly welcomed by the host with freshly baked scones and brewed tea. Nice touch! The facilities were very clean. Our room had a beautiful view on to Loch Greshornish. Watching the many farm-animals nearby during breakfast was entertaining. We would definitely recommend this B&B!!

Tips:

Check out the nearby restaurant Edinbane Inn for an excellent meal!

This is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed at. The location is beautiful, we were greeted by the lovely hostess with a warm smile, hot coffee and warm home made scones. Not to be missed, they are wonderful! My husband was there half an hour & started talking about returning to the Isle of Skye & Lochshore for longer, soon.

Perfect place to stay. Karen and Colin fantastic hosts who can't do enough to help you. Excellent accommodation with very comfy bed and large modern bathroom. The views from both our bedroom and the shared lounge were stunning. I don't think you could get a better breakfast and plenty of choice. Would thoroughly recommend.

Tips:

Dunvegan Castle is a great day out and if you buy a castle ticket for an extra fee you can have a 25 minute boat ride. This goes out to the seals and we must have seen over twenty when we went. It slow gets remarkably close so great for photographs. The castle itself is very striking and was most enjoyable to look around.
