8th October 2019:

Another place of great scottish hospitality! Enjoyed very much our stay close to Plockton, Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye. Very useful tips from the very friendly owners, lovely to talk to them. Excellent location to travel with a dog. Woodland walk opposite the house. Would definitely stay here for a second time!

Tips:

Plockton Hotel for excellent seafood, Glenelg Ferry from the Sleat Peninsula/Isle of Skye,Glenelg Brochs, Eilean o'Donan Castle in the evening for free, the german bakery near the Castle...

30th September 2019:

It was unfortunate that Margaret had been called away to an emergency but Gerry could not have done more for my friend and I while we stayed there. The room was comfortable and clean and the view from the house was very scenic.

Tips:

We went into Plockton before arriving at the B&B and had a very enjoyable meal at the Plockton Inn so I really cannot comment on other restaurants in the area although I know there must be some nearby. The house has easy access to the main road into Kyle of Lochalsh where there are plenty of places nearby to visit, e.g. Eilean Donan Castle and Gavin Maxwell's home under the bridge.

Very nice and welcoming hosts in a quite remote location

There are no eating places which can be walked to. Places in Plockton generally need to be booked. We had a couple of good 'pub' meals in the Dornie Hotel at Dornie (about 10mins drive away)

Super location to relax in, very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Our room was comfortable and the lounge and breakfast room had amazing views. Gerry and Margaret are lovely hosts with a wealth of local knowledge (and offer a hearty and tasty breakfast too).

Tips:

Gerry and Margaret gave us information on where to eat in Plockton, a short drive away, which we found very helpful and had excellent meals on both days of our stay - the Plockton Hotel and Plockton Shores - we’d highly recommend both restaurants. The lack of mobile phone coverage at the accommodation was a small minus but it also meant a quieter stay for us! However the WiFi was a helpful way for us to keep in touch with my elderly mother. Altogether an ideally located base to explore the nearby Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle and the tranquility of Plockton.

We stayed two nights at this B&B while on a family vacation through Scotland. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good and gave us a good start to our day. This B&B is not in town, it's in the country, about a 10 minute drive from the village of Dornie. Our host recommended dinner at the pub in Dornie on our first night and it was great. Not to mention the views of Eileen Donan castle lit up at night when we left the pub.

Tips:

If you want to be in the heart of things this is not the B&B for you, but if you're looking for a quiet place in the countryside, it's a lovely choice. It's also only about a 10 or 15 minute drive to Skye bridge.

Best B&B we have ever stayed with. Big rooms and comfortable lobby.Great breakfast. The owner was so helpful. If you want to relax and feel being taken care of - come to this place

Tips:

Although in the country side with peace and quiet it is very close to Plocton, Dorne (with great restaurang for sea food), Eileen Dorne castle and the gate to Isle of Skye

26th May 2015:

We loved Soluis Mu Thuath, we loved Margaret. It's an excellent little B&B that is the perfect stop over for travellers. It's not a hotel, it's not a luxury retreat. It's a wonderful lady who has turned part of her home into a B&B so she can earn a crust in her lively remote location and travellers can have a warm clean homely place to stop over on their Journey. I will be back on my motorbike with mates in the future. We will be back every time we are in this part of Scotland. It's perfect.

Tips:

Sit quietly in the dark at your bedroom window and watch out for the pine Martins. You might be lucky. There is a wonderful Lounge to sit, rest and watch TV or the views but no TV in your room.

The location was a little more remote than expected and slightly less 'picturesque', but for travellers wanting a quiet retreat then it was ideal. We didn't miss having a tv in bedroom but could understand that some people would. Food was good. Once we had had the opportunity to chat, what we perceived to be a rather reserved welcome became much more relaxed. Overall we enjoyed our stay

Tips:

Go to Plockton stores/Shores for an excellent meal.Booking strongly advised. The train ride to Inverness alongside the lochs is well worth trying if you run out of ideas of what to do.

7th October 2013:

We are quiet people and we enjoyed the peace and quiet at Soluis Mu Thuath so we could read in the evenings. Thank you, Margaret and Gerry, for your hospitality and friendliness to us - giving advice on the best places to go according to the weather etc.

Tips:

We did the usual things - visited Eilean Donan Castle - very interesting; drove around Skye on two days, magnificent scenery, as ever; visited Plocton and ate in The Plocton Inn (a good meal); visited Applecross - when we are fitter we would like to walk some of the trails around Applecross but this time enjoyed strolling through and eating at the Applecross Inn (another good meal). We also ate out at an Indian Restaurant just over the Skye Bridge in Kylekin which was reasonable and good. We drove a number of small narrow and steep roads - mostly enjoyable but you do need to hit the right low gear for going up. I missed my gear once and came to a stand still - it takes a hill start into quite a different mind set especially when there is a considerable drop below the hairpin bend you have just gone around!!

Warm welcome, good facilities, even baked gluten free bread specially for me

Tips:

no restaurants nearby, pre-book Plockton and drive narrow roads to get there, or eat before arrival. easiest approach is from A890. After about 2 miles travel on the minor road TomTom will recommend a right turn, ignore, its straight on for 200 yards and on the left.

We enjoyed our stay with and wish to thank you for your warm welcome and helpfullness throughout. The meals were excellent. The various brochures you had in the lounge were jolly usefull for planning trips and meals out etc.

Tips:

At Braeintra you will be 7 miles from Plockton (and 9 from Kyle) where you can enjoy trips to sea, some shops and restaurants. Atadale house & garden (on the south side of Lochcarron) is well worth a trip.
