We are situated on The Trotternish Peninsula 5 miles above Uig which is the ferry terminal for Harris Lewis and Loch Maddy. The museum of Island Life and the grave of Flora Macdonald is about 1 mile away, also we have an iron aged soutterain whithin walking distance from the house. Beautiful and stunning sunsets over Harris, you will have to see them to believe them.

28th October 2018:

A great location with very friendly hosts. Especially appreciate help with car problem when we first arrived, as well as advice on road construction on our way to B&B. All the meals were great, and very much liked having supper both nights after long days of driving. Liked the discussions with hosts about their experiences and life on Skye.

Tips:

Suggestions on what to see were very helpful. Rely on the hosts' knowledge. We were surprised with great distance from bridge to The Old Post Office. Be sure not to miss nearby Folk Museum.

We have spent 4 nights at The Old Post Office, and we really enjoyed everything! The house is beautiful, and the rooms too! The house is situated between flocks of sheep and the sea, and you can see both throw the windows of the room. Kathleen and Alec are really friendly and we appreciated that very much! All the breakfast is home made and delicious, as the optional meals that you can get on the evening. We highly recommand the Old Post Office !

It was really a great staying and very very nice to know and speak with the hosts. We hope to stay in touch and that this was a way to know eachother. The house is really wonderful, welcoming and the location exactly what you expect by Scotland and Skye island. Dinner and breakfast were superb; not a restaurant but real better and familiar cooking...great! Thank you

Tips:

There are no restaurant or "turists things" around but just real warming and nice scotland people, peaceful location and great familiar food! Hosts are really nice and open people with whom have nice chat on everything. Very very advisable location.

We had a very comfortable stay at the Old Post Office having been welcomed at the door by Alec and Kathleen and settled in by a warm fire for our evening meal. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the next morning's walking and the ferry to Harris and Lewis.

Tips:

We only stayed for one night, unfortunately, but did manage a short walk around the nearby headland at the Northernmost tip of Skye before taking the ferry from Uig to Harris, for which the Old Post Office is most convenient.

23rd April 2018:

We stayed 2 nights during Easter. Even though weather was chilly, we had a very comfortable and cosy stay. Location is somewhat remote, but it is in a very tranquil area of Trottenish Peninsula with easy access to the major sights (Quirang, The Old Man of Storr). We enjoyed both our breakfasts and evening meal-it was nice to be able to dine in (with drinks) after a long day out. Alec and Kathleen were welcoming and hospitable with lots of stories to share. Room was smallish for 3, but comfortable and pristine. It is on 1st floor so there is a flight of steps to carry luggages up.

Tips:

Check out the fascinating Iron Age underground store area nearby (ask the hosts).

We loved the remote location on the northern end of Trotternish peninsula. For rural walkers, this location is ideal. We also loved the hospitality of Alec and Kathleen - they are warm, welcoming and immediately personable.

Tips:

For walkers, Rubha Hunish was spectacular. Also enjoyed Ben Tianavaig. Storr is great but only if you go very early. Otherwise, its swarmed. As with walking anywhere on the islands, be prepared for wet, boggy hiking. We also enjoyed walk the small rural lanes. If time, Dunvegan castle and gardens are worthwhile along with the nearby coral beach walk.

Encima no queria gratificación. Lo recomiendo absolutamente. Gracias Alec y Katheleen.

25th April 2016:

All was comfortable and lovely. Thanks to Alec and Kathleen for making us feel relaxed and well fed.

Tips:

The Old Post Office is out of the way, but in a beautiful part of the Isle of Skye. One stays there for the natural beauty of the landscape and the graciousness of the hosts. The food is amazing as well - all locally sourced and made from scratch. Delicious after a day long hike.

14th September 2015:

Alec and Kathleen are such nice host and the room was the coziest place I had stayed at during my entire stay in Skye. It was a shame we didn't try their cooking, as I've heard their food is wonderful. I hope to come back to Skye one day, and would definitely stay with them again. Thank you!

31st August 2015:

The Old Post Office was by far the best B&B we experienced on our Scotland trip! Alec and Kathleen gave us the most warmly welcome and served the best dinner and breakfast of all times! We were dining in their own living room and enjoyed every bite! Both are most friendly persons and the pleasure having guests gives them is visible in the comfy rooms aswell. We hope to come back very soon!

7th July 2015:

A very warm welcome and superb wholesome food. Being able to dine at the B and B was ideal, not to mention the excellent quality of the meals. It was particularly interesting to be able to chat about life on Skye and plenty of other topics as well... The room was comfortable with extensive views. We would definitely recommend a stay here for all who love to get away from the hubbub of the city.

Tips:

The views are worth a visit whatever the weather - Kilt Rock , the Croft museum and the Old Man of Storr are just nearby. Portree is not all that far either and we also visited Dunvegan castle and gardens where we saw seals by the shore.

10th March 2015:

Both breakfast and evening meals were delicious, home-cooked, and often home-grown. The portions were generous, and it was a great way to re-energise after a cold, wet day out in the rain. Alec and Kathleen were very kind, accommodating hosts. Kathleen baked a birthday cake for us, and not an evening passed without the offer of whiskey. We spent every evening chatting with them in their sitting room. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return.

Tips:

We were there in the off-season, so not much was open. However, Kathleen's and Alec's cooking cannot be beat, and I would recommend skipping the difficult search for a restaurant and the dark drive home, and just book dinner with Kathleen and Alec. We topped up our supplies at the general store in Uig, and ate outside (or in our car) in some of the most scenic places in Scotland.
