26th March 2019:

A gorgeous cottage which felt like a home away from home. Our family of seven stayed comfortably in the cozy beds and enjoyed all the amenities provided, including the rubber boots which were perfect for exploring the tide pools in the "front yard". We would absolutely recommend you stay here and enjoy all the beauty of The Skye.

Tips:

Definitely explore the sweet town and shops. The Love From Skye Jewelry shop was a highlight for us as well as the market across the way.

29th November 2018:

We absolutely loved the Waterside Cottage at Waterside Skye! Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The cottage was perfect for our group of 7 (4 adults, 3 children). It was cozy, comfortable, and clean. There was plenty of space for gathering together as well as allowing space for us to have privacy as well. We really enjoyed sitting in front of the fire and how nice that the wood was conveniently placed right next to the fireplace - everything we needed was right there! We loved the view over the water. Owners thought of everything with wellies available for all to walk down to the beach. It's a great location for exploring the Isle of Skye. I highly recommend and will definitely return to Waterside and spend more time there.

Tips:

We ate at Cafe Sia and had the BEST pizza ever! We visited the Fairy Pools which were amazing. We also toured Talisker Distillery which was very nice. We ate in Carbost at the Old Inn Pub. I had the beef and red wine stew which was amazing. Others had fish and chips and were very pleased with their food. There's so much to see/do no Isle Of Skye, I recommend taking at least 2 days if not 3 to enjoy it all. And definitely, stay at Waterside. It was an amazing place.

This is a beautiful and comfortable property, exquisite in its panoramic view of Broadford Bay, thoughtful in its details. The bed is a little small and the WiFi slow and undependable, but these are little drawbacks in what is otherwise one of the loveliest places I’ve stayed in seven or eight visits to Scotland. It has convenience and location as well as sheer scenic beauty. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

21st June 2018:

The cottage and the cabin are both first class. Very comfortable and cosy. They both are on the shore so the view, especially from the cabin, across Broadford Bay is stunning. Sunset was amazing - apart from the midges! The decor and cleanliness were excellent. Plenty of parking space and easy access to the main Skye road. I look forward to a chance to return as there is so much more of Skye to visit.

Tips:

Broadford is about 7 miles after the bridge so is at the south of the island. It’s a fair drive up to Portree, Uig, and a lot of the sites but the village itself is great. Highly recommend Cafe Sia pizza, about a 25 min walk from the cottage. There is a big Coop in the village for all your needs. Further afield, the Old Inn at Corbost does great food in a cosy wee bar. Fairy pools and Storr are must dos and a drive up to Staffin is worth it.

The cottage was perfect for our needs. Great location and view. Thank you for the small touches such as binoculars to enjoy the waterfowl and reading material of Skye. We spent a total of 2 weeks in Scotland and the cottage was indeed our most relaxing. I gave a 4 on cleanliness only because there was quite a bit hair of on floors. Everything else was lovely. Thank you and will indeed recommend.

Weve had a great stay in your lovely cosy cottage Thank you. We’ve put 4 for facilities only because the showers could have been better and logs were quite damp. It may be a good idea to let people know when the bins are collected as the recycle bin was full to the top on our arrival. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone visiting Skye.

A perfect location as a home base to explore Skye! Our family of 8 grown adults really enjoyed this wonderful cottage! There is a grocery down the road (not common on Skye) and an old hotel across the street for dinner and drinks out. The house is right on the water and perfectly situated near trails for morning walks. It's a perfect size and had everything you would need for a large group.

Tips:

We highly recommend the MacDonald castle and museum as well as all the hikes and walks on the island!

9th August 2017:

We had a lovely stay at the cabin. The views were amazing, we enjoyed watching the wildlife the skies changing, and the cabin gave us an unobstructed view to enjoy this. We are so glad we chose Broadford, as it gave us the ideal location to explore all of Skye. The facilities are ideal for a cabin, so much has been thought about. The cabin has been furnished so well, a very cosy space to relax after a long day out. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating when the cabin ran into teething problems.

