Could do with a bath or hot tub. Could do with hooks on the doors in room 5 for hanging jackets

Tips:

All activities are outdoors. Good leaflet on walks. Roads adequate but not great. Hotel very dog friendly. Local shop well stocked. Advise to book accommodation well ahead.

Spacious room, very comfortable bed. Good menu selection with generous servings. Helpful staff. Placement of electrical outlets a bit awkward and kettle cord did not reach table. Had to seek assistance with shower, as water took a while to heat up.

Tips:

Variety of scenic walking trails from door of hotel.

We were made to feel very welcome...the service and friendliness of the staff was excellent. The location is stunning...even though it rained a lot...

Tips:

Make sure you get the timings of the ferry right and if you're coming from the direction of Fort William there is another ferry to Skye which cuts off much of the drive.

The timer in the bathroom could last longer, waving your hands in the air whilst in the shower grows old after a while. I ate the mussels on my last night which were over cooked, told the waitress Rachel and she apologised and took them away, asking if id want an alternative or off the bill? She did everything right but I would have liked her to follow up after coming back from the kitchen giving me an explanation for the state of the mussels. Over we had a lovely experience, beautiful location and building. The upgrade was a kind gesture. Many thanks

Warm, friendly inviting arrival. A beautiful place to stay with superb facilities. An excellent menu to choose from and every dish was perfectly executed. Breakfast was also, prepared to the highest standard of any other hotel we have visited. Also enjoyed and mixing with the local community who made us feel extremely welcome. A fabulous memorable trip.

Tips:

Not having been in Skye before not sure where to start, but found the helpfulness of the lady in the information centre in Portree invaluable. She gave us a route to follow which let us explore the beautifly island. However with it being out of season there was also many places not open. Which just means another visit at another time.

The property is gorgeous. Our main concerns are that the bar, cafe, and dining room facilities are not in keeping with the period property. The bar should have more comfortable seating, rather than stools. The cafe and dining room should be merged into one room and furnished in period. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner could be served in this room.

So glad we stayed here! What a lovely spot. We could not get in a reservation in Portree, but after staying here we realize that we were lucky to have found this alternative accommodation on this beautiful little island. The hotel feels like it has been recently refurbished to good effect. There are a few kinks to work out (e.g. sensor in bathroom should be changed--it takes 15 minutes for the light to go out), but everything was very clean and comfortable. My sister and I stayed in the East side of the house in a lodge room with a double and twin bed. Quiet and comfortable. The staff is all so helpful and nice. I was in an auto accident right after we checked out and Anna at the front desk was incredibly helpful in getting our car towed on the ferry and also calling a nurse for a quick exam. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Raasay House. It is in a beautiful location, very friendly staff, excellently appointed room, and deliceous food - we will certainly stay again. One minor point being that I thought the bar area was a bit soul-less, being more like a modern cafeteria, although the staff were excellent.

I love Raasay house, the staff and the location. I am a fishing guide and had a group of 4 guests, everything was excellent - the staff are always keen to please and very accommodating doing everything they can to help. In my experience if you ask for something the answer is always yes. The only negative is the kitchen which made a big mistake putting mushrooms in a dish for a client of mine who has a mushroom allergy, causing an outbreak of hives. It was a very busy weekend and the kitchen was under a lot of pressure, but mistakes like that can be costly. I would definitely recommend Raasay house to anyone looking to discover a beautiful hidden gem.

Tips:

Hire a guide (fishinguide.co.uk) and go hiking to the lochs to fish for trout, or try your luck fishing off the pier for mackerel.

The staff of Raasay House could not be more helpful. On both mornings of our stay I was up at 6am with my three month old daughter and came downstairs so as not to wake my sleeping husband and elder daughter. On both mornings different members of the team asked if they could get me a cup of tea or glass of water. Little things like that make a huge difference.

The housekeeping staff did not realise that the walls to the bedrooms from the hallway are thin, and every word spoken, shouted, could be heard by all of those poor unfortunate guests who may have been trying to indulge in an afternoon nap!! Senior staff were exceptional, but the younger members of the team need a few lessons in manners! And common courtesy. It is great to have a child friendly hotel, but there needs to be a few options for the odd couple who may like a quiet romantic dinner spot, undisturbed by children who's parents can't control their little peoples noise at the table.

The staff we met could not have been more helpful. We were hugely impressed by the quality of the refurbishment. Room 3 was very comfortable and well appointed. It is a great pity that smoking is allowed on the terrace. The gravel and terrace contained many cigarette ends which did not create a good impression on arrival or during our stay. This was the only unsatisfactory feature of our stay.

