Very friendly and helpful hosts - thanks a million! We very much enjoyed our stay! Excellent breakfast with absolutely fresh eggs from their own hens and ducks. Private parking on the premises. In both our rooms there where binoculars to watch the wildlife.

Tips:

Ask the hosts! We visited Talisker distillery - of course ;-) Talisker bay (we were lucky to find a parking lot at both places). Restaurant: Edinbane Inn, recommended also by Liz and Nigel - excellent!

2nd September 2019:

This is a gem of a place. You will receive a warm welcome from your hosts with a quick tour and everything explained. Each well appointed room looks out over a sea loch and the sunsets are spectacular. The room was spotless with beautiful bedding, a sofa and an exceptionally large bathroom. They've even provided binoculars in the rooms and homemade biscuits. There's fresh milk if you prefer it as well. At breakfast you'll find homemade bread, jam, marmalade and granola. The bacon, sausages and eggs are even home-produced. Make sure you book early. I'd thoroughly recommend!

Tips:

There are 2 hotels accross the loch. You'll need a car to get to them. We only ate in one of them - Greshornish House. It might not be for you if you're on a budget but the food was delicious.

2nd September 2019:

Beautiful location. Excellent breakfast and Liz, the owner, gave us some eggs from her chickens to take away with us which we enjoyed in our next self-catering accommodation. She also gave us good tips on where to go and what to see. Comfortable room with sea view.

Tips:

Liz recommended the Edinbane Inn which had very good food - recommend the cullen skink. Also went on nice cycle along the old road to the Cathedral of the Isles - which is actually not a cathedral at all.

13th August 2019:

Such wonderful hosts and a comfortable home. Liz and Nigel went out of their way to help, from drying our walking boots to giving us tips on how to avoid the Storr crowds. We were also let to our own devices and free to come and go as we pleased. Breakfast was top notch, and Liz's homemade sausages were a treat... so was the summit cake (sorry we didn't get a photo for you Liz, but we aborted the Quiaraing because of the wet weather!) We couldn't recommend staying here highly enough! Joe & Harry x

Tips:

We thoroughly enjoyed trekking the Black Cuilin. And the Fairy Glen is a must. Go early to avoid the crowds!

Liz and Nigel were very welcoming and excellent hosts. The room was modern, extremely clean and comfortable with a superb view over the Loch. There was a good choice of breakfast which consisted primarily of home made foods.

Tips:

Strathearn is an ideal base to explore the island and Liz and Nigel’s local knowledge was extremely helpful in determining trips. There is a small library of books and maps available for visitors use. Heist Point, the Fairy Pools, Coral Beach and Talisker Distillery are all worth a visit.

7th August 2019:

Liz & Nigel made us fell so welcome at their beautiful B&B. From the welcoming afternoon tea for reception to the many nice chats and helpful advice about where to go, we loved every minute of our stay. Besides, the views from the room are utterly amazing and the breakfast was the best we had during our time in Scotland. Also, we love the way Liz & Nigel show environmental awareness in the way the lead the B&B. From recycling to the homemade saussage :) Absolutely can recommend spending a few days at Strathearn!

Tips:

Make use of Liz' offer for packed lunches, you will not go wrong with them and eateries are hard to find along any route on Skye. DO reserve a dinner table if you plan on eating nearby (Edinbane Inn, or Stein Inn on Waternish). Or go to Portree, the only place with a choice of pubs & restaurant, but also extremely busy in July/ August.

16th June 2019:

Liz & Nigel’s welcome and attention were excellent. We were made to feel at home straight away. The breakfast menu selection process and the room preparation are unrivalled.

Tips:

Skye is a tableau of points of interest. If you are unused to single-track roads care must be exercised for visits to some of the very popular parts. Further afield places like Glendale, Neist Point and the remoter parts boast little that’s open on a Sunday & toilets are a rare commodity. Old Man of Storr and Quairaing are extremely busy so early arrival is recommended. Camper vans are ubiquitous and often choose the most scenic parts to spend their days and nights.