Tips:

Skye is obviously a large space and the attractions are all quite spaced out, so we would advise other guests to prepare for quite a bit of driving. We recommend Calum's Seal Tours in Plockton - well priced and free if no seals. The best meals we had were at the Bar Am Praban and the Plockton Shores. We also enjoyed a take-away from Taste of India. Definitely take a day to just relax in the cabin, enjoy the views and explore the shore out the front of the cabin. Dunvegan castle and the fairy pools are worth the journey, and definitely worth the swim! On our way back down south we got the ferry to Malaig and enjoyed the beaches at Morar before stopping off in Glenfinnan - great if like us you are Harry Potter fans, and like to know some local history.

Very easy to book and owners very responsive to any questions that we had about the area and the house. The house has 4 good size rooms and a well stocked kitchen, games selection, books and other nice touches including wellington boots and a cold box. We know Skye well and the place was exactly what we needed as a base.

Amazing place to stay. Comfy, cosy, everything is there to enable you to relax. Loads of space, beds are amazing, washing machine and tumble drier a massive bonus. Beautiful garden leading to the bay and a massive conservatory to dump your sandy, wet clothes after a day on the beach. Well behaved dogs allowed as well so the whole family can enjoy. Very highly recommended as is the welcome pack!! Brilliantly situated for all Skye and mainland Scotland. Owners are friendly and very helpful too!

Tips:

The hotel across the road is excellent and kiddie friendly. The food is also very good and has a takeaway menu! Broadford caters for all and the co-op is very well stocked! Cafe Sia pizzas are amazing and the chippy is excellent. Make sure you go for breakfast rolls! Kyleakin is beautiful and make sure you take a boat trip around Loch Alsh. Skye is breathtaking and everything is a maximum 60-80 mins away. Take your canoe/kayak to the cottage, getting out to the bay from the garden is amazingly simple. Wildlife aplenty and great hospitality throughout the island.

It is lovely when a property exceeds expectation and Waterside Cottage certainly did. As a group of three family units the accommodation worked perfectly. In the freezing, snowy weather that we had we were able to enjoy the fire and sit round the table for games in the evenings. Special thanks for the amazing welcome pack!

Tips:

We had a most enjoyable tour of the Talisker Whisky distillery - would thoroughly recommend it! We had a couple of visits to Cafe Sia in Broadford where the pizzas are great and the staff are very friendly. We also had a lovely cup of tea in The Wee Tea Room a couple of miles from Carbost where we had amazing coffee cake. (Building snowmen in the garden may not be possible every week!)

Only gave the location a 4 because it was our first time on the island but would like to try the north. The cottage was excellent with plenty of parking for 2 cars. Bedrooms were lovely with very comfortable beds. Had everything we needed in the kitchen and it was a bonus for us to have the washing machine and dryer (2 kids). Would I come back again - definitely.

Tips:

Cooked all our evening meals in the cottage and only used the fish and chip shop and the Café in Broadford which were both good, Stopped at a few cafes during our travels but especially liked the Granary in Portree.

Fiona was exceptionally helpful and booking went smoothly. Cottage is in an ideal situation, close enough to the village of Broadford (1 mile) yet on the water front. A home from home in terms of furnishings and great attention to detail - dressing gowns, quality of the bed linen and toiletries. Wi fi is a tad slow which just speeded up our relation and getting into the holiday slower pace!

Tips:

Ate at Plockton Shores in Plockton twice as the menu was great for me as a veggie and the quality superb. Red Skye restaurant was the best we ate at in Broadford and a 1.5 mile stomp from the cottage. If the budget stretches to it, the Michelin starred Three Chimneys at Dunvegan is a treat - long waiting list we booked 6 months ago. Enjoyed the Misty Isle boat trip and the shorter Talisker distillery tour - 30 mins and £8 each with a £3 voucher for spending in the shop.