We had an amazing time and look forward to staying again - hopefully next time we'll be able to stay in the Deluxe Balcony Room, which we had originally booked for. But we were more than happy with our alternative.

Tips:

As the hotel is the local pub/hotel/restaurant, everything is there. The staff are friendly, the food is excellent and the rooms are gorgeous.

Despite the weather causing the internet to go down and scaffolding moving about on the front of the building the staff couldn't be nicer and more friendly . Highly recommended for a perfect relaxing break and in a stunning location . Will be back as soon as we can , thank you to you all .

Tips:

Lots of walking and interesting places to visit from sandy beaches to high walks with amazing views and everything in between. Very friendly locals wherever you are and happen to bump into them on your travels.

2nd March 2014:

I was so lucky to stumble across Raasay House when I was searching for a few days away in Skye to kick start my novel. I visited in February so there weren't many other visitors around but when I needed to come up for air, the staff we warm and friendly. They all went out of of their way to make me feel at home. My room was fab with a big cosy bed which was bright and airy. There was no TV in my room but that was okay for me as I was writing but be sure to ask for a room for a TV if you can't do without. I will definitely be going back there.

Tips:

Have the full size Scottish breakfast and then you won't need to eat until dinner time, especially if you have an active day ahead. There are loads of walks for all levels but try one of each.

A very nice stay, ideal for our purposes. Good breakfast, especially liked the porridge!

Tips:

Raasay is small but full of interesting things to explore. Saw both otters and eagles, as well as the ruined castle and some interesting topography. We will come again.

10th September 2013:

The hotel and services were great. The decorations are lovely and very tastefull. Breakfast was very good, I like it that you can choose you own breakfast instead of a breakfastbuffet. Everybody was very friendly and did a little extra. The only point of critics might be that our room, room nr. 1, is above the bar and one can hear everything from there. On saturday evening there was a lot of noise till 2.00 in the night so I had a very late sleep.

Tips:

We went on some beautifull walks. That is a must on the Island

7th September 2013:

We will happily return to raasay house. The quality of our room and the stunning view could not be beaten! we struggle to think of any hotel room we've stayed in previously which betters the balcony room we had for two nights. The quality of the breakfast and the food available in the bar and restaurant was excellent. The only problem we had was the kitchen not fully appreciating that the garlic intolerance, identified before our arrival, meant absolutely no garlic on the plate. Both meals regrettably had to be sent back and redone and unfortunately the small amount of garlic consumed led to two very uncomfortable nights and some discomfort in the days ahead. The front of house staff handled the situation very helpfully and apologetically and put in place appropriate discounts but the problem would not have occurred had greater care been taken in what is obviously a kitchen which works to a very high standard in every other way. Food intolerance aside we had a wonderful time exploring the delights of Raasay again and loved the location and facilities of the hotel so much we will return, hopefully soon.

Tips:

Wonderful location, views over the mainland and skye to die for , relaxed environment with walks in stunning settings, very helpful staff and high quality accomadation

The group of Chinese travelers I escorted had an excellent time on Raasay and at Raasay House. Very good food, and they took to the activities and instructors.

Tips:

The afternoon connection between the Jacobite and the ferry to Skye is very tight (almost impossible if the Jacobite is late), so have a back-up plan. Just enjoy the space and fresh air.

16th June 2013:

Hotel lovely and staff excellent too. Very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend. Very minor points would be I would have liked decaf coffee and tea sachets in bedroom. TV not working due to broadband issues. An info sheet in the room re hotel information would be handy eg meal times, how to contact someone in an emergency eg during the night, saying packed lunches are available etc. You could also say toothbruses etc are available on request as although a nice touch I think most people will have these and some folk will take them home just for the sake of it! Also please state if food is spicy eg I order lentil soup and couldn't eat it as have allergy to spices ( and the lady at the next table came over to me to say she did too!) . You could offer guest the chance to do achery etc.

Tips:

We found our car to be handy, allowed us to see more of the island during our short stay. If you are able to offer a shuttle service for guest who don't take their car over you should make this clear. Food in hotel very good so would recommend to others.

We had the most wonderful stay at Raasay House and Lynn and her team have done an amazing job restoring the house after the fire and created some beautiful rooms for their guests. Our room was large and spacious, with large bathroom and stunning views over to Skye. The food in the bar was great and the views spectacular - I couldn't fault it. Thanks very much for a great stay and please acquire some sea kayaks for my next visit!