We found Nigel and Liz to be warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. Everything one could wish for in a host! The room was comfortable with a gorgeous sea view, very nice bath - just about perfect! Breakfast was excellent and robust if desired.

She even bought a German guidebook for hiking on Skye - just because she knew we were coming. We really felt at home as it was cosy and clean. The rooms were quite luxurious and Liz even made fresh cookies for our rooms.

We really enjoyed our stay very much. We could tell that a lot of thought was put in when the house was built. The room was very cosy, The views amazing, the bathroom very nice, the large heated entry room with room for our (wet) shoes was good to have. A huge selection for breakfast, home-made jams, fresh fruit salad, anything you could wish for. Liz and Nigel are wonderful hosts with lots of recommendations of what to do and where to go. We would love to come back one day !

Tips:

The Edinbane Inn is the only restaurant close to the B&B, but the food is delicious. Better to reserve a table in advance though. We really enjoyed the walk around the Greshornish peninsula and the Uiginish peninsula which aren't too far away.

Very friendly hosts, quality food, home-made biscuts in room. Breakfast is a delight. Binoculars thoughtfully left in bedrooms to scan the loch below. Helpful advice freely given.

Tips:

No restaurants in the area, apart from the Edinbane Inn which has a good menu, wonderful draught Skye Red ale & friendly atmosphere. It is more of a drive to Portree, or Dunvegan for meals. Dunvegan Castle and Gardens definitely worth a visit, as is the Coral Beach, Trumpan village, & history. Uig, with Skye Brewery, & pottery. The dramatic rock formations of the Quaraing, & Old man of Storr. The superb scenic drive from Uig round the peninsula and back to Portree. Neiss Point is worth a trip. Travellers should sample Skye Ice Cream, and Skye ale !

Great kindness, the owner gives you very good advice on the stay and on the things to see and do. Very hand-made good breakfast. Perfect stay!

Tips:

Follow strictly the information Strathearn B and B gives you 1 week before the arrival. In fact, it is not easy reach the B&B without info (no sign on the street, you have to turn on "Kildonan" direction). For dinner we went to the "Edinbane Inn", a few km ahead (good stay, it could be crowded). Strathearn B and B is near to Dunvegan Castle and to road to Coral Beach.

Absolutely wonderful stay with Liz and Nigel who are committed to making sure their guests enjoy their stay with them. Excellent breakfast/cakes, etc. and with so many home grown/baked/produced foodstuffs on offer the memory lingers on - with tastebuds singing now at the very thought!! Liz only too happy to help on how to fill our days and wonderfully knowledgeable. Excellent accommodation in every way - thank you both so, so much - we hope to return in the future.

Tips:

'Island at the Edge' - a short way from the house - local sheep/wool spinning/knitting workshop and unique articles for sale. Edinbane Inn - lovely food in easy atmosphere Coral Beach - beautiful Neist Point - dramatic, nesting birds

We absolutely loved our stay!! Everything was just perfect. The best breakfasts we had by far. Your wealth of knowledge of the area was amazing. I really liked the book where everything was laid out for us.

Tips:

Book your reservations ahead for dining out. We found this necessary all over the UK especially in peak season. Bring Wellys ie rubber boots!!! They are a must in this climate! They allowed us to go places we couldn't have otherwise. We donated the ones we bought to a second hand store when we left to leave room in our suitcases.

A Wonderful couple who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was most enjoyable! Would recommend this delightful B&B to one and all ☺

Tips:

We went on a full day tour of Skye with Real Scottish Tours, and though it was cloudy and had rained too much on previous days to allow us access to all the sights, our witty tour guide had alternatives in place that were thoroughly enjoyable

Beautiful B&B with such attention to detail and a great location to see Skye from. Liz and Nigel couldn't have been more accommodating and lovely. Will definitely be back and recommending to friends! Honourable mention goes to Liz's home baking and cooking skills :) yum yum

Tips:

Liz recommended a local hamlet about 10 mins drive called Edinbane for some local music and food and there was a lovely pottery place there too. The B&B is in a convenient location which allowed us to easily travel to both sides of the island quickly with the limited time we had to see all the major attractions.