Lovely stay at waterside. Comfy cost cottage with excellent facilities. Beautiful view from garden I rated location slightly lower due to the proximity of the road but the standard of accommodation makes up for this. It's not an issue but you need to be aware it's not quiet and remote. It's also approx 20-30 mins walk to broadford supermarket and local shops but there are 2 restaurants closer. Claymore is dog friendly as is broadford hotel in village

27th June 2014:

Great place to stay. My daughter liked it best of all the places we have stayed so far. Lounge room chairs getting a little uncomfortable. Otherwise a great stay - thank you.

Tips:

Had a great meal first night at the pub across the street. Well worth ordering more fire wood so you can enjoy the fireplace during your stay.

I have stayed in Waterside Cottage before, and every time I come back it is even better than before. Fiona and David work hard to maintain the high standard and keep constantly improving the facilities. This cottage makes you feel like you want to live in it! It was seven of us sharing the cottage this time, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The dining area is spacious with big dining table and enough space for 8 people to eat together. The kitchen is well equipped and all guests who like to cook will find all they need to make delicious meals. The quality of dinnerware and cutlery will make you enjoy your food ever more! All the rooms are bright with very comfortable beds, extra covers if you need them, have central heating that you can turn off if you are too warm. There is spacious off-road car parking right next to the house. Garden is lovely and views are great over to the little isle of Pabay and the water of the Inner Sound. You have also a great view of Beinn na Caillich, one of the Red Cuillin hills.

Tips:

Waterside Cottage is a perfect base for exploring Skye. It is 5 minutes drive from Skye Bridge and 20 minutes away from Armadale ferry. Around 20 minutes drive from Sligahan junction. There is Hebridean Hotel conveniently located across the road from the cottage for those days when you don't want to walk or drive away for dinner or drinks. There are few nice cafes and restaurants nearby, few minutes away in the car or about 20 - 25 minutes walk.

Tips:

Highly recommend Creelers Restaurant though whilst ok, we probably would not visit the Harbour Restaurant again to be honest the all dishes we had just simply had too much salt added. Definitely recommend the Hebridean Hotel across the road for its real ale and friendly atmosphere though didn't try food there. Best day out for us was walking in Glen Brittle closely followed by Glen Sligachan.

Friendly voice when booking (Fiona). Great communication, beautiful cottage lacking in nothing. Very comfortable and well equipped. Wish our own home was as homely as this!

Tips:

So much to see on Skye. Get to Skye Skins at Loch Bay, Waternish to see how the tanning and sheepskin making process works. Try and see all four corners of the island because the scenery is spectacular and the roads are amazing.

24th February 2014:

Great House and location for exploring Skye. Perfectly clean and quality furniture and fittings.

Tips:

We visit family in Skye every year so have done loads over the years. Things to do and worth a visit : - Talisker distillery tour, FAiry pools walk, fairy glen, Dunvegan castle, North of Dunvegan Coral Beach and also coral beach near plockton, Applecross drive and lunch in Applecross Inn, Skye Chinese in Kyle of Lockalsh is very good for Take aways. At the other end of the scale Three Chimmneys is well worth a visit, staff food location all excellent, likewise Duisdale Lodge excellent food BUT dining room is a bit tired and the plastic high chair jammed in close to our seating, bearing in mind its suppossed to be fine dining was swiftly moved. the staff were either excellent or inept, if you can treat the "service" from some of the staff as a comedy cabaret its a great experience

Brilliant place to stay for any age. The cottage is spacious and homely. Has everything you could wish and more. The garden leads to the beach. Siting in the garden is very tranquil with an abundance of wildlife just a few feet away. Easy access from here to rest of skye.

Tips:

Make sure you visit the whole island. It is very beautiful. Take time to visit Kyle - beneath the bridge is a wonderful place to visit.

11th October 2013:

Thank you for a beautiful stay at Waterside Cottage, sorry it has taken me some time to get around to sending some feedback. We had a fantastic time there and really appreciated the welcome package. We found the cottage to the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort, beds very cozy! Loved the location right next to the sea and it was great to have shops/pubs/restaurants so close by. Also great to have the mountains so near. Only problem was the cooker with it tripping the fuse and us not being able to work out how to turn the oven on, thank you for sending the electrician around so quickly. We never could work out quite what was causing it to trip but it stopped doing it so much after the first/second day. Perhaps you could include a 'How to' guide for operating the oven in your folder of information. Thanks again for a lovely stay, we hope to use the cottage again when we are back in the UK and will certainly recommend Waterside to friends. Kind regards, Tristan and Hayley Jackson

Tips:

Go to the Cafe down the road next to the reptile centre, great tea's coffees and cakes!

8th September 2013:

Excellent base for exploring the Cuillins, with good links to the rest of the island. Saw otters from the garden! Loved the fire, and open-plan sitting room-diner. Only complaint is that the downstairs en suite should be tiled - wallpaper in a room that small without a window had inevitably started to peel.

Tips:

You are most likely to see otters when tide is high at dusk/dawn. Lunch at the Kinloch Lodge is definitely recommended as a treat.

1st September 2013:

Just sit in the garden and enjoy the wonderful views and wildlife, although the cottage is next to the main road, this does not cause any noise problems in the cottage or in the garden. The cottage itself is comfortable with everything you could want and then some, the log burner in the lounge made it very cozy on a night. There are plenty of places to eat near at hand, information can be found on were to eat, things to do etc in the extensive information pack that Fiona has put together for guests. She was also very quick and happy to respond to any queries that we had. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Waterside Cottage and would be happy to recommend.

Tips:

So many wonderful places to see and visit that I can't list them all, but one place you must not miss is Eilean Iarmain situated on the Sleat peninsula.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Lots of attention to detail and very welcoming, especially as we were able to take our dog with us.

Tips:

Drive around the island and take in the views; lots of lovely walks (Waterloo just by the cottage is beautiful); Ellishadder Cafe and Stein Inn worth a visit.

11th June 2013:

This house is quirky and full of character. Kitchen well equipped, even a sharp cooks knife in the kitchen (we usually bring our own). A good location especially with children as easier access to amenities and mainland if weather not as good as we experienced. Lovely views from the back garden, especially sunsets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Oh and beds super comfortable with duo seasonal duvet's.

Tips:

To visit Skye you must want to get out and experience the majestic scenery. You don't need to be a climber or even a keen rambler but just willing to be outdoors. A visit to Dunvegan Castle included a seal trip in a small boat which meant getting closer to the seals than larger boats. Really enjoyed a visit to Black Houses at The Skye Museum, and a visit to The Ellishadder Art Cafe.

Perfect for our stay with a family group and children Close to shore for walks and handy to the mountains as well. Always lovely and warm to come home to. Well equipped kitchen

Tips:

We had a great meal at the Broadford hotel for a group of 20. The Hebridean Hotel also put on a good meal for our large group when we arrived late Saturday. We had a lovely meal at Creelers; go with an empty stomach and have the very filling and spicy gumbo!

Good booking service. Everything in place for arrival. Very cosy with excellent facilities and great garden leading to shore. Some minor points: Home cooks might appreciate an apron and scissors. The lock on the back door could be improved.

Tips:

Recommend Cuillin View Coffee Shop in Elgol - good coffee and home baking. Sligachan Hotel good family stop; plenty of space, including outdoor play area and not forgetting the great views! Isleornsay is a beautiful location. Nigel Grounds Gallery at Armadale is worth a visit - fabulous paintings and prints. The horseshoe walk near Broadford - Beinn na Caillich, Beinn Dearg Mhor and Beinn Dearg Bheag - is great for fine views so go on a clear day: difficult scree on descent of Beinn Dearg Mhor!!
